Message: Hi everybody. I suffered a sports injury today at the gym. I wanted to work off some of that flan I had over the weekend but I pulled a muscle trying to get my sports bra on. I thought about calling the paramedics, 'cause they're so cute, but the management frowned and cancelled my membership. They have absolutely no sense of humor.
Welcome back, Tom Burroughs! I missed you at Cruise Night. Hope you and your beautiful bride will make it to the next one. I second the idea for a gathering at HHS for Homecoming. That party afterwards at Stick and Stein was a blast. I'm afraid I drank one too many that night and ended up kissing the wrong man. That, of course, is the story of my life. I'll help put it together, John, if you just give the okay.
I love you guys!
Dizzy Lizzy
Let me talk to the powers that be at HHS. I know we're ready for another one of these Homecoming things, but I want to make sure there's nothing else going on.

Our major worries back then were about boys, being cool, looking cool and boys. If only we could go back in time. Enza, thanks for the kind words, it was great meeting you too. I smile to myself when I think of all the great people I met at cruise night. Everyone, have a great weekend!

Message: FIRST OF ALL HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO SHEREE KLINGENHAGEN...HOPE THAT YOU HAD A WONDERFUL DAY!
I WAS CHECKING OUT THE HANG OUT SECTION AND NOW I AM A BIT CONFUSED WITH THE LOCATION OF TACO TIO....IT MENTIONS THAT IT IS LOCATED ON HAWTHORNE BLVD AND 126TH ST. I ALWAYS THOUGHT IT WAS ON INGLEWOOD AVENUE AND EL SEGUNDO BLVD....ON THE SE CORNER? I REMEMBER THAT IN THE EARLY 60'S A LOT OF KIDS WOULD GO THERE FOR LUNCH UNTIL IT WAS BANNED....IF IT WASN'T A TACO TIO THERE THEN WHAT WAS IT?
ALSO IN 1976 WHILE IN HAWTHORNE VISITING...THERE WAS A FAST FOOD PLACE RIGHT ACROSS THE STREET FROM HHS ON EL SEGUNDO BLVD....ALMOST DIRECTLY ACROSS FROM THE OFFICES. WHAT WAS THAT?
SOUNDS LIKE A LOT OF PEOPLE HAD A GREAT TIME AT THE CRUISE NIGHT....MAYBE SOME DAY I WILL BE ABLE TO GO...GLAD EVERYONE ENJOYED THAT FLAN!!!! I DID NOT KNOW LIZ ESTRADA IN SCHOOL, BUT I DO REMEMBER SEEING HER. FROM ALL THE STUFF I READ IN HERE SHE SOUNDS LIKE A REALLY GREAT PERSON.
NOTHING GOING ON IN ALBQ, EXCEPT HOT WEATHER....I SAW A BLACK PORSCHE THE OTHER DAY ON COORS BLVD AND THE LICENSE FRAME SAID MANHATTAN BEACH CA...I WONDER IF THAT WAS A POSSIBLE COUGAR SITING?
ONE LAST THING HERE....ROBERTA I WILL BE SENDING YOU A VERY LONG LETTER IN A DAY OR SO....YOU WILL BE SURPRISED AT HOW LONG IT IS! (ROBERTA IS MY SISTER. LOVE YOU ROBERTA!!!) JEANIE WEANIE
Hi Jean, Yes, Taco Tio was right at the Plaza Square. There may have been another later, but that's the one I remember. Yes, Cruise Night was a BLAST!!

Message: Hey Cougs, What a great time my daughter and I had at CN last Saturday! It was absolutely the best I've ever attended. Actually, it was my very first C-Town event. Now I see what I've been missing all these years. Lizzy, I saw the flan making the rounds, but didn't have a chance to try it. I am sure it was delicious. My daughter thought she was going for a free meal off Dad, but thoroughly enjoyed the experience also, especially the cars, they were awesome. It was great connecting with old friends and meeting new ones too. Can't wait to do it again. PROUD TO BE A HHS COUGAR!!!!!!!
Hey Paul, Glad you liked it. We'll see you at the next function.

Nothing has changed, the food was just as I remembered but I couldn't find it in me to order the flan for dessert after what we had at cruise night. Great time, take care all.

Message: Cruise Night was great! Loved seeing all the great cars and good friends. I met Bud Rhodes and it turns out that he and my younger brother, Leo, were good friends. It warmed my heart to connect with him. It was great to see the Jensen Brothers, and the many from the class of 1969 who made it. I saw a lot of new faces this time as well as our regular CT group. Mom B and Sharon, Mr. Harry Plotkin and Our Miss Brooks, "THE Coach", The Rowdy Marsha and Momo, Lori and her blinding wedding rings, Paco, the flan lover, and photo editor, (thank you). All in all it was the best Cruise Night yet. I think we may have time for one more before the demolition crew shows up. I hope more of you quiet readers out there will make the trip. You won't regret it. I'll make enough flan for everybody but you'll have to eat your dinner first!
Again, John, Thank you!

Hi Liz, Glad you had such a fun time and I don't know if you all got a bite, but that stuff was FLAN-TASTIC!!! Thanks for bringing it.

Message: Hello Cougars, glad to hear C/N was a smashing success! There was yet another convergence of Cougars over the weekend of Aug. 1-3; the 11th annual Moose Mountain Jam. Hosted by Mike Taylor (c/o '71) and wife Kim in the foothills of El Dorado County.
In attendance were: Keith Young, Don Watts, Fred Mintun, Danny Melendrez, Betsy Watts Wright, all HHS alums. LHS alum Nick Deitch and AHS alum Doug Johnson were also there, along with many more. MMJ has become a much anticipated annual get-together of friends and families from Hawthorne who shared musical tendencies in our youth, and who now share something much greater: lifelong friendships. The 2nd generation now has taken our places behind the microphones and instruments, leaving us to share stories and memories centered around our families and our HHS days. In all it is a wonderful time, and reminds us that we are blessed with such opportunities to reconnect. Hey, kind of like Cougartown... Hope to see you all at the next C/N!
Hey Bob, Wish we would have known in advance of such a strong HHS presence. Please let me know next time and we'll make sure it's posted somewhere on the website. Glad you had a great time.

I had a ball at Cruise night! It was too cool finally meet everybody. John, you are the best for helping us all get together and having so much fun. It was great talking to Harry Plotkin and his nice family. And talking to Jill McFarlane '77' and meeting everyone from all the different classes and looking at all the cool cars. And, it is like I always thought, the Hawthorne Women are the Most Beautiful Women in the World. Of course I married one so my opinion might be a little biased.
Take Care John You are the BEST !
Thank you Dennis for the nice thoughts, but these events need the HHS Alumni to be successful and this last Cruise Night had lots of them from many different eras. That's what makes it special. Nice to meet you in person too, and hopefully we'll see you at the next one.
