Message: My husband and I were reading through the feedback, and on the previous page someone mentioned the movie "When the Bough Breaks" That movie was filmed in Hawthorne. We lived on 131st at the time the movie was filmed 2 doors down from us. We had Martin Sheen's trailer parked in front of our house for a couple of days. We have great video of him. He was really great to come out and talk to everyone and have his picture taken. They even repainted the water tower that was between 131st and 135. I can't remember the street.
Just to let everyone know Bob Asire class of 1977 is the proud owner of Coaches Bar and Grill on Inglewood ave. It has alot of Hawthorne High sport pictures and is a great local bar plus they have great steaks.

Message: I have a few Elvis things. Did you know who put on a benefit concert at Pearl Harbor Bloch Arena to help raise the money to build the Arizona Memorial...Elvis did. Also, I had an old friend whose dad had moved into Belair West Gate on the golf course. He had a 18,000 sq ft. house built and then bought his daughter (my old friend) the house next door. She invites me over when I was in town. The first time I went I saw this old run down single story ranch style home that had the address she gave me but just didn;t look like the type of house she would have. As I drove down the driveway she comes running out yelling Keith Keith. Anyway long story short, she gives me a tour and I see all these holes in the walls and things missing like cabinet doors and stuff. I asked what the heck happened and she told me that it used to be Elvis's house and before her dad bought it people would come in a steal anything they could take. the one neat thing they didn;t take was this custom couch that was about 10' long and 5' wide. When you sat in it your legs would be out straight and not touch the ground. Also my ex got kissed by him when she was small and he was in Dallas and she fainted. Those are my Elvis stories except I like Viva las vegas.

I'd go in the kitchen, and there she was. The Living room. Same deal. Hallway. Yep. Back yard. There she was again. Family room. She's on the couch. It's like I couldn't get away from her. Bedroom? Ahhhh. Let's not go there.

I can tell you now that there will never be another male singer that will even come close to this man and his fabulous voice. Of course his opening act was why I went, Joey Heatherton remember her? Hey John at least I?m moving into the 70?s and I just might make it into my own age level next year. I hope your still here when I make it. LOL.
I too saw Elvis at the Forum in 1970. I agree, great performer.

We got a call from a guy wanting to connect with the owner of my firm to see if he could bid on a project we're in charge of. When he said his name was Bud Rhodes, I asked him if he went to Hawthorne High. Sure enough! Not only the same school, but we were in the same graduating class! We agreed to look for each other at the upcoming Cruise Night. What a kick!
Now see how that works. Great story Ingrid. See you both on August 2.

Message: I haven't graduated from HHS in Hawthorne. In fact I'm Spanish and live in Spain. I'm actually trying to find an old friend of mine. When we were 15 I spent a month with her and her family in California and two years later she came over to stay for a month. However, after some years we lost touch. My name is Isabel Arregui and her name is Mary Ann Evarone. A few days ago it just ocurred to me to look her up in the WEB, and I just came across a message from her to this address. I was wondering if I could get in touch with her through this site. I know this is not the purpose of this guestbook and I want both to apologize for using it this way and to thank you for your patience and understanding. My e-mail is isabelarcoiris@hotmail.com . If any of you should be kind enough to let her know my address I would be very grateful.
Isabel Arregui
Hi Isabel, On the contrary, this is EXACTLY the purpose of this page. There's a feedback on page 286 from Mary Ann Evarone that says she's teaching at Hawthorne High. The email address on the feedback for Mary Ann was maevarone@delnet.com
Maybe still good. If not, I'll call the school and see if I can't leave your email address for her. Anyway, I'm sure you'll be reconnected in no time.

Message: Hi all, I wore my cougartown shirt all day yesterday, and I went to the Hawthorne Sportmart/Home Depot shopping center, and all over Carson Lomita and Torrance area looking out for another cougartowner. Unfortunately, I didn't see anyone else with a cougartown shirt on. It was fun though, just thinking that somewhere out there, many cougartowners were out and about wearing the same shirt, looking for and hoping to be found by another cougartowner. My questions is, how many people really did wear their cougartown shirt and walked around to look, or to be found? How about a role call? John, I was so hoping to run into you. I know what you look like, but you don't know what I look like. Hmm, that's probably a good thing! Hope to see you guys August 2, what time?
Hi Maria, Yes, but I know what your Tshirt looks like and I didn't see it either.
I'm sure there were lots of close calls. Thanks Cougs for trying and maybe we'll have another Tshirt day before the Tshirt weather ends.
