Message: Lymon Moss, it's that time of the year. DAWG'S VS DA BRUINS. I don't have much hope for the bear cubs this week. If they do win I'll actually be sad. As I would wish the DAWG'S into the Rosebowl over those godawful Duck uni's. When GOD thought of b-ugly, why did it have to be a PAC TEN team that he wished it on? Jeez, I could even root for the Duck's if I didn't have to look at that thing (that looks like bird...t colors). Although, I'm still a PAC TEN dude. We will get the other dude's buns in the GRANDDADDY of all the bowls. But Lymon, I'm still rootin for DA BRUINS! HHOOWWAARRDD (PPAACCOO) DDUURRAANN, HOW THE HELL IS sc DOING THIS YEAR?. P.S., JAN B., thanks for the e-mail on HANOI JANE! I'd heard and read the storys and knew much of it to be true. But didn't realize the full consequences to our troops until today. At the time, I read about the bitch, with a picture of her sitting in that armored nva vehicle, I refuse to watch anything that her life touch'es, including the World Series when the Bums of Atlanta make it that far. There is nothing that bitch could ever say or do to take those memories away from me. Excuse my language COUGS but it's a subject that really pisses me off. To the rest of you, I have vented. Have a nice weekend. MAY THE COUGAR BE WITH ALL OF YOU! JAKENJUDE!
Russ, Here's something that'll make your Veterans Day. The urinals in the VFW in Hawthorne come equipped with Hanoi Jane Urinal Targets. It makes my day every time I go there. Be a Coug boy.......

Message: I remember a few of us going into a bars on Inglewood Ave. and not getting caught for being underage. There's the Fawn Club, Swinging Door and the Gang Plank to name a few. I also (barely) remember a place by El Camino college called the Zany Zoo and my Uncle Jack was the bartender. It was a zoo that night. My favorite was going to Tommy's for a burger after.
Peace, love, me

The Chief, Bitsy's Lounge, Irish Den, Greatest, and the Joker were a few more Inglewood Av. bars. I also remember the Zany Zoo and Del's Camino Room on Crenshaw.

Message: I've received several responses regarding replacing lost class rings and El Molinos. I've got Herff-Jones checking on the rings and should find out next week if they have the HHS dies. If not, then I'll contact Jostens. If anyone else is interested in replacing your class ring or El Molino please email me at Srbranigan@aol.com with your name, grad class and phone number. If you are planning to attend the Prom in Aug 2001, you really should be fully accessorized with your class ring and your Senior year El Molino. Please be assured that I am doing this out of the kindness of my Cougar heart and am not making any commission. (Plus, I lost my ring in my senior year!)
And a great job you're doing too Sharon. Sharon is also "Shipper Sharon", our Cougartown Tshirt shipper. She goes above and beyond for Ctown and I want to say right now that I DO appreciate all you do. Thanks Sharon for being out there. I want to replace my 61 El Molino too.

Message: Hey Anita, we've known the Olsons for years & years, although we haven't heard from them for a couple...Last I heard was Jimmy is still around So Bay, Steve is living in Berkeley, and Mom Gloria was still in the same house in Hawthorne...of course all that may have changed. Steve had a van all equipped for him to drive and he was quite independent. Jimmy and Grappa John used to work out at Vic Tannys together some years back. I saw Jim about 5 years ago, and he is still great looking, as I'm sure Steve is too. Both guys were good friends of John's brother Nick(74), and sisters Annie(74) and Enza(72). I'll see what kind of update I can get for you, OK? JB, Great pictures of "Bubba"......does that mean your scanner is fixed?????
Nope.....I can't find anyone that can fix this thing.
I didn't know John had a brother.

Their mom was mine and my brother's landlord in Hawthorne before we moved to El Segundo. Anyone in here know where the Olsen's, mainly Steve is at, or if he is even still alive? That terrible diving accident he had in his early 20's left him parapalegic and I wonder if he's alright. I know he was having some problems there right before we moved. Kind of lost contact with them after that. Please e-mail me at: amyinor@webtv.net or youngun39@yahoo.com if any of you know anything. I'd really appreciate it. Message: One of the things I remember about Mr. Dana is the time when I was in 8th grade and my stepdad took me to get my haircut at Satyr's Den on Hawthorne Blvd on the west side of the street away from Hawthorne Intermediate. We went in and sat down and I first noticed that there were some Playboys on the tables in the waiting area. I was dying to grab a copy but was deterred by the presence of my stepdad. Well, after about a minute I looked over at a gentleman who was sitting across the way reading a Playboy that was placed between me and his face! Next thing I know, the barber is calling for "Bill" as the next customer and it was Mr. Dana. After that, he was my hero -- a teacher who had the humanity to read a "porno" mag.

Message: Ken, what do you mean by the big FIVE-O? If you are talking about age, the only age one can know is NOW! Five-O (50) is just a number like any other number, 30,40,60 or in my mother?s case 80. Numbers are useful for such things as keeping score. However, I would rather play the game and have some fun than just keep score. Like Wayne, I too lost my wife. I was in my late thirties and was left with two pre-teen daughters. Hello! Wake up call. Sure things changed. I quit flying and became Mother and Father to my children. I am just now getting on with my life. I am starting to date again (dating sure has changed). I have gotten back into flying after several years? absence and now enjoy flying all over in my own plane. Now I am a skyway cruiser and love to fly anywhere my heart desires.
Ken, you are the driver of your life and 'NOW' is the only time you have, so drive, drive, drive and enjoy life.

AMEN to that.

JB thanks for bringing Old Leroy's brother, Bubba by last Saturday night! Hell he can sure shoot a mean game of pool. Hey one thing I thought you told him was we have inside plumbing right Well dam you should see…Ha forget about it. “O” that old lady Lotta that Paco sent by, what was the deal with her and Leroy's brother anyway? All they wanted to do was slow dance together all night…. Well as Bubba said when he drove off with Lotta “See ya round like a donut”

Yep, I just don't know how the Felderrusters will live down the shame of Bubba and Lotta leaving together after the party. I think Bubba was stayin' at the Motel 6 over by Disneyland. No one's seen'em since.

Message: Ken Green, being that we graduated the same year, I have had some interesting experiences leading up to 50. At 40 I lost my wife and was left with 2 teenage daughters. That left me no time to myself. As time went by and the girls grew up I found I had a lot more time for the things I have always loved (lowriders). 3 years ago I built a 62 Impala. Took it to one car show, and not realizing how much I would miss the car. I sold it right there. So it ws back to the drawing board again. This time I was going to try to out do myself. Well I did and have been haveing fun ever since. So what I'm saying is take the time to do what you enjoy and go for it. 50 should not be the end, it should be the beginning. Be a Coug!

Message: Kinda wondered how others are dealing (or have dealt) with the big five oh. After pondering how I'd spent my time and other resources for about the past 20 years, I realized that what I really like was a fast, decent handling, car. I always liked cars, and I can remember some guys at Hawthorne Intermediate who kept asking me if I was a surfer or a hodad (spelling?) I always answered that I was a hot rodder, inspite of my age. A series of socially irresponsible cars followed for a number of years, but was brought to an end by marriage, some 17 years ago.
But earlier this year I realized I'm married, not dead, so last May I bought a 72 Pantera basket case. The body, along with too many parts, are sitting in my garage now while I build the engine. I can't spend all my time on it, and it'll probably be a 2 year or more project, but it also will reach new heights of social irresponsibility :) If the engine holds together, which it should, it'll be somewhere near 500+ HP at 6500 RPM. Coupled to a 5 speed in a 3000 lb car, should be interesting. I want to try the open road events in Nevada when I'm done, starting in the lower (100 MPH average speed) class, and working my way up.
Anyhow, I guess I'm re-discovering my roots, and dealing with mortality (i.e., turning 50) at the same time. Just wondered if anybody else is doing something similar.

Hey Ken, As soon as my divorce was final, I went out and bought a brand new 1970 Z28, and I was only 26. Talk about irresponsible. Now I subscribe to the "You Only Live Once" theory. I've got "Kermit" (51 Chevy pickup stocker), "Duner" (mid 70's Meyers Manx bodied street buggy, and "Big Red" (1970 Chevelle SS454 with an M22 on the floor. These last two have been garaged for about 15 years but I'll get to them eventually...........OK so I'm STILL irresponsible.
Thanks for the Pantera story. Very nice ride but do not like changing the plugs in that particular model. Be a Coug boy.

I remember some of the best times of my life were in Hawthorne at HHS & RHD jr High.I grew up on 137th St between Shoup & Oceangate. Right across the street from Mike Sokol. Whose name, I see hasn't made it to the site as yet? Also noticed some of my other friends haven't made it either such as Donetta (Donut) Johnson cls 65, Neva Franz CLS 66, Clover Meadows cls 66. I remember ditching lunch and running over to the little store 4 blks. down Shoup to grab some of the best burritos around or going down Inglewood Ave around 130th for some of the biggest & best subs sandwiches ever. Also the night crazy Wankle head butted someone from another football team and split his helmit during the game. Course we won't talk about why they had to paint the windows on the girls locker room by the quad or the time someone ran someone elses underpants up the flag pole. Just a few of the memories I have. I could go on forever. By the way did anyone else make it to Woodstock in 69 besides me??

Message: We (Brother Bill and I) have received several emails from people on CT asking us if we lived on 121th street in the early 1950?s. The answer is yes; we lived at 5446 W. 121th Street from 1950 to 1958. Some of the people who have asked this question will be in attendance at the Prom. We thought we would put the word out to see if we could locate any others that lived on that street during that period of time and coax them into coming to the Prom. So, here are some of the people we remember: Joyce Williams, Linda and Allan Klatt, Ken Angelini, Steve and Nick Collette, Gary, Colleen and Gina Dunn, (Helen and I don?t remember her sister?s name-The Dittman Sisters), Linda Ann Meleziva, The Cox girl (John and Judy don?t go there). If anyone reads this and lived on ?The Street? or sees their name or knows the whereabouts of one of these great people please contact us.
