Message: Walter, actually long haired males were excluded from the park until the late 60?s as a violation of their unwritten dress code. Females were not forgotten and could not enter in a halter top. Male employees were denied long and any form of facial hair until about 2000 even though Walt had a moustache. I found this out personally when I tried to get a year tour of duty at the Pacific Telephone sponsored Circle Theater in the 70?s and I wouldn't shave my 'stache.

Trivia question... Would the class of 76 really groove to accordian music or top 40 songs from the 70's at Cruise Night on the 20th? I think Accordian music and it sure will be fun watching them show us their nifty Polka moves.

Message: Jim you are correct and beat Patti with the answer by a brief 10 minutes. I am awarding your win with a champagne toast this evening! I remember thinking it so strange to see the Emperor walking around like everyone else. The day was not crowded and they were by the Carousel of Progress building (America Sings was there at the time) walking towards the Skyway to Fantasyland. I really miss Skull Rock and the delicious tuna sandwiches they served. If Disneyland needs any improvement it would be in the food services department. The food is OK but the process to get it is painful. But back to nostalgia...remember all the great groups that would play at the Tomorrowland venue? I saw Gary Pucket and the Union Gap there at multiple shows during a 2-day visit to the park. I must have been EARLY teens, but I was sure he was singing "Young Girl" to me every show. I made sure to be right at the front each time. Linda Ronstadt played at Grad Night in '71 and it was fantastic. During high school, the lines never seemed to be a problem because that was prime time to size up the boys. It was an art to place yourself in the proper place in order to flirt with the cutest guys. Sandy (Adamson) and I were pretty good at it if I remember correctly. I tried to explain the technique to my (then) teenaged daughter and her friend on a trip to Knott's Berry Farm in 1992. Did not compute to their sensibilities at the time. Oh well...fun memories to muse over.

When he died in 1989, he was entombed with his Mickey Mouse watch. I'll admit that I had to go to the back of the book for that one (Yahoo).

Message: Armand I got the Khrushchev one! Just didn?t send it in?About the Ribbon cutting- After I got out of the Army in 82 I moved out to Barstow & began painting signs for income- I heard thru the grapevine there was an old man out in the desert who had a computer that would make signs automatically! So I went out to meet him. He explained how he used to hand-paint all the signage for Walt Disney at Disneyland! At the time A/B Plotter sign machines were just hitting the market. So he shared stories and photos of elaborate gold leaf windows from Main St. USA. Then I noticed a giant pair of 3 foot long gold leaf scissors hanging on the back wall of his shop! He said he actually built them for old man Disney so that Walt & his DAUGHTERS could cut the ribbon on opening day back in 1956! PS Ward Kimball?s (Mr. Jimmy Cricket?s illustrator) Grizzly Flats Narrow Gauge Rail Road can be visited by the public at the Orange Empire Railway Museum in Perris, Ca.!
