Thank you Cortney, glad the 60's Slang page could help you out. The Slang page is rapidly becoming the most popular page on this website. Glad you all like it.

Message: My first concert was forced upon me in 1964 at the Shrine auditorium where my mother thought I should see Tony Bennett, Duke Ellington, Count Basie and Ella Fitzgerald. I was so miserable I thought I would die. Wish I had the chance to do that over again. On a side note Bobby Valdez class of '68 got me to help him help his brother at a scout benefit at Harbor J. C. in about 1969. We moved tables and chairs for about 20 minutes for that we were rewarded with some new groups we had not heard before that time. It was to say the least an enjoyable evening. Oh the groups were Earth Wind and Fire and the comedians that opened were Cheech and Chong. There weren't 20 people in the audience and we got to be back stage groupies or roadies as we had to load their stuff after the concert. As for Dennis Gonsalves, class of '75, he was a much better pitcher than hitter (my brother was talking football. Dennis played triple A one step from making the show, when an arm injury took him out of a chance to play. Notwithstanding that, when the strike occurred a few years back Dennis became a scab, took a leave of absence from his job at the age of 36 or so and tried out made the Oakland Athletics. As I recall, he was one of the last guys released after the crybabies came back. He was still throwing in the 90's! You're still my hero Dennis.

The other day I was trying to remember what I actually did in high school, where did I go, etc. I went to the hangouts, 2-6 street, Manhattan Pier, etc. Then I remembered that one of my favorite places to go was a street in Playa Del Rey to watch the planes take off. I use to wonder where the plane was going and what sort of adventures the people on the plane would go on. Now, I have a question for everyone, maybe this has already been asked on previous pages. What was your first concert and where? Dan, my guess for you would be Pink Floyd at the Forum? Mine was Elton John, 1974 at the Forum.

Who would ever have thought that these young girls that we dated back then would turn out to be Super Moms. And now awesome Grandmothers. Now I understand the Bumpersticker, that says SEXY GRANDMOTHER. And if I may I would like too share a memory of my Mom. It was in late 1961. I was going to a dance, I had put on my best suit (only one I had) groomed myself, and was ready to go. I said to my Mom that I'm leaving now. Mom came over my the front door looked me over, and said do you need any money, no I had my own. Mom said you dressed yourself very nice...thank you I said. Do you want the Family car....no my own car will do. Then Mom hugged me.....after a minute or so I told Mom you can let go now. Mom sighed deeply and said "SOON BUT NOT JUST YET". It took me years to understand what she was saying at that time. She's gone now, but not forgotten, Mom I love you.
