Message:Well the Homecoming game is finally upon us. It looks a little drizzly, but don't let that deter your Cougar spirit. Let's all be there to root for our Mighty Cougars. Cougartowners be sitting on the South end of the East grandstand.
If anyone has oldies CD's to bring to the Stick and Stein party, please mark them so you can get them back. We'll be upstairs at the Stick and Stein, just like last year. The Stick and Stein is also providing appetizers and our own bar and bartender. We'll also be crowning our own Cougartown King and Queen. If you were there last year, you know how much fun was had by all. I hope to see you all there again tonight. The Stick and Stein is located at 707 N Sepulveda, between Imperial and El Segundo Bl. on the West side of Sepulveda.
Thanks Cougs

Message: Just recently one of the two high schools (North Bend High) in our Northwest bay area, opened an athletic Hall of Fame. My employer’s daughter will be in the first group inducted as a 4A State champion in five swimming events. She later went on to the University of Michigan where she set several Big-10 records. While I am sure other High Schools have such honors, this was the first from our area. They are honoring individuals back to 1926, which I thought was very cool. It will allow the new breed to look back on their posterity with pride and inspiration. Is there a Cougar Hall of fame? It would seem almost strange if there was not, considering the pride and interest demonstrated towards cougar warriors within these pages. I can visualize the Lent-Sloey-Baker-Hood nominating committee. A special category could be the guy most likely to call the other teams cheerleaders “Sluts”…”Prom Sluts” or “most likely to be a Slut”. I can think of one nomination…….Hi Lisa….Hi Kelly, 70 degrees plus and perfect all week. Oh yea… RE: The Busti-Paddelford debate…You guys have been watching too much of the Gore/Bush national embarrassment debates.
And, Kinda…Quack…Quiet…Quack…out there… Quack…. We’re starting a I wanna be a California Duck Fan Club…send us five bucks and you’ll receive the official Tail Feather and a Henry Weinhardt Private Reserve bottle cap. We will be donating the proceeds to California Universities so next year they can afford to send their offense.
Hey Chris, You quack me up. These Bruin fans think of the Ducks as an "off week". Their minds are back in the days of Mel Farr and Gary Beban, Kermit Johnson and Mike Ballou, Fred McNeill and Randy Cross. Now THOSE were "DUCK Stompin'" teams. Of course Oregons big sport in those days was LaCrosse. They can't figure out how the Washington and Oregon teams are doing it. There's got to be some Pac 10 recruiting violations going on somewhere. So I say if my team "USC" loses to Oregon, then I'll send in my 5 bones and will wear the OU tail feather and the HWPR bottle cap proudly, as I don't really care who I root for, as long as they're a WINNER!!
I do have to say though that OU has got to have the "BUTT UGLIEST" uniforms in all of college football.

Message: Jon (Jonathan) Woods owns the Espresso Shop here on the River that Dennis mentioned. He went to HHS, but didn't graduate (something about a silly rule that says you actually have to go to school once in a while). I think he would have been class of '78. His older sister, Debbie, was class of '72, and there was an older brother, Dave, somewhere in between, possibly class of '75 or '76. Anyone coming to the River, be sure to stop in and have a cup at Kahuna's. In addition to the best espresso and capuccino on the River, he has an impressive collection of vintage surfboards, including a 12 foot redwood model from the '20s.

Message: Call it: "what goes around comes around", "retribution", or "payback", I got "egged" today. Isn't this where I came in about this time last year? I was on Inglewood Ave at 145th (in Hawthorne), just north of Lawndale High, stopped in the left turn lane. It came from my left rear and hit the drip rail above my open window, parts of egg splattering to the lower door (inside and out), my arm, shoes, up in the air and down to the outside windshield, hood and front fender. This was the kind of shot we could only dream about.
I would say, "HE OMELETED YA". Norv, now see that's the kind of shot we never could quite pull off. The perfect "10" egging, as it were. Thanks for sharing and maybe one of these Halloweens we'll get the old "eggin' gang" back together and do a little "Omeleting" ourselves.
Hey.....the older we get, the better we were.........

Message: Looking forward to the reunion on Saturday and Dale save a dance for me! Also, so sorry to hear about your uncle. Anyway, yes everyone please come on down to the 25 year class reunion at the Irvine Marriott on Saturday night, it should be another fun night as the past reunions have been fantastic and I expect nothing less from this one. Alot of time and planning goes into something of this extent but believe me it is worth it in the long run to meet up with your friends from high school. As Dale said cash at the door is fine but a phone call before hand to let the company know your coming is always a good thing to do also. See you all at the Homecoming game and at the reunion too!
75ers, once again, do NOT miss your reunion if at all possible. These are magic times for you, and when they're gone, they're gone. We'll see you all on Friday at the game when the mighty mighty Cougars surgically remove the Mira Costa Mustangs mane.

Hi All, Long time since I've chatted. I was in Laughlin last weekend and there was a big car show. All kinds of cool old cars. I know lots of you guys are into that stuff. I was doing a little "eavesdropping" and heard there is going to be a huge car show in Yuma, Ariz in March. It caught my "ear" because my daughter and grandkids live there. I just may have to cruise by. Also... have a question. Was at the "losers" lounge (which tells you how my gambling went) and some guy was trying to impress me by saying he was from Torrance and that the Beach Boys played at his prom in the early 60's. I thought he was full of b-. Does anyone know if that is true or not. Or if any of the Beach Boys read this.... let me know. I thought my 1969 prom was the only one they played at..... I felt betrayed. P.S. Also had my 31st wedding anniversery yesterday... who would have ever guessed!! Even I wouldn't have taken that bet. Love to all.
Jeanne, He was trying to impress you.

So I thought I'd visit my friend Lisa Graham up here in the high desert of San Diego County where the sun is always shining and terribly hot . Not today it's about to rain! Is it something i said? Man at least when it's overcast in Oregon you can still breath! See ya Friday night. I can't imagine what else they need us to bring to the picnic I think they thought of about everything. Kind of hard to bring all that stuff after traveling 1000 miles. The chair was the hardest to carry on but they let me sit on it in the isle. The potato salad is a little funky now but a little salmilla is good now and again. Good thing meat is not my favorite food group.

However, I've said it before, and I'll say it again, our class was probably most noted for its apathy. Heck, we didn't even have a Valedictorian with a 4.0 grade average!
I'll miss you all at the Homecoming event(s) this year. I had a prior family commitment that is rather important, so instead, I'm looking forward to the big Prom event next year.
John, I know one of these days we have to get together so I can retrieve my El Molinos, now that you're done with them. Should I be concerned that my bank has still never cashed my $10 check for this year's Cougartown membership dues? How long will you wait to deposit that thing? Or, have you waited so long it's no longer valid? If so, let me know, I'll send you a new one! Love ya boy!
Hi Ingrid, Geez I was a little worried about you girl. Nice to know you're still out there. You better make one of the Ctown events soon. I think the last one was a few Pinks runs ago. Yes, I still have your books and they are safe. I actually have a few pages to scan but it will only take an hour or so.
RE the checks that I haven't cashed. They're going into the bank by the middle of next week. I PROMISE!!! Thanks for checking in Ingrid. We'll get together on your books soon.

Alan I was in Parker to make a donation to the local Indians
you know that! I wouldn’t shoot the little doves.
Hey Alan what year did John I’m not sure of his last name the surfer graduate from HHS? John owns and runs the coffee shop down the street from your new office or should I say “Crowbar Hotel” the place looks great; you did a super job. Back to John what’s up with the Grand Piano in the center of the coffee shop? Geez he has thousands of trophies for suffering from all around the world. Is this guy a star? We may need to add him to the HHS hall of fame. Please pass on the name of the coffee shop and location and John’s life story. Stay tuned, this could be a good one JB.
OK I asked you to pass the salt & pepper not the pepper spray! Alan I’ll pick up the mink lining cuffs on way back from Thailand next week. I know you can’t wait.
Alan Next time I head up your way I think I’ll bring along the Hood’s & JB1 & JB2. “John & Robin love to water ski” If you could back out that Big black & white police boat you could turn on the red lights and siren “O my” that would be O so much fuuuunnn!!!! The boys would go wild, then you could shoot them with that dam pepper spray.
Hey Alan, JB2 has refined me. If you're going to pepper spray me, it has to be with a light garlic and lemon pepper with just a hint of tarragon. Thanks Dennis and call me at home please.
