Message: Wade, Wade, Wade, (I just have to do that!!) :) Thank you so much for all your kind words. They truly do mean a lot to me. I had wondered where you had been. You usually post on a regular basis, as I recall. I hope that life is treating you well, and that you and your family are healthy. Give you Mom a hug for me, OK? Yes, it's very heartbreaking when we lose a loved one. In my Mom's case, it was a blessing that she was only bed ridden for only 7 days with tremendous pain~and stopped taking liquids and food. We/she knew the end was near. We were all gathered around her bed, toasting her life with Champagne. She saw all her family around her, and then the next morning she decided it was time for her to 'Go Home'. Finally Home mama.....I'll see you in my dreams...
Please, I don't want, or mean, to be disrespectful but feedback is for Hawthorne and HHS talk. Wade, I know you're going to want to answer Enza's feedback so please email her. That's why there's a place for an email address on the feedback form. I wish we had an infinite amount of web space but, unfortunately, we do not. Thanks for understanding......

Hi Andrea, Sounds like you take pride in HHS too. Glad to hear from you, thanks for the update and please add to feedback anytime.

Thanks to them for having me. I forgot to ask if anyone knows where Joyce Bleeker is? She moved in her Senior year and finished school in the Pamona area. I would love to contact her if I could. Thanks!

Message: Hi John, Its been awhile since I have graced these wonderful pages. Hoping to visit more often in the future. I have a question for you...I sent my dues to you I think in either April or May. Now, my question is this, do I owe them again for this year? I wasn't sure just what my previous payment covered. If I owe dues again, please let me know and I will get the money to you. I, for one, appreciate all that you do to keep this web site up and running so we can come back occasionally and relive great memories. Thank you again.
Hi Pat, If you sent your initial dues in May 2003, it counts just as if you had sent them in June 2003. Your dues are paid to June 2004. Thank you for asking....

Message: Well, John, my sister heard it from me that Mr. Williams died. I don't recall where I heard it, but obviously was an unreliable source. Probably from someone my age who, like me, is not hearing as good as I used to, or who simply is getting senile. Sorry about that and I guess I have to eat crow now. I will, of course, have to apologize to my sister in person, darn it.

Message: Wow! Really changing the face of HHS! Does anyone remember having pizza brought in for lunch in Mr. William's art class? He got in trouble for that and we had to stop having them delivered to the room while we continued to do our art work. Mr. Williams was one of a kind and I am so thankful for his tutoring. Still remember much of what he taught us and am sad to hear he passed. Does anyone know where Rene Zukerburg is these days or John Graham? Email me please. Thanks!
Hi Susie, Don't know who you heard it from but the last I knew Mr. Williams was alive and well and living in Utah.

Message: WOW! Looking at the picture you posted of the construction my first question is.....What happened to Senior Square?? Are the attendance windows still there?? I'm all for upgrading but (sniff sniff) what about tradition? My daughters school doesn't have a senior square...just something called Senior Walk and since the school is grossly overcrowded it's pretty lame. I told her about our square and how great it was to finally be able to sit in it while watching new freshman being dumped into trashcans.....ahhh....brings back memories.
Sorry Laura, but Senior Square, as we knew it, is gone. The way I heard it, the NEW Senior area will be between the 2 story science building and the shops. Yes, the attendance windows are still there. Nothing has been touched from the covered arcade south.

Message: I was visiting my brother(Ernie Nixon '63) in Bakersfield this week and we were reminiscing about the good old days at HHS and an incident that has often come up in our conversations is about the time someone tied up Miss Imes, the very tiny Spanish teacher. As we walk down that memory lane, Ernie never can quite recall who the kids were that were involved with that. Does anyone remember that and who it was that was responsible? My brother thought, at one time, that JB was in on it, but says he denies it. Thanks.
Also, just want everyone to know that Ernie's 6 year old granddaughter has to have brain surgery after all - a 7 hour procedure - on Oct. 22, but he'll be at the reunion, then they'll be heading for Stanford.
Lee Ann (Nixon)Roehm

Hi Lee Ann, Nope, I don't know anything about tying up teachers. I had Mr Acosta and Mr Pizarro for Spanish.

"The school was like a mill; it seemed to go on and on forever, and that is why the kids decided to name our annual El Molino." She taught and advised the newspaper and yearbook staffs in Hawthorne's earlier days. Morton Laufer, HHS's first ASB president suggested it and it was also promoted by Ray Garza's Spanish class.
Thank you Debbie, we finally have the answer.

Message: Hello all...I'm looking for a little help. My mother's home, in Holly Glenn, needs some work - electrical/gas, plumbing, fencing and such. We had a terrible experience earlier this year with a painting company and would appreciate any suggestions from those of you living in the area of good, professional and quality workmen. I will be in Hawthorne for most of October and a part of November in order to help her get these projects done...hopefully in a much smoother manner than the paint fiasco. If you know of someone or a company, or better yet, an alumni in the field, please email me with their information at captcoz@centurytel.net.
On another note, I don't suppose there are any gatherings planned during this time. After checking in with Cougartown over the last few years, I sure would like to put faces to some of the names. Thanks for the help!

Message: Just to catch up on a couple of items: I too lost my mother in early August and can sympathize with Enza, Jessie, and others who have recently lost loved ones. It is hard to believe how much we can miss them. However, we can take comfort in knowing that our loved ones are -- as Enza so eloquently put it -- ?Finally home? and with family who have gone on before them.
El Molino: I had friends who worked on the year book and the news paper in the ?50s and I remember asking the same question. ?Hey guys,? I would ask, ?How did the year book get its name?. I got answers similar to Marilyn?s. Basically they would say, ?Because we could see from the beginning that this is going to be a long, hard grind!? True story. I still like Chris? story, and that would also explain why I could smell coffee some mornings between Nyman?s office and senior square. Hmmm...

Thanks Baxter.....
