Message: Cougar sighting! Cougar Sighting! (Arranged) This morning I had breakfast at Hermosa Pier with Jim Gibson, HHS '67. Jim and his wife and daughter are in SoCal for the Brian Wilson concert which was at UCLA last night. We had a great bull session. Told some good lies--not really. Another mini-reunion made possible entirely through CT. Thanks John. Brother Mike: Where were you? You weren't there to defend yourself, so you're on your own for setting the record straight.
Love those mini reunions, Ron, Thanks.....

Message: Been awhile John. A long time ago Don Scheliga, Norm Greenfield, Keith Pulcifer and I would sing our hearts out cruising down Hawthorne Blvd. singing what we thought was the REAL Hawthorne High School fight song.
Enjoy
"Beer, beer for ole Hawthorne High, you bring the whisky I?ll bring wine.
Send the freshmen out for gin and don?t let a sober sophomore in.
Juniors may stagger but we never fall, we sober up on wood alcohol.
While our loyal faculty goes staggering down the halls, burp...burp".

The above was sung to the Notre Dame fight song.
Bryan

Hey Bryan, Thanks for the BEST school fight song I've EVER heard. And I can just see you 4 singing it too. Thanks for the laugh and for letting us know you're still out there.

Looks like I'll need to stay at the beach overnight again! Last weekend my 20 yr. old daughter and I went and saw Lesley Gore at the Palmdale festival. The woman can still really belt out a song. Y'all take care now and God bless
OK Debra, we'll save you a seat....

Ah yes, Eucalyptus Park and after-game dances. Never danced with a soul but it was still lots of fun. Thanks Gary.....

I don't think there is anything wrong with a little constructive criticism. All I was trying to say is it would of been nice if he would of just e-mailed Enza and Wade directly instead of all of CT to read. That's what he did with me when he didn't think it was right to post a story I sent to him. And in case anyone has forgotten, I was raised in Hawthorne too. Why do you think I check CT...it's for the same reason everyone else does.
Jessie, Just think, if YOU would've emailed me, instead of plastering it on Feedback,
then all this wouldn't be happening right now. AND I have emailed them before.

I for one really enjoy hearing the old stories about before I went to HHS and the stories of the reunions and the get togethers and seeing the photos. I like to hear of the passing of a cougar. What I don't like to read is some one pissing up the rope about the wrong person. John this Web site you have started went on long before I found it, and after I found it I connected with friends. So thanks for all your hard work and dedication to do this for us. With that said I will be off for the Sun and Fun of the other Disneyland (Disneyworld) and the nice weather in Sunny Orlando Fl. for one week with my Family. John thanks again and God bless you and if anyone wants complain about this my e-mail is posted.

On jessies behalf, I'd just like to say I think she meant well and was just trying to stick up for Enza and Wade. Let's get on being good Ctowners.

You are so out of line here. We are all here as guests of John Baker and we should all be so very grateful to him for bringing us all together, not critical of how he runs this website! YOU try doing what John does, for a WEEK! Try walking in the other person's shoes before judging them. Enza and Wade have been using this site for basic email to each other for months and months and it was about time John mentioned it. We've probably all been guilty of carrying on with things that were not Hawthorne or HHS oriented, and he has set the rest of us straight, too. Now come on kids; let's get over this and on with HHS sitings, news and remembrances of Hawthorne, and FUN. See you in the funnypapers. SMILE!!

Message: John, While going back and reading the feed back, I read your comment to Enza and Wade about not going back and forth with the death of her mom on the feedback. I think this was very unsensitive of you to say this to her nd Wade on feed back for all of CT to read. It sounded like you were repremanding them. The proper way to have delt with it would of been to write her and Wade personally at their e-mail address. You did this when I submitted something you thought not CT material and I'm not even a Cougar! It is the least you could of done for them.
You mean like you're reprimanding ME on Feedback right now? First of all it has nothing to do with Enza's mom. It DOES have to do with people chatting about personal things on the Feedback page. This Feedback page is supposed to be about Hawthorne and HHS. Lots of times it gets WAY off the subject; lots and LOTS of leeway given here. When I think enough has been said then I'll email the persons involved. If all people need to be re-acquainted with the HHS-Hawthorne subject rule, then I'll say something on the Feedback page so ALL will know.
The other thing is, and I've said this before, that Feedbacks are all placed here, MANUALLY, by me. I receive the formmail; format it, add a senior or other picture, and copy it to the html page, connect to the server, and upload it for all to read. I'm not complaining, as I do like the interaction between all Ctowners, but when you start talking to some other person about some non-HHS/Hawthorne subject and they respond through Feedback to you, and you Feedback them back, You have to realize I'm just playing the part of "Email Forwarder". It takes time to stop and add these comments and maybe only two or three people care about the subject matter.
Hell, I've been called insensitive before, but I think it's more out of frustration for me. I'm sorry you feel that way and I'm sorry to Wade and Enza, or anyone else for my insensitivity. I guess it's just the way I was brought up, in Hawthorne.

Message: I just remembered something that I have been meaning to ask any Cougars out there....Does any one remember the Polychrome Pen? This was a little booklet full of poems etc that Mr Kirkpatrick had created. My sister had several poems in it in 1967. I had about 8 poems in the 1968 copy. We both had taken Mr Kirkpatricks Creative Writing class. That was my favorite class during my years at HHS. I lost my copy several years ago....I will be surprised if any one out there remembers that....It would be nice though.
With all these great cheers what about some great cheer leaders? My favorite was in my freshman year...Sherry Nichols....She graduated in 1965. I can't recall a cheer leader with more team spirit than Sherry. She was my next door neighbor for awhile. Eventually John Normans family moved into that house. Does any one remember Sherry Nichols?

Well John....looks like Cougartown did it again...I have recently connected with an old friend. My friend Nancy Martin Adams found me in the Alumni list and e mailed me. We met way back in 1958 or 59. I was in the 4th grade and Nancy was in the 3rd at Eucalyptus. She had moved down the street from me. We were friends til 1968 when I graduated and moved. (Nancy graduated in 69).
I have been thinking about her a lot so it was great to hear from her! What a surprise too! I graduated the same year her brother George did...It was interesting to find out what was going on with Nancy and George. I'm sure a lot of people remember George. So once again...THANK YOU John...You have brought back a big part of my childhood with this connection....Nancy and I did a lot of crazy things growing up...I guess this can be a cougar siting sort of. Til the next time...

Hi Jean, That's great. Always good to hear of old friends reconnecting.

Message: Here's a cheer story. I played tennis as a JV my freshman year, and during one of my games playing against Morningside (at Morningside) I began to feel very nervous. Hands sweaty, and heart pounding. To ease my nervousness, I started cheering to myself... GO GO GO, GO YOU MIGHTY COUGAR, GO GO GO, GO YOU MIGHTY COUGAR. All the way thru the whole game, and in the end, I won my match, despite their CHEATING!!!! Thanks to that cheer I was able to overcome my fear. I think I'll use that cheer again, next time I'm overcome with fear.
By the way, I played mixed doubles with our principal George Key as my partner during one of the teacher/player tournament. We lost to Sue Camu and another male teacher who's name I can't recall. Mr. Key, you're still a hero to me. Mr. Atkins used to tell me about some of the things that you went thru during the war. I was impressed then, and I'm still impressed now. I hope one day you can tell your stories to all of us.

Thanks Maria and yes Jorge, it's time to hear from you.
