And speaking of Brian Wilson..My 15 year old who is in choir at school chose "God Only Knows" to sing for his class. Excellent choice!

Message: Interesting item was mentioned by the principal of the high school my son now attends: principals of both Hawthorne and Leuzinger are on the "to be fired" list because neither high school has met its numerical targets under "no child left behind." I wonder how much of an additional upset it is to have principals changing. The gentleman giving the speech at the PTA meeting yesterday did say that these two are dealing with gangs, malnutrition, poverty (many kids have to work fulltime to assist with their families), and lack of English reading, speaking, and writing skills in their student populace.
We were lucky to go to school at HHS that it's sad so much has changed.

Message: Hello to all Cougars and whoever else reads the feedback! I've enjoyed reading about child upbringing in the feedback. Just to add something I think is pertinent. Recently, Stephie Hall Brito sent me the book The Greatest Generation by Tom Brokaw. It's a great read and gives a lot of incite into who our parents were and why they were the greatest generation. They also produced a great generation of kids, us. But somehow things have gone a little wrong since then, at least in my opinion. Anyway for what it's worth, I suggest a look at the book. You'll shed some tears, but they'll be worth it! Take care and God bless you all, Jim Peppers
Thanks Jim.....

Hey Don, Glad to hear it.....UH, you coming to Cruise night, not the Green Hell part. Since the rain, my front yard has turned into a toad stool party. See you there.

Does anyone remember the Olympics in LA when everything was going to shut down the city; the same thing happened in Washington, all the locals left and it was wonderful for us tourists.
The only thing different was having an F16 off the wing of our plane about 300 yards on approach.
Bless the red states.
Hey Gary, Hope all's going well. Cruise Night Feb 12th. Grab a few buddies and come on down.

An after-dinner (very small) non-dairy sugar-free piece of dark chocolate will be the take-away memento.
Afterwards, there will be a gathering at McDonald's for all still hungry.
Thanks Laura, It's funny that a class with tons of classmates on the Alumni List would just wait around for someone ELSE to do something. Amazing...

I asked a few months ago and had no takers. I did the 10 the 20 and the 25 and I'm tired. Dale, Lisa, Dennis come on someone out there must want to get this thing going. It would be a shame to see our year go by without getting together. We have all the previous stuff in a box ready to be sent. Any takers???
Heather's right, 75ers, the rest is the easy part. You've got 167 classmates listed that will help find the rest. It's not like you have to start at zero anymore. That's one big reason why this site is here; to keep classmates together. Someone email Heather, leave a feedback, and take the initiative. Times a wastin', 75ers.

Message: Hi everyone! I had to let you know I had a Cougar siting via phone. I was calling a title company the other day to open a title order on one of my escrows and started chatting with the guy on the open order desk about the south bay. I told him I grew up in Hawthorne and he said his Mom and her siblings did too. Her name was Rosmarie Unruh (sp?) class of 69 I think he said. I told him to tell her about C-town and to check in to feedback. Also Liz you are so right about the kid thing. I dont have any but seeing my neighbors kids being out of control and her saying there just being independent and they need to be who they are makes me ill. Talk about birth control, who needs the pill! I wish I could make cruise night but Kelly Sturgeon and I are going to Laughlin for her B day that weekend. Hope you all have fun.
Hey Lori, Thanks for the Cougar siting report. We'll miss you and Mario at Cruise Night but will see you two at the next one. Have fun in Laughlin....

Message: It's time for the class of 76 to start planning our 30 year reunion. I know it's a year early but I'd like to start gathering info now. I'd like to hear from 76'ers on ideas, suggestions, etc. Also would like to hear from other reunion planners who have had experience with reunion planning companies- who's good, who's not. If I don't hear from anyone who wants to help, count on it happening in Thousand Oaks in April or May 2006. (Said the little red hen.)
It's been my experience that all of the reunion planning companies take way too much for themselves and set up minimal reunions. It takes a little more planning but it's well worth the extra labor.
Prom 2001 was done by us, the committee, and I thought came off very well. Of course it wasn't a reunion, but was planned as a classy get together. Also, reunions should be set up so people can get together with friends and talk. You don't want loud music as people want to converse, not shout. If you want music, get a DJ, that way you can control the DB level. Much cheaper too. Food can be minimal. Classmates want to visit, not eat. A buffet style works very well for reunions and is more reasonable than sit down dinners. Just my opinion.
It is reunion planning time again, so whoever is planning reunions for the classes of 65, 75, 85, and 95, please send me the info so I can add your reunion details to the Reunions Page. Thanks Cougs....

In my senior year, he, along with Sgt Williams, interceded on my behalf & got me out of a potentially bad situation. Never forgot that. Two more good guys! HHS former classmate Mike Effler, I believe, is still w/ HPD, unless he's been able to "hang it up".
Hey Jim, I was in Boy Scouts with Doug Geller, an all around nice guy too. And SGT Williams got ME out of a scrape too, by just taking the beer away and telling us all to GO HOME!! Another one of Hawthorne's finest. Thanks for remembering a trio of great guys in Hawthorne history.

Hey Murph', I remember you working the back door at A&W on the weekends. Great to hear from you. It's been about 45 years since those days. I know you remember Fred Moore, my favorite ticket writer in Hawthorne. He tagged me probably 9 times in my youth. Most for NO reason.
