Message: I was really sorry to hear about Karen Cook. Karen and I went through grade school and high school together. She was always one of the most positive people I have ever known and had a special place in my heart. Growing up we were always two of the tallest in our class. That was our common bond. I only wish I could have communicated with her again later in life. I missed my chance. For those Cougars who are even remotely contemplating getting in touch with someone, please don't wait as I did with Karen because you may lose your chance! My heart felt thoughts go out to Karen's family and friends! I know she is missed.

O.K. no more sadness....time to liven things up a bit...
Did anyone else in here ever have a high school pic that their parents dispised so much they threatened not to buy them?
Mine was in my jr. year. This came up at the Pacific NW reunion. Raymond sure had fun teasing me about it, you guys!
I was wearing a tube top and a cool necklace that my older sister, Mary, made for me. I didn't think anything about the tube top. Hey, they were in style back then, it was a hot day and I thought it would look nice with my sister's necklace in the picture, right? WRONG! The tube top was non-existant in the picture! My mom went totally ballistic! All you can see in that pic is my smile and the necklace, it looks like I'm posing topless in it! I told my mom I wasn't, and she knew I wasn't, but to hear her go on and on, jeez....I might as well of been! John, you have a pic of this somewhere, you guys be the judge, should my mom of gotten so worked up? Any other HHS pics out there people have stories about, whether it be parents hating it, or some other interesting factoid?

So for the familys of the classmates that have passed on just think some day you will see your loved ones again. John as for your temp and clock I love it however I will not be home by superbowl sunday I love the winters. However they do say we are going to have a bad one this year.

Message: Thanks for catching the error on Mark Walkers parent's address, it is Grider Ave. Today's update was one more step in the right direction! His blood count is almost down to normal and they removed the ventilator so he can talk again. Vicki says he is pretty much unaware of what his body has been through the last two weeks, maybe that's good! His platelets are holding their own right now but he's still not out of trouble. Keep those prayers going and anyone interested in donating blood it will still help him. It has been so sad to loose so many Cougars so close together. My heart and prayers are with the families.

Message: PROM NITE-SUMMER OF 2001~UPDATE
GOOD NEWS~~THE HEAD COUNT LOOKS GOOOOOOD..SO, WE'RE GONNA "ROCK & ROLL" "DOO WOP" TWIST THE NIGHT AWAY" & ahhhh SLOW DANCE..cheek to cheek the way we did when we were teens. If you don't know what I'm talking about-then go to the PROM NITE questionnaire at the top of the feedback page or click here if you haven't already submitted your names to attend PROM NITE 2001.
It's only been a few days since the questionnaire was posted..and as of tonight I have at least 600 names in...no one's confirmed yet, but the list is growing every day. I'll be taking count until this weekend, and then we'll get real serious about where~when~how many~& how much $$$. So keep your eyes on COUGARTOWN for more info as we decide. Just so you know, good count from the 50's.. the 60's are very, very strong... the 70's are popping out all over.. the 80's are catching up..and a few 90's and only 1 from 2000. We have our teacher's list in the works too, as we'll need all the chaperones we can get. There's a lot that are planning their vacations from out of town around PROM NITE. Later in the game we'll try to post the names of the alumni that are serious about attending so the you can find old flames, crushes..your buddies & good friends and get to see them face to face once more. We'll try to pick the songs that were the cream of the crop from the strong decades. (on the QT we're trying to get John Baker to a dance class.. the boy has two left feet & he claims he's gonna dance the night away..poor Janet~ouch) THE ROWDYS still have to figure out how many parts Sloe Gin & Wild Turkey to add to the Hawaiian Punch..and how many Greek olives do we need to float on top. Marsha Russell Hood is in charge of the punch bowl, the coffee urn..and the bathroom sinks. So if you want to go to PROM NITE once more..or missed it the first time around.. you've waited long enough.. We'll also be posting a selection of themes so that all of you can have a say in how this prom will look.. I love "ONE SUMMER NIGHT" (we fell in love....) Thanks again for the support and suggestions. We'll take all of them into consideration. (I love this!)

The only heavenly occurrence in the northwest this weekend was watching a bunch of "bruins" with their ass on fire, high tailing it into the woods! I'm surprised that they didn't start a forest fire. Sorry about the loss of our classmates you guys. Gary Lents, I'm going to send you an e-mail soon about getting on earthlink. Lyman Moss, I call the sc team dogs because thats what they are. Washington (I know they're also called dogs)are a superior breed of dog. But sc they're dogs. Back alley no good beggin dogs! Washington is The Huskies! There's a great difference between dogs and Huskies. My Bruins will rebound! I predict! Remember Criswell? MAY THE COUGAR BE WITH YOU. Jake N Jude!

Grease 2 had a scene filmed at the old Hawthorne Bowl on 141st and Hawthorne Bl. I think Patricia Birch was the director. Then moving across the Bl and up to Hollys was Pulp Fiction, directed by Quentin Tarantino. What do I win?

Message: We need to rally some Cougar help for one of our own. Mark Walker (graduated early 70's) is really sick and he and his family need our thoughts and prayers. Mark had a kidney/pancreas transplant in April. The organs are doing fine but he has developed a severe infection. I am including an email from his sister who graduated in '79 (I think) to explain another very important need Mark has. Today Vicki sent a little encouraging news. Mark's white cell count has gone down to 14,000 from 97,000 (normal is 10,000). He has a great need for blood and platelets and that's where we can help. Here's the info needed when donating blood or platelets. When donating for Mark we are supposed to ask for "The Teddy Bear Card". I'm not sure how these Teddy Bear Cards work but the family is asking
that they be sent to Mark's parents so they can be turned in to the
hospital.
Their address is:
Dick and Ruth Walker
13735 S. Grinder Ave
Hawthorne, Ca. 90250
"As you may or may not know, my brother Mark is very sick. He is in need of
blood and platelets. Please find it in your hearts to make a donation at your local Red Cross for the family. Here's some information you'll need to make the donation on behalf of him:
Red Cross (800)448-3543
Ask for the TEDDY BEAR CARD
His Doctor is Dr. Robert Naraghi
He is in St. Vincent's Medical Center (Los Angeles)
His full name is RICHARD MARK WALKER
Thanks, Vicki Brenton"
I think we've all had enough sad news on CT for awhile, lets work to have a happy ending for this Cougar. Thanks for all your help and I'll try to update Mark's progress when I hear from the family.
