Mikey and I are going to make this Friday a Field Trip day, planning to visit the Hawthorne Airport museum. I had no idea there was a museum there, until it was featured on Cougartown! The museum closes at 3 pm so I guess we'll be at Fosters at 3:15, just to be sure that we get good seats - that would be the sink in the bathroom, right, Judy? MISTER Branigan is going to meet us there for dinner - I hope Patty is going to bring Peter and Allie. See y'all Friday.

Message: I remember when I decided to make my move as a "brain". After a mediocre freshman year, I received 6 A's the first six periods the first semester of my sophomore year. Coach Chauncey was to give me my last grade of the semester for P.E. the seventh period.
He penciled in a B+, then did a sort of double-take, said something like "You got all a A's, my God!" He promptly took the report card back, erased the B+ and wrote in A-. Then he gave me that brief gruff, knowing smile of his.
I ended up graduating 15 out of about 450: THANKS AGAIN TO THE OLE COACH!!
Hey George, thanks for the story and welcome....

I can't believe that only a "mass email" could get some of you to log on again.. there's so much going on right now "Cruise Night this Friday & Rich Sloan has his 59-61 reunion this Saturday night.. then this August there's the early 70's reunion.. then the '66 reunion a week later and the Grand Finale' "PROM NIGHT." (another subliminal message) John Boy, give us another great song to click on to get us in the mood. (how about "That Ol' time Rock & Roll or Can't help myself by the 4 Tops) And now thanks to Prom Night newcomers, Jean Wright Waring ' 66 -- and Cheryl Bottolfson Keohen '66, both coming from right here in Calif. (I'm starting to sound like a DJ now) We'll be shooting out a couple more email reminders now and again, but don't wait til the last minute..when the tickets are gone I wouldn't be able to get my own brothers in under the wire..sorry Andrew and Tom, Mom liked you best, but Biz is Biz.

Message: Gary Catallo, now that's a blast from the past. The Catallo boy's (Gary and Dennis) lived on Grevillea and my brother and I lived on Manor Dr. We played together for years. I can remember one time when all of us were playing football in the street and Dennis went out for a long pass but didn't see the car in his path. He caught the pass turned and side swiped that car. Dis-locating his finger. That was the end of street football for a while. Of course the Catallo family could have had a football team themselves. A Good Italian Family. How many Catallo children attended Hawthorne High anyway? Good to hear from you Gary. Come to Fosters on Friday and bring Dennis.

Judy, I've been hearing from Christine Baird that you've been bugging her to check in so I thought I'd check in too. And much to my surprise, I find out there is a "Cruise In" this Friday. I do remember the first "Cruise In" and how King John made us wait till we hit 100 pages. Remember Chris Prewitt making copies off all 100 pages and bringing it for everyone to see. Does anyone still have that? John, I know the throne was taken back, but do you still have your crown :-) I hope Steve and I can make it Friday. Is anyone else from the mid '70's coming?? Please write in and let us know.
Chris Prewitt...If your coming let me know. I have that cast pin for you.
Looking forward to Friday.
Kathy
Well well well.....It's just about time young lady. You forgot to mention that You, Steve, and Killer handled ALL the music, 50-50, and the rest that night. Please show up Kathy, as I promise I won't put you to work this time. ...Well maybe you could bring a Boom Box.....See you there on Friday night.

Message: The Boy With The Green Hair is one of my favorite movies. I never saw it at the theater, but have seen it on the tube. The Loyola was a beautiful place. Like an old opera house. It has been torn down hasn't it. I know it's not open anymore. I really don't remember the first movie I saw, but Gone with the Wind left a big impression on me. Our folks took us to see it either at the Fox or Loyola. Wow all the cougars from the late 50's early 60's very cool indeed.
Kelley, The Loyola theatre is still there, not as a theatre (I think it's a professional building now), but they kept the architecture right down to the ticket booth. It's all restored and looks beautiful. The Fox theatre in Inglewood is another story. Market street is blocked off; lots of the businesses are closed, and it looks like Inglewood is getting ready to bulldoze the whole street. Very sad.

Message: I got a thing to say about cars but it's involved in a smaller form. I collect Johnny Lightning(they are much better than Hot Wheel)and the time period of the 50's to 70's is what I look out for. But Johnny Lightning has come out with a series called "Surf Rods" with photos of 1960-69. LeRoy Grannis is the photographer of these cars. Has anyone heard of him? The names of these cars are Banzai Babes, Banzai Boys, Bahama Mamas, Coast Busters, Big Kahuna, Palos Verde Vixens, Torrance Terrors, Malibu Babes, Santa Monica Maniacs, Cowabunga Boys, Waimea Mamas, Hermosa Beach Bums, Surf Daddies, Huntington Honey's, Laguna Longboards, The Hang Ten Men, and Redondo Gonzos. My question is: Are these for real or just a commercial gimmick? Some cars are very convincing from such as a 1940 Ford pickup to 1954 Chevy Panel and many more. Anyone can recall seeing these cars or let alone Clubs?
Don't know.
