Message: Hoping to see some classmates from the 70's attend Cruise night tomorrow. In the meantime, JB, did you know that the Der Weinerschnitzel in Mission Viejo has a hot rod night on Thursdays? Maybe in the future some HHS'ers who live in the Orange Co. area could get together and hang out. Just a thought.
Hi Jill, No, I didn't know about the Hot Rod night in Mission Viejo. Though I'm usually not out there on Thursdays.
To all HHSers: Please don't wait for Cougartown to have a function. Good idea, Jill, if you want to have an HHS get-together in Orange Co, I say go for it. Any excuse to get the Cougs together.

Message: John, I've talked to everyone in this pic and they want the last quarter of that fatefull 59'CIF championship game back. The Coach said lets do it, Ragatz , Reale, Royal and Russ are ready, Hunter is hungry. The Duck is still fast, Big Al still has soft hands, and except for Sloan wanting a different defensive assignment , Belcher, Neimish, Porter, Eakin, Cross, and Wood say lets do it...But when I talked to the L.B.Poly alumni association the rematch doesn't look promising...Of their 22 starters, 8 are doing 20 to life, 6 havent been seen in years (except on John Walsh's show), 3 have passed on of natural causes and the other five say playing football after 65 is a joke...It could have been big....Later Cougs..:o)
Great picture of the early jocks of HHS, taken at Rich Sloan's "HHS class of 60 is turning 60" party. Can anyone pick out the Ol Coach?

Message: Hello to all, I'm getting deluged with email from well meaning folks who are warning me about the WTC SURVIVOR virus. It's always a good idea to check these things out before blindly forwarding such email. To validate if a virus threat is real or a hoax, go to http://www.symantec.com and select Search Virus Encyclopedia, then input the name of the virus you are checking on. You will find out rather quickly if it's a real threat or someone's idea of a joke. WTC SURVIVOR is a Hoax. According to the Symantec site: Type: Hoax
The following email hoax began circulating in October 2001:
I just received a couple of emails regarding a "new" virus with the following message in the body of the email:
Date: Wed, 24 Oct 2001 08:50:15 -0500 Subject: Fwd: FW: Warning- New Virus: "WTC Survivor"
Dear All,
BIGGGG TROUBLE !!!! DO NOT OPEN "WTC Survivor" It is a virus that will erase your whole "C" drive. It will come to you in the form of an E-Mail from a familiar person. I repeat a friend sent it to me, but called and warned me before I opened it. He was not so lucky and now he can't even start his computer! Forward this to everyone in your address book. I would rather receive this 25 times than not at all.
If you receive an email called "WTC Survivor" do not open it. Delete it right away! This virus removes all dynamic link libraries (.dll files) from your computer.

Hope this helps cut down on some of the clutter in your boxes.
Your friendly Cougartown Geek

Growing up on Sundale Ave. across from the High School, the Blackburns, the Arias's, neighbors of the Campbells, Keanes, Haskells, Cusacs, and many, many, more friends I came to know through Eucalyptus, Haw Intermediate, and HHS really shows what America is and what it can be; through Faith, Family, and Friendship.
To all family and friends, my Dad Hal passed away on Tuesday the 3rd of Sept. and will be greatly missed.

Hi Randy, Glad you wrote. Always hard to lose a parent, I know, but you have lots of friends here. Hawthorne was and is a great place for all of us. I know you realize that now, more than ever. Very sorry for your loss.

I talked to him yesterday after he won the Tshirt (he was so excited, BTW) he said he WOULD DEFINITELY SHOW THIS MORNING. I explained to him that we'd waited before and didn't want to wait if he wasn't going to be there. He said to wait for him as he WOULD DEFINITELY BE THERE, we waited for 20 minutes.......he never showed. I can see now why he chose the ol' Barrister game. He fits right in.

The ones that come to mind, are Dr. Kodash (SP) and Dr. Green. I think Kodash was a childs DDS, (but had a terrible bedside manner.) My sister Lena c/o '65 worked for Dr. Green in the late 60's, and then for DR. Johnson (btw, where Wade Greasby's Mom worked.) They were both kind and friendly folks. Haven't had a good DDS like him or Mrs. G. since! Wade, tell your Mom Hi for me, next time you see her, OK?.. And, glad you enjoyed that blast from the past. I belonged to a car club called "CHEVIES INC" does anyone know what happened to them?? Anyway I really enjoy your web site and will be back frequently.
Thanks, keep up the good work.

Hi Hal, I too belonged to CHEVIES INC. I think about 1966. I don't know when they gave it up. If we have Beach Boys pics, they've already been placed on the website. Thanks for the shout and come on back any old time.

Gary and I were the only two seventh graders that could be trusted to officiate. The other guy is Steve Carlough, an eighth grader, who went on to Leuzinger. Enza did you see Barry Bonds dinger last night. A blast off the bat. I work for Pac Bell and have been to Pac Bell Stadium once. It is a beautiful park. I keep lobbying the upper management for tickets to visit the no-cal stadium again, but to no avail. Sloey, I remember a NU / CU game in 1980, in Boulder. Rick Berns was one of the I-Backs along with, can't think of the guy, CU led 21-7 at half. The second half kick-off went to NU and they scored the next 35 points. These two backs both had over 100 yards in the second half. Final score, NU 49 CU 21. Temp was 48 at kick-off, 18 and 2 feet of snow at the final gun. NU never passed the ball in the second half and the holes were John Deere big. By the way how is that new JD bike of yours?

Yes, it was hard looking at all those replay's of poor Ishii getting banged on the head. It's getting to be a little bit more intense now that we are down to the wire. I sure hope the Dodgers stay healthy, and that we make it to the playoffs! Regarding last nights game with the Giants~does anybody else think that the Giants Shinju (sp) looks like a chick? Wade, I planned on going to Dori's restaurant this past August, but our plans fell through. Dori, I promise to come out to your restaurnat "Gaetano's" real soon. I want to dine Alfresco, with a nice glass of Chianti and some great Italian Pasta! Nothing like a warm night under the stars with great wine, great food and someone special to share it with. :-) OK, here comes some Hawthorne memories. Who remembers what stores surrounded the Hawthorne Circle Park? The only thing I remember is Danny's Barber Shop. When we walked home from school, he always had candy for us kids. What else was there?? And, wasn't there a Bakery somewhere by Cedar and 122nd St? I recall walking home from Washington School and getting baked goods. Anybody else remember these places??

It would be nice; the problem is space. We're allowed 300 megs on the server and these full page pictures would take up approximately 1 meg per page. You can see how they would substantially eat into the 300 meg limit. There are other considerations too, like downloading, slow computers, etc.

After seeing his 66 Mustang up close last weekend, well it look good but I'm totally amazed at what he was able to do with a paint roller and a old can of porch paint. Also Don, have you found all the pieces of your Government book yet? What was it you told Mister Repashy? That Sandy (Tully) had borrowed it? Sure she did. Don you fell off the scooter after I told you not to hang on to me, only Geri could do that. Right Geri! More about my best friend later. I will see all of you great cougar's on the 14th. You too Dan...
No, actually I need the room. I put 57 miles on the 51 pickup last year and I really don't use it enough to warrant the insurance, although I do love the truck. I have 2 more cars that will be going too. I'll let the Cougs know FIRST, before I advertise them.
