Message: Memories Of Foster's Freeze: I remember one particular evening when I was about
four years old. My parents drove me from Inglewood, where we were living at the
time, over to Foster's Freeze to pick up burgers and milk shakes to take to the drive-in
movie. I'm still not sure which drive-in it was, but "The Parent Trap" with Haley Mills was playing. I remember being too short to be
able to sit down in the back seat and still see the movie, so I stood and hung my elbows
over the back of the front bench seat in my mom's '56 Chevy wagon. I can remember
that the burger had a lot more flavor than the burgers we made at home (no doubt due
to ten times the fat!) and tasted really strong of hot onion. Being there at the drive-in
with my parents, munching a Foster's burger, watching what would become my favorite
childhood movie, was one of those perfect moments that capture the early '60s for me.
If I could make the 1,000 mile drive, I'd be at Foster's tomorrow night. Have fun for
all of us who'd like to be there with you!
I'll wrap one up and UPS it to you Mike. Sorry you can't make this one but we understand completely.

Message: Hi to John and the band of Cougars;
Sorry I haven't written lately but I haven't had anything special to talk about..Also sorry we didn't make it to "Prom Night" but we were on vacation. Sure enjoy seeing the pictures when they come up. (Shouldn't there be a lot more of them??)
Question: What do Alan Hauge, Jim and Karen Essner, Bob and Karen Fraser, George and Margie Miller, Larry and Cathy Drager, Denny Unfried, Tom Burroughs, Rich Sloan, Dennis Campbell, Royal Lord, Jerry Rigney, etc. etc. have in common??????????????
They all make "Cruise Nights" more special just by showing up and hanging out for a while!! Hope to see you all this Saturday..
M.S.
P.S. Remember, nostalgia ain't what it used to be!!!
Hey Mikey, Prom Night pics are at Jan and Judy's. As soon as they get them to me, I'll put them up for all to see.
See you tomorrow night and I'll call Jim right now.

I've been away a long while now. It seems most of the time I come in here, my computer freezes up. I know it's not this site's fault, my 'puter is just FUBAR, but hey, it was FREE and it still works, albeit poorly, but as I said, what do you want for FREE? Better than using the library's one, that is for SURE!!!!
Nice to see Gina (Black) Peck in here again! I agree with Raymond, where the heck have you been, woman? I haven't heard from you in what my mom used to call a "coon's age!" And Raymond, shame on you! I move closer to you and I don't get ANY more stinking e-mails, let alone any phone calls? For shame!
Anyhow, moved out of Newberg ( finally, don't ask, just glad to be OUT) and am now in Hillsboro, so any of you Cougs out and about in Oregon anytime, e-mail me and find out where I be now and you come on up and see my sometime, alright? I miss you guys, man!

Message: Yahno Janny, some folks have a phobia about writing into this site and some of us probably should have. Several people asked if I knew the answers to the questions, for some weird reason [OK I TELL EVERYONE I OWN COUGARTOWN] they think I have something to do with Cougartown, [I am not now nor have I ever been...] I didn't know the answer, and asked for them. Gee I hope I didn't offend anyone [as you know I didn't attend the prom but my friend Dan Dye did] but everyone said it was wonderful and in no small part due to the efforts of you and Judy. So if the question was offensive I apologize, it was NOT intended to be offensive. I guess in the future I'll just email John but I thought it might be something everyone was wondering about and John could tell everybody at once.
So I guess the only question left standing is, "Where Are The Pictures?"

Message: Karen Considine, from the class of '70, sent me an email yesterday with an interesting solution to an appropriate punishment for Bin Ladin. Instead of executing him, which would just make him a martyr or imprisoning him, which would only inspire his comrades to take hostages for his release, how about getting the SEALS or SAS or some other Special Forces group to take him to an undisclosed hospital and have surgeons perform a complete sex change operation. Then return 'her' to Afghanistan to live as a woman under the Taliban. Interesting idea.
That would be one camel ugly woman. The veil would absolutely be mandatory.

Message: Emails, I get lots and lots of emails. John a couple of my friends who rarely post on feedback, emailed me with a couple of questions regarding the Prom [yeah I know I didn't go but my friend Dan Dye did.] And they want you to know they are not complaining just curious. First, when will the memory books be available, and second, with all the pictures taken from those cameras on the tables why haven't the prom pictures been posted on cougartown? Huh?
Thanks John. See you at O dark 30.
The Memory Book proof was at the printer, but since I've never seen the proof, I had it called back to Jostens for approval. Janny did some candid pages for the memory book, which I'm sure are just fine, but I'd like to take a look at the book in total before paying the piper.
As to the Prom Night pictures getting put up on Cougartown, I'm still waiting for Judy and Janny to hand them over. I heard they were passed around freely at the Committee dinner on the 15th of September and here it is almost 3 weeks later. What's the hold up Judy? Lots of people paid for these pics and would like to see them.

Message: Yes John B. I will be at the Cruise Night, all the way from Colorado as long as United Airlines does not screw around with my flight time again. I have had three time changes in the last 2 weeks. Also need to get into the So Bay from Thousand Oaks from my nephews wedding Sat. afternoon. My Big Brother Steve said it was okay to leave the reception early as long as it was to see Big John B. Haven't had to fight the LA freeways for 13 years, so how is the 405 on Saturday afternoon. Any guess on how long it will take me to get from Ventura Freeway to Foster's. Is there an alternative route I can take to get to the So Bay area. I look forward to seeing you all.
Hi Barbara, You're looking at about 35 minutes from the Ventura Fwy to Hawthorne via the 405. I think it's because LAX is very low on customers right now. Good Luck and we'll see you on Saturday night.

Message: Okay...HELP!!! what is the closest cross street to the 131st Street VFW Hall in Hawthorne? (no, this is not a trivia question, I really need to know.) I can come to cruise night, but my Daddy won't let me have the 65 Mustang...he has let 3 people drive it since he bought it "NEW" in '65. We, as a family, would take Sunday drives through PV. There used to be peanut vendors with brightly colored pinwheels and piping hot, freshly roasted peanuts....we were not allowed to eat in my Dad's car, but he always gave into our begging and bought us three girls peanuts. We ate them to our hearts content and Dad spent the rest of the afternoon cleaning out the Mustang.....while we took naps. Thanks, Dad (and Mom for encouraging him to give into our wishes).
