Message: Wade and I had the tough task yesterday to perform a "menu observation" at Gaetano's in Torrance. Gaetano's is where we will kick off the C-Town classic weekend on May 20th at 6pm. Dori Giuliano Gestone has done a fantastic job with her restuarant. She is a warm, elegant and gracious host. The food is great and the room very comfortable. If you can't make it to any of the Saturday events please try to stop by on that Friday for what's shaping up to be quite the get-together.
For all that don't know (it's not posted). We are having a pre-golf tournament dinner at Gaetanos on Crenshaw and PCH. I forget to price, but Bud will fill you in a little later. If you can make it, please do. Just another excuse to see your Ctowner-HHS friends and kick off a fun event. Thanks again, Bud and Wade.....

Message: when i was living on 133rd street in the the 50's and 60's my Dad would be under the house with a garden hose draining the water so we would have heat..since the clay didn't let the water soak in.. our gas floor furnace would flood out with only a little rain.
I hope you are all safe..I hear the storm is heading east...our great weather is leaving ...and we just planned a trip to Port Orford to a cabin on the beach. I'm glad the heat is gone makes for a normal trip...watching the rain, warm and cozy..better than a tent any day..
We had a floor furnace too, but we didn't have the flooding problem. I do remember straddling that thing on cold mornings. It would fill your PJs with warm air and take the chill off you in a few seconds. Thanks Kel and have a fun trip.....

Message: Big John and I had a great time at Cruise night! It was wonderful meeting others from different classes and best of all hooking up with my own classmates. (I love that pix of us '76ers!) It was a day of laughter and tears; John and I had just come from Bret Keys' funeral. It was a great tribute to him and a privilege to be there. It was wonderful to see Chris Tanori , Scott Burlingame and Alan Campbell all with their lovely wives and Rod Beck and his son. Moments like that are reminders of our own mortality, so it made the evening even more special. Dave K. please get in touch regarding your LV vacation; it would be great to visit with you and your family!! Thanks to John B. for this awesome website! XXOOG

Message: Hello My Friends, Another sad passing. Today, February 23, 2005, my father was called to heaven by our Savior. He was my best friend and, of course, the best dad in the world. All of us Crotty children were there when he left. We know you will all grieve with us, as is such a huge privilege when you are a member of C-town. If JB will allow, I will offer more later. He was not an alumni, but he sent all of us to HHS. And, he was a true man, and an absolute hero. I gotta go now. Your friend, John T. Crotty.
Hi John, Knowing how hard is it to lose a father, I want to send along sincere condolences to you and all in the Crotty family from everyone in Cougartown. Yes, please pass on any info you want to convey. Very sorry for your loss.

I said you've heard of it and he said yes I drove for them back in 1946 and 1947. I said no way and couldn't believe it. He used to drive in the Culver City area the little Helms Van. I thought that was neat. Oh his last name was Holmes not Helms.
That guy has got to be almost 80 years old and he's still working out? Maybe his last name should be LaLanne.

I remember at that time the intersection of 135th and Prairie was very low and I would take dad's pick-up along with a 50' chain, head over there and earn a few bucks pulling flooded cars out of the lake. The older cars flooded out very easily when the fan picked up the water and blew it over the ignition system.
That's part of the "good ol' days" that I don't care to re-visit.
Yep, I was attending Hawthorne Christian School at that time and remember riding my bike down Prairie through that swamp. Lots of fun then.
BTW, for all who don't know, Denny has a great website. Check it out when you have a minute and leave some Feedback on his BRAND NEW guestbook page... VERY cool.

Message: Man o Man...It's raining cats and dogs out here. California has received more rain this season than Seattle. This poor old desert land isn't used to this but it sure brings back memories of the Hawthorne floods. Some time in the mid fifties we had a similar wet season but without the convenience of storm drains. Karen Considine and I would put on our rain boots and jackets and hide ourselves under an umbrella and walk in the rain singing "One Hundred Bottles of Beer On The Wall"....for what seemed like hours. She was my best friend. We told each other everything under that umbrella. Stay dry Cougs! Have we made the 30" mark on rainfall yet?
I think I heard we are at 33" and the record for LA is 38". We've had 7" since last Thursday. Why is everything OREGON GREEN? My moss is growing moss.

We had the most spectacular lightening and thunderstorm last night that I got up and sat in the upstsairs living room to watch it over the city. I watched it and felt it until 2:00 o'clock this morning. Never in my memory have I ever experienced one quite so strong and brilliant. I just love all that power in nature. A friend of mine, who believes in numerology, said this is year 'One' for me, based on my birthdate. It is the year of new beginnings, in a nine year cycle. New career, new relationships, new adventures. Last year was year Nine...the year of endings...imagine my surprise. Thank you for all your kind wishes.
