Not to forget Terry Mazzotta. Was a beautiful day in Coos Bay. Chris was a wonderful host. Food, Drink, and a fantastic backyard. It was nice to see Robin, he filled me in on the Prom. Glad to hear what a smash it was!!!!! I loved the wine and candy stories. Happy Birthday to my friend Gil , his birthday is the same day as my niece Meghan Renee Currie, Happy Daze Meg!!! 19 years old. Go visit her at Good Stuff Manhattan Beach. Peace

I really went through withdrawals!!!!! No one has commented on the PROM video. I think I finally spotted Dan Dye but is Backus anywhere on that thing!? Gotta see what all the falderah was about!! BOY, BJ ... am I ever HURT! Taking the Princess' car to Cruise night without her, huh? Hey Sloey, since you minored in Lit, what was your major? Backus said something about "staying clear till John's yelling stops" ... what did I miss!!? Who are you yelling at now, John!!!? Where IS the HOODMAN??!!! Cal Kappan, does your OLDer brother, Kelly, have a computer? Tell him Doris Donaldson said "hello". And it sure would be nice to go into FEEDBACK and see something from DZLizzy again! And Tilly Noodleman!!! Sharon Moore??? You out there girl? In case I don't get back this week to throw more stuff in the fan, have a great CRUISE NIGHT.

Yes, happy faces are good things. Since you can't detect voice inflections in the written word, it's meant to let you know I'm saying it with a happy heart, although sarcasm is fun..........HEY, that's who I am.

Message: One of my favorite things about "Little Deuce Coupe" is how the first line of the song starts off with "I'm not braggin' Babe, so don't put me down" and then the rest of the song is nothing but bragging about how
"bitchin'" his car is. Pretty funny. More Beachboys car song trivia: In the
song "Shut Down" a fuel injected Stingray is up against a Super Stock
Dodge. In the Beachboys song you get the impression that the Stingray
wins in the end. Fact is, that particular Dodge, although ugly enough to
pass for an oversized Russian car from the '60s, was about a second and
a half faster through the quarter mile than the Vette. I guess "Shut it off,
shut it off, Buddy now you kicked my butt" doesn't have quite the same ring
to it. By the way, the blimp trip was great. Sloey won't come down! Have a
great week, Cougs.

Message: I'm guessing lake pipes could be open exhaust for the dry lakes speed events.
I also thought valve reliefs (as in "ported and relieved")were cuts in the tops of the pistons to allow a larger lift, which seems to make no sense with a flat head.
On another note, in response to Kay's comments, I kinda like the lines from American Pie (the song) "We've done some bad, we've done some good, we've done a whole lot better than they thought we would" (hope I got that right.) Kay, have you ever heard of the fall of man, etc. If you read the whole book, (Job is a good place to start) you'll see that bad things do happen to good people. We just don't know why some things happen, and to start saying a country, or an individual deserved what they got, or will get, is a little out of line.
As far as us being bad guys, I was in Viet Nam, and the people liked us. They weren't afraid of us, and we probably treated them a lot better then their own soldiers did. I do recall that they were a little ticked if you tossed a can of ham and limas when they asked C rations, but otherwise we were on good terms.
Sure is more fun to talk about cars : ) Hope this insanity ends real soon.
Ken, It's obvious that you don't look at the Slang page. Above is a 56 Chevy shown with Lake Pipes.
In a flathead, "relieving" means cuts in the HEAD to get the air-fuel mixture and exhaust gasses heading in the right direction.

A "Deuce Coupe" is always a 1932 Ford two door hardtop. "Deuce"
comes from the 2 in '32. In a deck of cards the 2 is a deuce. Don't
ask me what a flathead mill is. (Okay it's an underhead valve Ford
V8 engine). Who could be mad at John? I just stay clear until the screaming
stops! :-)
The Ford flathead V8 was introduced in the 32 Ford and was last used in the 53 Ford. Les Martin HHS60 tried to blow up a Flathead engine on his front lawn one day. He placed a brick on the throttle pedal and walked away. It never did blow.

Message: About Cruise night. Do I have to have an old car to show off? Or can I go ahead and come in with a newer foriegn car. See, my Woody is in the shop, my GTO is a planter in my front yard.
Now, for some fond South Bay memories:
Does anyone remember drag racing on Pershing Drive? And, who stole the Bob from Bob's Big Boy in Westchester? Does anyone remember that sometimes during halloween that a pumpkin was put over the head of this one statue in Westchester. It was a bank building, with a man and a horse, just off of La Tijera (Going West from the 405).
I also remember that I was going out with this guy, and he had taken me to this hill in Playa Del Rey (under the flight path) I thought we were going there to you know, make out. But, he truly just wanted to watch the airplanes take off, and recited to me what kind of plane, how many horsepower, who made it. I came home with a vast knowledge of aircraft that night, and no hickeys to hide from my parents. Ahhh, youth.
No, actually you have to own a "Little Deuce Coupe" to get into Cruise Night.
