Message: Our Cougartown Classic golf tournament was the best! We had 40 golfers, our largest ever. I think everyone had a good time, I know I did. Anita, it was a pleasure having you as part as our foursome, we did a lot of laughing. Congrats to the Effler boys with their big win. I met Rich Sloan who just cracked me up. It was good to see Walter Holt again and congrats to Barbara for her longest drive. I did get a few long drives, unfortunately they just didn't count on those holes. Anyway, Bud, Wade and I are already working on next years event and we are looking to make some improvements. Thank you to those who showed up. And girls, we are going to make it a little bit more chick-friendly next year, so get ready.
Sounds like everyone had a fun day. Looking forward to next years Classic.

Message: Bo Derek, real name Marry Collins, attended Narbonne High but did not graduate (high school dropout)due to her very poor attendance. What really bugs me is, when she was on the David Letterman show and tried to tell him she attended high school in Mision Viejo. Bo are you embarrassed that you lived in the slumy part of the L.A. Strip just down the street from where I lived? In addition why is Bo such a big deal? If you really want to talk about people with tallent who attended Narbonne here are a few names. Larry Carlton, considered to be one of the countries premier gutarist, Joe Puerta, one of the founding members of the rock group Ambrosia, and most importantly, Alan Devore, Medal of Honor recipent-Vietnam.
Hey Reggie, This is the Cougar website. You want the Gaucho website.

I just ran into Maria (Lococco) in Hawthorne at the Ayres (WHAT A A HOTEL) for my Mom's Funeral Party....and Party it was. Let's get caught up. Life is SHORT. I have BIG plans for that night-Room locked in at the Ayres, can it get any better? I also want to personally invite Jim Bistolas and Glen Vickers to SHOW UP. I've been talking to Ronda (Hall) Hill, and we want to get the girls' volleyball team (any mid-70's year) together that morning for a few games! We're thinking of doing it in Huntington Beach (up for discussion), maybe at the City Gym. I would love to hear from you girls!! (Your significant others can play, too!) Where are you, Kim Bueltel, Tammy Tagami-Reeves, Debbie Brown, Patti Emde Garcia, Paula Lutz, Risa and Marla Manriquez, Luaine Holen, Liz Frietag, my sisters Beth, Peggy, Patti (T1, T3, T4)? and anyone else from JV's in '76? If it's been too long and you don't want to actually play, at least come hang out! You can ref, or just laugh at the rest of us!
Hey T2, How are you doing? Sounds like the class of 76 is going to have a Blockbuster of a reunion. Please do not miss it. If anyone knows how to contact any of the above, please let them know and have them add their address info to the Ctown Info System so they can be contacted by the 76 Reunion Committee. Message: What a blast we had at the Cougartown Classic. Bud and Wade did another outstanding job of putting this event together again this year. Of course the Effler Bros. took the prize for the lowest score, I still think we should have a surf off for it. I got to play golf with an old friend, Steve Fraser, whom I hadn't seen in over 40 years and his best friend Kirk. What a couple of fun guys, Barbara and I had a great time playing golf with them. Barbara even got the prize for the ladies long ball contest, winning a golf lesson, so she was really jazzed about that. Anita Harmon played and like Barbara had only taken up golf 4 weeks ago. Jill McFarland was there in her 3rd year of attendance, so Cougartettes it is not how long you've played or how well you play come on out next year and enjoy the fun. Well it's back to surfing and trying to tune my golf game for next year. Got another new board to add to my quiver I'm picking up today so I hope another swell like last week comes in soon. John let me know if the photos came in ok.
Hey Walter, Looks like you guys and girls had a fun day in the sun. Thanks for the pictures and I'll add them as soon as a few more come in. Thanks to all who showed for our Ctown Classic this year and again, thanks to Bud and Wade for handling the event.

Nevertheless, thanks to you John and all the regular Cougs through which I get vicariously reconnected once in awhile. It never ceases to amaze me how much HHS means to me...guess it is because all my memories from that time are good.
Hey Bill, Thanks for the note. Glad you're still out there reconnecting with your HHS friends as that's what we're here for. Stay well and talk to you soon.

Message: David Kelly, too bizare! And you and I were classmates! We moved to Hawthorne in 1968 and I attended Eucalyptus starting in 4th grade. We first lived at 12731 Gale Avenue (next to, among others, Omar Azze and Kathy Atkins and across the street from "the Andersons" -- including my classmate Danny Anderson -- what a tough bunch of Hot Rodders they were!). Anyway, although we moved to Hawthorne my sister continued at Morningside where she earned her diploma (Monarch, '69). In the late 70s, my sister moved to 5430 w 121st street -- where she still resides having mothered three "Bamrick" Cougars through HHS Classes of '92, '96 and '00.

Message: Was at the pre golf tournament party at Gaetanos tonight and had a great time. There were grads from mostly the 60's and 70's. Dori (owner) was a great hostess and made us all very much at home. If you have never been to Gaetanos on PCH and Crenshaw, do yourself a favor and go, you will enjoy yourself and dinner! Have a great golf touranment Saturday! If anyone is around on Sunday, come to the VFW on 131st, west of Hawthorne Blvd. (top of the hill) for breakfast...9 to 11:30 AM. The best breakfast in town and only $6. You can circle everything on the menu, if you are really hungry. Our own grad from the class of 63, Jan Blomsterberg is the head cook...Hope to see you there!
Is every other grad from HHS somehow in the restaurant game?

Message: Is anyone taking pictures of the golf tournament tomorrow so they can be posted on CT? I'd love to see them! Didn't have any Cougar sightings today but my friend's dog brought him a baby armadillo from out of the woods! Yes that has absolutely nothing to do with nothing and was just an excuse to tell my latest Texas adventure (well besides the one of him trying to shoot a skunk with his .22). I'll be fixin' (make it stop!) to start saying y'all (no I won't) and rawt now (noooooo I won't) any day now! But it's definitely a hoot to hear everyone else around me say it. A Texan actually asked me yesterday if I was from the west coast because of my "accent" !! Like omigod, I'm so shure, like you know, like how did he know? (John I didn't forget about the couple of pages I still owe... y'all... for the '76 pages!) I'm so confused...
Cindy girl, why I tried to add that pitcher you sent but, I'll swan, it was jes too durn dark. And that there new boyfren your so sweet on that's ashootin at skunks....why he hain't much brighter'n a firefly is he, unlessen maybe he's apartial too that stench ahangin round the back 40 for a few days. Nuther waya tellin ifn hes slowern grampas libido is ifn he has two firs names like Bubba Ray or Johnny Bob. Now that thers a ded giveaway. I'll be a hangin round the post box awaitin fer them El mulino pitchers. Know rush....

Also, while I am here. If you are from the class of '86 or know somebody who is, please be sure I have current mailing information. We are getting close to sending out invites and we hope to contact as many of our classmates as possible. We also hope to hear from teachers during this time also.
Searching for alumni is HARD work!

Message: Just got back from Gaetanos in Torrance from the Cougartown pre-golf tournament get together.
Great turnout tonight and met a bunch of Cougars that are household names on the website, but had never met in person.
Gaetanos is a fun place on PCH and Crenshaw and class of 1973's Dori Gestone Giuliano is a most gracious hostess. After only a few minutes, I felt like we were old classmates. I've never been to Gaetanos before, but will definitely be back. They have a piano player and he plays this "Girl From Ipanema" piano bar type music. I found out that he was Grand Funks keyboard player. Man has he changed his musical style.
ALSO for all you class of 62ers, Frank Oliver from our class plays on Wednesday nights at Gaetanos. Frank, I'll be down to see you too.
Another Cougar who just happened to be there was Bob Wormas from the class of 1960. He says he's in there every Friday night. Anyway we had a ball just talking about this guy and that girl and where we all lived, and I knew your sister from the class of whatever.
If anyone is looking for a fun place to eat, please give the Dori Gestone's "Gaetanos" a try. I'm sure you'll love the place.
Also saw George Gross and his wife Carol Scimes Gross, who came down for the tournament from Henderson NV. I haven't seen George since the early 60s and he looks like he just stepped out of an El Molino. Thanks for being there George, I enjoyed catching up. Also, thanks again to Wade and Bud, who were both there, for this fun event. Looks like we've got about 72 signed up for the Golf Tournament tomorrow and if it's half as much fun as I had tonight with you all, it'll be the best one ever. See you all tomorrow on the links.

Message: Gary Bickers, I agree with Bake, thats funny stuff. It reminds me of my brothers 51 Chevy that he said he was going to "soup up" so he could beat dump trucks. He put three one barrels on it, sounded like an airplane that couldn't take off. Went to school one day and got called out of class because his car was on fire. Never did beat a dump truck. MAY THE COUGAR BE WITH YOU! Jake N Jude.
Yep, I had a 52 Chevy that was forever backfiring through the carburetor. It was perpetually on fire.

Message: Reading about Bruce George's Chevy, I thought it was a '56 Nomad; I remember it went 80 in first, 65 in second and about 45 in third. The car always looked good. This brings me to the worst street race of the '60's on Hawthorne Blvd. This was across the street from Foster's on 120th street going north on Hawthorne. The guys were Jerry Benson in a Nash Metropolitan and Bruce George in his Morris Minor. They both hit the gas and by the time they went 100 yards a Hawthorne Police car passed both of them on the right and never knew they were racing. The thrill of victory and the agony of defeat.
NOW THAT'S HILARIOUS!! Thanks for that one, Gary....
