Message: went to SerraGreat vid on Disneyland, Went there for the 1st time in 1956 and was a regular back in the mid 60's during the summer when they had bands playing in each land. Just went last week with my daughters and 4 grandchildren from Missouri who were out for my mother's (Grace Rinaldi who taught at St Joseph's) 90th Birthday party at St Joseph's hall. The place still rocks and seeing it through the eyes of the grandkids was priceless. Love the web site. Even though I went to Serra I hung with the Hawthorne crowd.
Hey Fred, Check in any old time. All South Bayers are welcomed.

Message: Armand, I remember that incident well. In fact a few years ago I had to correct a history professor in class when he had the story a little wrong. It was 1959 and the world leader was Nikita Kruschev. He was very upset when the Secret Service said they could not provide him with the proper security. He asked if there were gangsters there that would kill him. I think it upset him more that they said his wife could go though.
That's what I was going to say....

That's what I was going to say.

Message: Dave, I was Doreen Whippo's step brother (my Mom and her Dad divorced around 1970-71). I also remember she had a boyfriend named Bill Whaley (sp). In any event, I've not seen or heard of Doreen since those days. I saw her brother Davey mentioned her awhile back but apparently he does not participate in CT.

So we went up to them and asked them where they got them. They told us at Westin Maui. It was neat seeing them wear my shirts

Message: Finally had a Cougar sighting! I was at the Irvine Spectrum last night when a beautiful young woman asked me if my name is Bonnie. I was totally taken by surprise when she told me her name, Bonnie Brodeur-Driscoll, c/o '81. We hadn't seen each other since the day I graduated in June of '78. So of course, we exchanged phone numbers and plan on keeping in touch now! It really is a small world after all....I hope to have many more sightings in the near future!

Message: Thank you for the Disneyland video. The first time I went there was with the Hawthorne Youth Band for the Christmas parade when I was in the 6th grade. I was awe struck! I have a picture of my older kids when they were little in the tea cups. My younger son used to look at it and ask if they poured hot water on you. I said no, the cups spun around. He said oh, then they pour hot water on you. I gave up trying to explain it to him. I'll just have to take him there! Thanks for the memories. John Keep up the good work!
Hi Kathy, When I was a kid, I thought they poured hot water on you too.

Message: To all you Cougs who commented on the Disneyland nostalgia? I humbly thank you. It was a great joy for me to produce and more than once I wandered down memory lane during its creation. But that is a big part of what Cougartown is all about and I?m so glad that many seem to have also enjoyed the journey back to our youth. I remember so many incredible experiences in that Magical Kingdom. The first time as a child driving up to the main gate with so much excitement I could not sit still, the many ?company night? when the would close the Park to the public from eight until one. If I remember right those tickets were $4.75. And, of course, there was Grad Night. It earned its title of the happiest place on earth many times over.
Thanks once again, Jerry, for all the nostalgia, and for all the behind the scenes things you do, from finding people, websites, etc. to just being UP FRONT involved. Jerry is another person I would have never known had it not been for Ctown. You've become a good friend, Jerry. Thanks for being a part of all this.

Message: Yeah, Penny Prouty it was alot of fun back then. Mr. Porter, Toms Dad ,Tom class of 60, who married my 5th grade sweetheart, also class of 60, Diane Berry, which meant absolutely nothing back then. I wasn't going to say she was my sweetheart. I'd have gotten run off the playground for liken girls. But Toms dad was such an unselfish person as I remember. He just wanted us guys to have fun playing ball. And you know, I'm still not quite sure we always rode in a pick up truck. But I just have this recollection and remember the guys in the back with the Bat bag and ball bags and we were headed for Skippys and hung over the back tail gate and looked for whatever bumped. Coulda been a cat, frog, dog, whatever. It was just fun times. No one worried about anyone falling out. It was a passing into adolescence. Or something like that. Most all are still with us. God bless em all. I've got a picture on my wall of that last Championship team. Thanks Penny, MAY THE COUGAR BE WITH YOU. JAKE N JUDE.
Sharon Moore, I hope you recover soon. I know what it's like to be laid up and hurting. Simple hip operation last year, I was going back to work in 4 weeks. 8 Weeks later. Well the rest is history. Take care. MAY THE COUGAR BE WITH YOU! JAKE N JUDE.

Message: The Monorail used to make it's rounds (still does) out of the park & over to the Disneyland Hotel. Here's the thing, you can try ...park close to the Hotel , walk over and buy an "entry Pass" in the Lobby. Go up stairs and get on the Monorail, which will speed you along thru the park past all the crowds of folks that were ahead of you now mashing into the front gate. The Monorail stops in Toworrow Land! So Ta-Daa You are ready to get in line on the Space Mountain! While all the throngs are just pushing there way up Main Street! Besides there are some really cool shops & restaurants over in the Disneyland Hotel....
