Anyone remember the parties when he sang La Bamba? Haven't heard anything of him since his last hit "Call Me"...Looking forward to seeing everyone at the reunion, the nice thing about having it in Vegas, is I don't have to travel far, since I am only about 10 miles from the Strip..

Message: I just saw the "What's New" page and found the picture of Gloria and Linda Keene advertising the Fencing Team - that brings up my memory of Clayton Williams and his photography sessions! He and Terri (his wife) would have us model for hours to get just the right shots for the El Molino. When we wised up to the fact that this was real work, we wouldn't do it unless they made a party out of it with great food! One Christmas I had those reflective glass tree ornaments surrounding my head for close ups. That took hours and never even made the yearbook. But, if you look at the Fencing Team photos, they were almost always superimposed upon grand backgrounds. Fortunately Mr. Williams was tactful enough to wait until I graduated before he showcased my glamorous younger sister and Linda :)

Well, the Las Vegas trip is scheduled for April 17th. I'll be sending out an email to those of you who have confirmed your attendance to discuss accomodations, checks for the dinner/dance we've planned, etc. Thank you for your replies. I'm still getting R.S.V.P.'s - which is great. Replies so far represent the 50's, 60's and 70's. It should be fun and great to put faces with the names in Feedback. And you, and you know who you are, have I convinced you yet?

Message: Ricki, I, too, had a Golden named Samantha. She was the best dog I've ever had. She was so sweet and loving and yes she did puppy bite for a while but don't worry you'll build up scar tissue. Be sure to give her lots of love and take her to places that she can run off leash (once you've got her trained not to run away.) Goldens are a special breed and you have made a wise choice for love and loyalty. Don't look to her for protection though...my Sam would let any stranger in the door (and did, too!) Now I have an insane little beast named Indiana Jones (WHO named that dog?) He is an American Eskimo, and he loves me to death but barks at EVERYTHING! BUT- he is an EXCELLENT watchdog! We also have two bearded dragons (lizards) and newest arrival an orange albino corn snake. Not much in the way of watchdogging but fascinating to watch. Congrats on your new baby! Kisses from
Auntie Shar!

Message: Hi everybody! I haven't been on Cougartown for a long time, but I do read it almost daily. First we got a new puppy, golden retriever named Samantha (Sammy). Well, she's now 11 weeks old and has taken over the entire downstairs. We've also picked up an entire community of new friends. I cannot believe how many people are attracted to goldens. Sammy is gorgeous and friendly and that probably has a lot to do with it. Of course they don't get to take care of her. Whew, feels like we just adopted ten 13 year olds. I missed four days of school. I hardly ever miss. I still have the bug but I can sit and stand, so I'm taking this breather to write.
I've really enjoyed reading all of the memories as usual. I remember Walden's. In fact, I used to eat there sometimes. My family also attended St. Josephs. We didn't go to Catholic school, but we all knew the Great Monsignor. My cousin and I would send our younger siblings in to confession first and have them cough if it was Father R. or another tough priest. He was a tough old bird. Does anyone know when he passed on? I thought he was there when my dad passed away in 1986. I was a tad out of it though.
John, how long do goldens bite their owners?
Note: Ricki, Those aren't bites, they're "Puppy Love Nibbles". I think the good Monsignor moved on last year. It's good to hear from a V-girl Ricki. Don't stay gone so long.

Message: Hi Sue Rea Hagen, as soon as I read your note and
saw you mention your Italian Momma, I knew that was little Susan, Gosh I think the last time I saw you, you were around 12. Seen your mom thru the years, but not of lately. Tell your Mom and Sister that I said Hello and get in touch with me or thru Momma. Same Pho. Number. John this was such a good idea to have this website. I see so many names from the past and it's good to see some of these young Cougars 80's, 90's joining the cougartown site too.
Another memory from the far far past has come up, it's regarding Robin Hood. I don't know if you remember me, but we lived on the same street 133rd til I was 10/11, but it was my 7th or 8th birthday, we were having a party and we did'nt really know you, but I saw you playing outside by yourself and I told Mom. She went over to your Moms and asked if you would like to join us.That was so long ago, but seeing your name brought back that memory.
Note: Loretta, Thank you. I thought it was a good idea, but never thought it would turn into such a great gathering place for ALL Cougs. I Love It!!!

Message: Bob's right, HHS alumni are everywhere.
My 9 year-old son Victor is playing soccer with Mike Thomason (79) and Asela Fernandez-Thomason's (79) 9 year-old son Andrew. We are having a great time cheering for them.
Last year Kim August-Ceasar's (79) son Jonathan played in the LBYSO Mayor's Cup with our team. She looks great and has a wonderful son.
I spoke with Dieter Buehler (79) at a soccer meeting. He said his wife Diane Jachtschitz-Buehler is doing well. Deiter is coaching a girls team and running an automotive business in Hawthorne.
I recently saw Chris "Kit" Percey (80) and John Spinnella (82). Kit is married, doing well and recently purchased a home in North Carolina. John just sold his home in Holly Glen and moved his family to Connecticut (where his wife is from). He has a handsome 2 year-old son.
I received a call from Craig Fernandez (80). He is coaching a soccer team in Lancaster. I hope to see him at our Long Beach Soccer Tournament this August.
Mike Mc Cann is living in Moreno Valley. I saw him in Feb. '98.
Bob, it has been my pleasure working with you over the years. Thanks for the compliments.
Mr. Key: I did not know you managed to work at each of the 4 CVUHSD Schools! My sister Cyndi graduated from Lennox HS in '72. I'm sure she has fond memories of you and her days at LHS. I look foward to seeing you at an upcoming reunion, perhaps our Class of '80.
We had a great time at our 10 year reunion. It was a great party. Mr Stan Boyde Bosler, Mr. Don Hoy and Mrs. Cindy Crum-Hoy were there representing the faculty. I look forward to the summer of 2000 for our 20 year. Hope to see you all there!
Attention class of 1980 Alumni: Derek is working on your Year 2000 reunion. There's a notice posted on the Reunions Page, and will be updated as plans are made. If you'd like to be a part of the reunion committee, please contact Derek.
