Perfect! I actually like the new Vettes. I'd take one if I could pick it up in a grudge match.

Message: Dana Middle School graduates - HHS Classes of 1999 and 2000
When you left 8th grade at Dana, you wrote letters to yourselves, which I mailed in June of your senior year. However, several came back. I'm searching for the following students (email or mailing addresses) in order to re-mail their letters:
Class of 1999 - Michael Benavente, Alberto Concepcion, Mike West. Class of 2000 - Jennifer Bell, Jackie Cisneros, Pat Hamala, Juan Merlos, John Robles, Jason Thomas, Maria Vasquez.
I'd appreciate any assistance in locating these former students. Thanks!

Message: This one's for GARY NELSON.. So, you think you can beat DICKIE DIXON in a little "drag race." Well, I happen to know that Dickie and Judy will be at Prom Night.. Perhaps we'll set up a little wager while we're all there.. (you do have your ticket, don't ya?) I can see it now, all the kids driving down to an empty street (ya, like there is one) and watching these two fellas relive their youth racing their cars.. (like a scene from Splendor in the grass-I think they called it a chickie run) & then the cops come..and haul us all into jail..and we have to call our folks to post bail..Pop's fuming and mom's crying..The story makes the headlines of the Daily Breeze..and then we're grounded..and have to miss the next 3 months of events.......or maybe NOT!! Never mind Gary, Marsha and Robin Hood have already been through this 40 years ago, and I don't think Banny Russell can take it again.. Just bring your Honda and be done with it.

Message: Okay all you 80's people out there you're going to have to pick up a pen, go to your checkbook, write a check to Scott Maples for the class of 81 reunion, put it in the envelope, lick the envelope and leave your big ole tongue out long enough to lick that stamp too (oops! licking stamps is so 80's)anyway what I am getting at is it really doesn't take that long to RSVP for your 20 year reunion. I know some of you are procrastinating until next week or the next whatever but you are running out of time. We really need a headcount on who is attending. Also we are still looking for classmates that we cant find. We will be updating the missing lists in Ctown and also will post a list of all who have RSVP'd in that other wanna be like Ctown website called classmates. Also as I have said before please feel free to contact me, Michele Libertini, Marlene Olsen, Scott Maples or Jeff McElhaney with any questions or comments. Thanks John for all you do for all of us Cougars.
She's right 81ers. Someone has gone WAY out on a limb so you all can be together for a few hours after 20 years. It takes lots of time and money UP FRONT for these get togethers. Please get your money in as early as you can, as it not only lets your reunion committee know you're serious, it also pays for the reunion.

Message: Sometime in '61 we moved from 118th st. close to Felton, to Century Blvd. About a block east of Hawthorne Blvd. South side. It's where a landro-mat is now. Across the street and a little east was D&H Hydro. Can anyone remember their big blown olds, black, early sedan? While there I had an English Ford that was painted a rich yellow with a pearl white racing stripe that Alan Hauge did. It was a beautiful paint job. The little Ford was set up to take a buick block with all buick running gear, slicks on the back. It was setting on my front lawn near the street for a long time. Finally I sold all my cars and joined the Navy in '63. After a couple of years I came back to Hawthorne and was driving down in front of Boys' Market ('65) and saw a small group of girls by the front doors. I've been away for awhile and couldn't believe how ugly these girls were! It wasn't until later I discovered that they weren't girls at all! They were boys! Things had really changed in a short time. I also noticed that the mood had changed considerably. Gone were those days of peace we had. A week later I was driving North from San Diego to see a most distressing site. The whole city was on fire, or so it appeared from my view. Hawthorne Blvd. was totally without cars, a very ominous feeling over everything. I know a retired LAPD that was in the middle of the riots as a rookie and explained how certain outside revolutionaries were running the "show". Glad those days are over.

Message: Hey BBBIIIGGG John, not akin to the man in the song. I take that remark about the "caroms" serially. You just don't know that you are speaking to the "carom" champion of the 5th grade intramural's at JUAN DE ANZA grade school!!! I'm known as the inventor of the first "carom masse'" shot in history. Please don't ask me how. It's hard to tell one with lesser skills the fundementals. It's patented. Lymon Moss. Good to hear from you, as I still love those DAWGS, as opposed to "the sc DOGS". Good at poooo? Maybe. But better than that Kingy guy that has the Pole Vaulting Trophy's. I flew down to So Cal and went to his hangouts ( 5th and main). The guys were the same now as they were then. But, I could have sworn that I might have seen Sloey at a hotdog stand down there. Jerry Schole's , I played against Jerry and taught Jerry when I was down there in 1964. He learned well. A little raggety, but he had been playing this long hair named John, you know, the hippy dippy doo type. With the big car with the "motor" etc. He smoothed out. Hey COUGS, have a good week. Judi and I, speaking of longevity, celebrated our BIG FOUR OH, this last weekend. And they said it will never last. MAY THE COUGAR BE WITH YOU! JAKE N JUDE!
Happy Anniversary Judi

Message: Hey, what a great site. I love Foster Freeze and hope it stays around as long as I'm around. I used to go to the one in Old Torrance, near where the Pussycat theatre was. My dad told me not to look that way (towards the theatre) when I was young. I took my boys to that same one last night, but when I lived in Hawthorne, 1982-1985, after a good Chinese meal at the Golden Phoenix, we'd walk across the street (120th) and have a Foster Freeze - shame they don't make the slushes anymore, unless that one still does...Great page, keep up the good work!
Hey Kevin, Yep, the one in old Torrance still thrives, although the Pussycat theatre has been closed for many years. They filmed some movie and reworked the old Pussycat to resemble small town America with a malt shop next to it. It still looks that way today.
