Was just reviewing the pages of chatter around the time of the first cruise night and reminiscing...actually I was trying to scope out how many pages it took when they printed out the first 100 and presented them to John. Found no reference to the actual number of pages - rats. I'm stuck then with just a wild guess. I will, however, be there at Cruise Nite 3 to visit with the gang. Am picking Mom B up and joining with the other B so we can have the B girls there. Am looking forward to seeing any and all of you! Any other 74'ers going?? Save Mom and me a place in front with the Stonebrakers sis!!

Message: Tomorrow night at this time we'll be leaving Fosters..for pie and coffee.. something to top off that cheese burger and shake.. (Sat & Sun will be salad days again).. but before John Boy shuts down the site for the weekend, let me thank PAUL BRICKEY '54 - & LORRIE HERSEY STODDARD '70 - for purchasing their tickets today. As mentioned, I'll be bringing some PROM NIGHT flyers to Fosters and a list of names of the ticket buyers for all of you that can't seem to find that list on CT. Oh ya-one last note for the person who's panties are in a wad about "dates".. an alumni can also bring their "one night stands" if they wish.. I'll keep reporting the list as they come to me.. I have to be very politically correct these days--but you can't bring a "cigar".. no matter what. That's not considered a "date."

But does anyone know why Hawthorne had one, Manhattan Beach, Long Beach had them, but not Inglewood, Hollywood, Westchester..the Valley? There must be a reason worth hearing about. And think of the logistics of them. See you tomorrow..j
Here's part of a picture of Hawthorne Highs first football team, and in the background is the water tower we 50's and early 60's people remember as kids. Hawthornes first water tower was about on the corner of Hawthorne Bl and Ballona Av (El Segundo Bl). I would say that Hawthorne had a water tower because it was an agricultural city, had water, and didn't want to buy it from someone else. Actually Hawthorne has, or had, about 3 water towers.

John heres a pic of an old Chevys Inc. 58 panel truck that was quick. Was originally Dewey Webbers, Mike Weathers, Major Mufflers(as shown driven by Jerry Hale), and then HHS c/o 67' Lee Leonards...One big and nasty rat motor...Later Cougs..
Thanks Robin, I do remember that car. That thing had a couple of different motors in it as I recall.
The OTHER 58 Chevy was mine, and is about in the same place as the panel. It ran G/stock (348 with a 4 bbl) and was a class winner for a lot of weeks. The picture was taken in a bracket race. It looks like that Falcon won this round...... but not so.
Hope to see at least one of the owners of the 58 panel at Cruise Night tomorrow. I know I'll be there.
Thanks Robin.....

Message: Now let's see John, referring to "stillnotwelcome" (whoeverthatis- why don't people just say who they are...or ask a simple question?).
Anyway, in Clinton-eze, referring to "all who attended HHS", It depends on what the definition of "attended" is? Does attended mean its OK if I went to a football game or a car show at HHS, or perhaps I went to a few classes but did not graduate, or I went to a few classes and did graduate? I don't know John.
And I'm not sure about "who" either, shouldn't that be "whom", implying to "person or persons", if husbands, wifes, etc., are ALL invited? And what about ex-husbands and ex-wifes, you didn't mention those?
John, I don't know, you better be more specific....this is really getting confusing.
Gary, Yes it is quite confusing isn't it. I think I can blame this whole thing on Judy, as she wrote it. I'll have Jim Sloey write it out in lawyer-EZE for you next time. That should clear it right up. Hope you're going to be here for Cruise Night and the reunion this weekend. See you then....

Message: Re: AUG 18TH - PROM NIGHT MASS EMAIL.
I'm getting a lot of responses from the mass email sent out last weekend.. mostly about what the dress is for our PROM... and is PROM NIGHT part of the reunions.. here goes.
The dress is: dressy but comfortable..
Gals: something you'd wear to a class reunion is fine.. or even a semi formal if you wish.. pants suits are great..if that's what you like.
Fellas: A suit, sport coat or even a nice shirt and pants is fine.. above all be comfortable.. you have to dance the night away. No shorts..no T-shirts. This is a dance.
Next question answered is.. No, the PROM is not part of the reunions.. however, there are a couple of them within a week of PROM NIGHT..
Aug 11th~'70-'73 reunion.
Aug 17th~'66 reunion.
The Grande Finale' is Aug 18th~PROM NIGHT.. open to all of HHS alumni and their date/spouse/significant other/pick up/alter ego/shack job/sugar baby/sugar daddy/sugar mama/siblings/parents/or just come solo.. (whew, told you this isn't easy..ya have to make everyone happy)
Judy ... On a quest
Thanks Judy. You're doing a bang up job on Prom Night. Just keep doing what you're doing.

There will be Cougartown T shirts on sale at Fosters for 19.00 each (save the 4 dollars shipping). Also if you know someone that doesn't have the Internet, but wants to go to the Prom, there'll be mail-in forms at Cruise Night and the 59-60-61 reunion. Just fill it out and mail it in.
Next is for all that are attending the 59-60-61 Reunion at the Cerritos Sheraton. Rich Sloan has planned an ice breaker get together over there from 8 to 11:30pm. You 59-60-61ers please plan on attending that function too.
This is going to be a full weekend for lots of early Cougs. Everyone have a great time and I'm sure we'll have lots to talk about next week. Thanks Cougs.....

Just add number of pages (300), plus the number of times car are mentioned in feedback (400), plus the number of times Judy has plugged the prom which is August 18 (200), plus the number of CT accordion players (56).
