Message: First of all, Dean Morris thank you for your glowing report on the Uncle Buck's Pretzels at unclebuckspretzels.com. We here at Uncle Buck's have always thought they were the best, now who could argue with someone from the farm?! Not me. Second, John Baker congratulations on the 800 pages, that is no small feat especially if they were all printed on 8.5x11 paper you would have in excess of 10,400 pages; laid side by side they would extend a long ways.
Yes they would and I'm not just saying that. The BIG thing is it was YOU and good Cougars like you who wrote them. Thank you all for joining and staying with this party for the last 8 or 9 years. It's been a real hoot getting to know lots here and in person. Hawthorne High has the greatest grads anywhere in the world. I love you all and as Bartles and James said, "thank you for your support". HEY, where did those two get off to??

Message: John ??? I posted to feedback yesterday and since it didn't show up today, guess you didn't get it, huh? That's weird. I finally make it back to CT and then my posts won't post! LOL! I congratulated you on page 800 and wondered why no one but the Jake Man had even mentioned it. It seems like always before, everyone was trying to make an appearance on the next 100th page. Well, in case it has slipped anyone's attention, HAPPY 800 and many many more John. Thanks a bunch for COUGARTOWN!!!
Why thank you Doris. I guess it's just getting to be old hat. Actually I didn't even think about it until Jake mentioned it. Thanks again for the nice thoughts. You're the third person that's said they had trouble this weekend. Guess I'll have to polish up the brass knuckles and pay a visit to the Hosting service.

Message: Hey John, I never really knew Marlas dad, but her mom was with her at our 25 year reunion. Marla was a friend of mine since 8th grade My buddy André was going with her and I think I went with her sister Risa for a couple days. That Summer the four of us, our friends from H I S, and about a third of the incoming freshman of the class of 79, took over the wall and a big chunk of the beach next to the north side of the Manhattan Beach Pier. I did not miss one day at the beach that summer. One day it was cold, over cast and windy. Marla, Risa, their mom, a few others and myself, toughed it out and laid out all day working on our tans just so we wouldn?t miss a day??? Hey Terry, I wasn?t on the team but I took Fencing with Mr Williams the Art Teacher in 79. That was an easy 5 credits. You just had to show up for 8th period on Fridays and fiddle with our foils for fifty minutes. It was my Fifty minute Foil Fiddling Friday Fencing class for Fifty easy credits??? :O)
I LIKE IT!! Dennis, you are an "alliterate" kinda guy.....Mr. Plotkin, is that a word?
And as for Marla and Risa, I remember them running around in diapers.

Message: Hi John, In response to your comment... Oh, I crossed the finish line alright and marched away the dreaded miles before. But it was an excruciating walk and coupled with my horrible habit of procrastination, I just didn't get around to telling the story as soon as I should have. And I must confess - walking all those miles took the wind right out of my sails. I haven't walked over 4 miles at one time since.
I don't do well with internet, but John, I really appreciate all you do to keep this fine web site. And while I don't contribute much - close to zilch, it's great to hear all the stories. And I'm finding real life Cougar prints all over our 10 acres. We have a nice looking, lean and young Cougar (mountain lion) who includes the bird and wildlife sanctuary as part of his territory. We are fortunate to see him every once in a while. About a month ago he crossed our road in front of my truck when I was coming in from town. Always reminds me of my roots and where I come from!
Thanks, John!
I like the HHS Cougars, but the others, not so much.

Message: Well I am getting excited about our reunion and seeing everyone. I am planning on coming in the end of July. Me and a friend are coming. They have monthly cruises from Honolulu to LA now and we are looking into doing the 11 day cruise over. Not sure yet. I know 11 days of eating all the food I can could ruin what I have been working on. But I will fly into Vegas or Burbank. Never LAX anymore. End of July is a show in Vegas I have to go to. Then a few days in Palm Springs and then spend the last couple weeks in LA seeing everyone. Will probably head back here the Monday after the reunion unless I hookup with Kathy Lynch or Diane Plinck. The two girls in high school I really liked.
Smooth Keith, REEEEAALL SMOOTH.....

Message: Testimonial for Uncle Buck's Pretzels: Just completed two batches of Uncle Buck's pretzels and I have to admit, they are definitely 5 Star comfort food. Cinammon are great tasting and like a good sweet roll while the garlic flavored make for an awesome appetizer, chased by a beer. These babies are not for the carb shy consumer, but if you believe the label, you are getting a load of protein at the same time (hmmmmmm?).
Jimbo, I wonder if John Candy had a few of these during his days before he played Uncle Buck in the movies?
Hey Dean, Uncle Buck's Pretzels were diet food for John Candy.

Message: Hey John - Ski season has been extended! Here in Nevada City we have a new 10" of snow and more on the way. Living here is nothing like the trips to Big Bear or Arrowhead in my childhood! Has anyone been to Big Bear lately to compare with the 60's. We used to have a cabin there and I'm sure the area has made a huge change.
Big Bear, this weekend, is having one of the biggest snows in years. They said it should extend this years tourist season at least 8 weeks. I talked to your brother about an hour ago and he's off to Truckee tonight to do chain control for the state for at least a week.

Message: It?s been quite some time since I chimed in on good old Cougartown. But since it?s page 800 I thought I would jump in. Had a Cougar sighting a couple months ago while attending the Cal-Jam Paintball Tourney/Expo at Hollywood Sports Park in Bellflower. I was walking along on my way to the exit when I spot none other than our own Marla Manriquez C/O 79 aka Pro Women?s Beach Volleyballer Marla O?Hara. She was there supporting her son who is an up and comer in the world of Pro Paintball Players. Also, while I have not met him yet, I understand my daughters boss at Pavillions in Mission Viejo is also a Cougar his name is Barry something or another. Also my sisters boss at A-1 Awards in Mission Viejo is Bob Damon C/O 68? I haven?t met him yet either, but I here he looks in on this feedback page. Hey Bob! BTW I had a great time at the C-Town Picnic and finally getting to meet John B and many other C-Towners. (I finally know what V & B Girls are) Then later that night, crashing the class of 80 reunion. I hadn?t seen any of those people since I moved out of Hawthorne in 1980.
Hey Dennis, Thanks for the update on Marla and the rest. I used to go street racing with Marla's dad back in the 60s. He was one fun guy too. Cruise night is coming up March 25th. Hope to see you and lots of our Ctown family there.

Message: Paco, your pictures are fab! I love the old Frosty's photos. And of course the Cub Scouts- you know we're big supporters of the Scouting program here. I have a picture of my Cub Scouts too, that I display in my entry hall; even though I haven't seen most of those kids for six years or so, when I look at that pic I remember all the fun stuff we did together. I remember Ellis, too; he still has that beautiful smile! Just a note, the 76 reunion invitations are in the mail last Thursday! Fill out your reservation form and send it in asap cause we have limited seating and it's first come, first served!
Fab... Haven't heard that word for years. Wasn't that a laundry detergent?

Message: Dan, That Basketball Tournament was the Hawthorne Christmas Tournament. I believe Pacific Palisades with Kiki Vaderweigh won the whole thing. He is now G.M. for the Denver Nuggets. Also one guy you forgot to mention is Paul Molkesski from Crespi High who went on to play for the Milwaukee Bucks. It's amazing to think that three guys who played in that Tournament went to the N.B.A. and had sucessful careers. I still mention that Tournament to High School players I work with.

Message: Hey John - I was expecting a Cougar sighting last Sunday, but it didn't happen - was looking forward to seeing you. (We had four Cougars there - Tom '58, Gordon '62, Me '66 and Ginny '69). Actually, I did have a Cougar sighting (of sorts) a couple of weeks ago. I was reading The Union newspaper here in Nevada City and Carl Bryan ('66) was on the wellness page. He has been diagnosed with prostate cancer and he was letting his story be told.
Hey Myrna, Sorry I missed you guys. I really would've liked to have seen you all, especially your dad.

Message: Ellis looks like he could still pour in 20 a night! I sent Ellis a photo (that I put up on Frapper) from a basketball camp I went to at El Camino circa 1975. In the photo are Cougar John Welch, Sea King Bill Laimbeer, Sea Hawk Gig Sims, Falcon Marc Wilson and Dolphin Kiki Vandeweghe. If I recall correctly, in Ellis' senior year, Hawthorne had a Varsity basketball tournament that featured these players along with James "Trouble" Hardy who went to USF and played along side Bill Cartwright. I cannot recall who won the tourney but the games were amazing (and the sophs (me) got to do all kinds of things like bring towels to the teams and keep stats)
