Message: OK, first of all, I LOVE that prom pic here on the feedback page. Those gals are my heroes! They made it possible to have a weekend that keeps going and going....I'm still walking on air! JB's 1 & 2, Judy and Jan, Marsha and Robin, you are too fun and wacky for words! Thank you for believing that a Prom is possible, that Cougars of all eras can come together and find a common bond, that lost friends can become found again. My only regret is that I didn't get the chance to greet and meet each and every one there. I had intended to do just that but the night just flew by, and before we knew it, the sun finally did come up and the party was over. I had the joy of seeing MaryAnn, Mike Backus, my dear V sisters, Konnie, Zoe AND Zak, Steve and Kathy, Ingrid, Colbern, Tony Manos and Mandi, Lori Padelford, Tesa Dallons, Rick DuPape, Dale and Don, Mr. Fetherston, Mr. Allen, (can we call them Bill and Rich?), and the infamous Dizzy Liz. We even brought a Polaroid of George Key to put on the table so he could be symbolically there. YOU people know how to have fun! I gotta start doing this in smaller groups so I can REALLY visit. Every gal there looked beautiful - especially Mom and Sharon. Joyce and Mo have very special places in my heart. And those Cougar men sure do clean up nice - I know Dan Dye was the kissing booth guy but did you girls get a load of Mike Backus?! Dream Date - YES!! If you missed this then you will just have to be jealous. I'll bet you won't do that again. And for those of you who have wondered about old friends and whether it is possible to rekindle that friendship, after 27 years I found we didn't miss a beat when we saw each other again. Don't wait another minute to make that connection. It's been too long as it is. And I think it'll be even better in the second half of life.....HHS forever.

Message: I didn't make it to the prom however I found it very interesting that you got rooms at the hotel and it sounds like you all stayed up all night and didn't need them. It truly sounds like the J's put on a real good time. I just have one question the hotel did they hit you for an energy usage fee? I just made a reservation for the San Diego area for Oct and they are talking about a energy fee per night. Also made a reservation for Chicago Il. and got a $2.00 a night energy fee. I thought that was kind of funny. you pay for a room and then pay to turn the lights on. can't wait to read more prom post god bless all.

Message: The carriage has turned back into a pumpkin, the carriage horses back into
mice, my tux is back to the rental shop, and I'm here at my desk in Eugene,
Oregon ignoring the work that has piled up while I played hooky down
south. My mind and my heart are so full that there is no way that I can be
productive until I write a few words. I will briefly add my thanks to everyone that made this incredible prom possible. You are the heart and soul of Cougartown. ** What I really want to talk about are the incredible Cougar
women that I visited with Saturday night. OH MY GOD! Talk about a
kid in a candy shop! After ten years in Eugene (you know what I'm talking
about, Robin) I was dying for the company of some Cougar women. Brian
Wilson wasn't writing about "California Girls", he was writing about
HAWTHORNE Girls! From the gorgeous, ageless Valencia sisters (thanks
for asking me to dance Patty), to the warm and wonderful Ingrid Larson,
I don't think that I have ever seen so many beautiful women in one place!
Dizzy Liz, when I used to read about your 'Latin Heat' I just said "yeah,
yeah, sure". But let me tell you, having met you, I'm a believer! I just know
that there is an ashcan in your bedroom closet full of the charred remains of would
be suitors! In ten minutes you gave me several looks that singed my eyebrows!
The B Girls. I love you women so much that it's embarrassing to talk about it
publicly. Thanks for adopting me. You are family. ****** John, what you
have done with Cougartown is to resurrect a lost culture, a shattered community, and reunite lifelong friends with each other. The grief that I felt at having lost the Steve Stonebrakers and Susie Biermans of my youth was more than anyone should have to bear. Thanks so much. WE LOVE YOU MAAAAAAN!!!!!
Well darn......that's pretty much how I feel. Thanks Mike for being there, not only for you, but for your friends as they enjoyed you too. I knew you'd get ALL of the "Take Me Back" part of Prom Night and I do know the "I Can't Stop Thinking About It" feeling too. You'll be OK in about 3 days, but until then, just float.......

Message: Hi Everyone,
Just wanted to say thanks to the committee that worked so hard on the Prom. I really had a great time seeing old friends. Sandie Tully, who lives here in Vegas is my friend and hair dresser, and does an awesome job at both. My e-mail buddies Tonya Hobson, Cheryl Christensen, and Loretta Morelli. Linda Mc Dowell, Joyce Savisky, Sherry Farlow, who I had not seen, since the 30 year reunion. Sorry to have missed that dance with Dan Dye, he probably would not have known who I was anyway, but I hate to miss out on anything, it sounds like he was the bell of the ball. Tonya was excited about being Queen of the Prom and she deserved the title, she hasn't changed, wonderful person. I talked my friend Jane Brown and brother Larry Snyder (both 1966) into coming down from Northern California, they had a great time. I hope that we can all stay in contact, John has done such a wonderful job keeping the site current and providing contact information, we should all take advantage of his hard work. Thanks John, My best to everyone...
Sandy (Snyder) Wheeler, Las Vegas, NV (1966)
Thanks for coming Sandy, and glad Larry and Jane showed too. Hopefully we'll see you at the next function and yes Cougs, please stay in touch with your classmates.

Okay, when and where was the breakfast? Aunt Nora had Micki and me up at 7AM to have Cougar breakfast and we didn't find anyone! (the lengths I will go to please that woman, just cause I love her so much!) I made it through the meal without falling face first into my eggs, though. A special thanks to "that man at our table" for the fine prayer of thanks for our dinner...How come every OTHER table had TWO balloons? Yes, yes, it wasn't sacreligous....just the voice was different....
Patty, honey, I'm really sorry, I was BORN this age! I'll try to age a little for you for the next event...I'll try, honnest!! Margie, you little darling, will you dance with us forever and always?? Bring your brother along...it was fun wearing him out! And, I know I had a lot to drink....but didn't we first meet you in the ladies room...something to do with pantyhose and girdles...and what happend to Duke? I had to envoke the "Neighborhood kid rule" and demanded a dance with David Montoya, thanks Dave, and thanks to the Coug guy who took me by the hand and helped me find him. Mike Bacus....did you know you look just like the prom guy in the Mystery Date game? Wow, I did a double and triple take, and then I had to point you out to Micki! Dude, you could be a movie star!!
How about Gina's ankle tattoo??

Dancin with the "girls" again .... too much fun. Thanks to Dan Dye for making me feel 13 again.(sorry ladies, but "I" was first to kiss him) I ditto Dan's complaint, not enough time to talk to everyone. (7 hrs?) Yes the feet hurt, but the shoes were soooo cute. I did find a dress at the last minute (friday) and it didn't shame John's $$uit from $$icily, huh? Message: "Great Job" to everyone who was involved in organizing the "Prom". Every detail was planned and thought out. The music was just right, sooooo many memories came rushing back with each old song. "Thanks" to "all the boys at HHS" for the song dedication. The food was great and the hotel was beautiful. The tables were arranged so that we were sitting with or close to the friends we attended school with. Some wonderful prizes were given out (lucky Dan Dye). We felt so surrounded by "friends". My husband and I commented the next day after breakfast, what a really nice bunch of people. I had forgotten how friendly and wonderful, as a whole, the grads of HHS were. Something about that school, those times, that window of time that created really special friendships and people of a caliber that is difficult to duplicate. I enjoyed every minute of the whole week-end. So many people attended and seemed happy to be there. What fun we had with the "drinking thing" out by the fountain. I'm sure glad they didn't get a picture of me, feet up, going into the pond. tee hee. I too got to dance with Dan Dye. Also, we had a chance for a long talk. Lots of memories there. What a nice guy......see what I mean. Judy, I'm sure life around you is never boring. What a great sense of humor you have. It's that kind of thing that made this so fun. John, you've invested a lot of time and effort into getting us all back to "HHS", I hope you're having as much fun as the rest of us. To everyone who didn't attend.....you missed it and those kinds of magic nights are hard to re-create.
I'm sure glad that I was there....I had "fun, fun, fun,........"
Ahh yes, those nights are very hard to duplicate. Glad you had a wonderful nostalgic journey back to your Hawthorne roots, Betty. I know there were lots of early 60's HHS boys there that would say you're still as beautiful as the day you graduated. Thank you so much for being a part of Prom Night.

Thanks to John for the web site, I know we are admired by other high schools!
I just received a call from a former Cougar David Dane, sp? he is living on the islands too. He's just found this site and got a lot of information and blast from the past...John, Keep up the good work!!

Oh and by the way for all of the people out there from the late 70's and early 80's You really don't know what you're missing. Message: I have two complaints about the prom, one, it was too short, two, I didn't have enough time to spend with all my good friends. The prom went by so fast. Did I tell you I got to hug and kiss Judy Wudy? However it took five requests and five hours before she would dance with me. Judy, I hope you and Jan can take some time off to recover. THANK YOU ALL who worked so hard on the prom. I don't think it could have been better. I even got to dance with my first girlfriend from the 8th grade, Cheryl Christensen Nicocia, even though she dumped me 41 years ago. It was great to see Rick Cooper and his wife Betty. I have known Rick for 45 years, he may be big, but his heart is even bigger. Thanks again John B for CT. I wouldn't have reconnected with Rick had it not been for CT. Connie Brower Zellmer, sorry we didn't have more time to talk. Ruth Kara Watson, what can I say,you are the greatest. I have known Ruth for about 54 of my 57 years on earth, (Can anyone beat that? Besides her sister Theresa) My wife Ann said I can't name off all my special friends. So I will close with, Thank you everyone for a great prom. And remember, everyone that attended, you made the prom special for someone. Dan Dye, Class of 62
Thanks Dan, Great seeing you over the weekend. Don't worry too much about Cheryl dumping you in the 8th grade. As I recall she dumped about 80% percent of the Intermediate boys that year. It's still a record. I think she even asked me to go steady with her, but by them the body count was so high, even I said NO.
Thanks Lucky Dan, the Prom's Grand Prize winner of a new Dell Computer.

Vickie Willett, Mike Backus, Ingrid Larson - These are people I'm so pleased to be in contact with again - THANK YOU JOHN BAKER. Norma and Lee - You people are so wonderful, I'm pleased to know you! Bill Fetherston - Thanks for the Memory! Don, I think I would like to be on the final interview panel for the starlets who will play me. Thank God Bette Davis is no longer available. Liz - you are cool - you actually took a breather? Thank you Prom Committee for the opportunity to spend one great Summer Night. I guess I'll leave it at that for now.
