Raymond dear, that place hasn't been Farrell's for a long time now. And, hey, give me a break, you live a lot closer to Lloyd Center than I do! I'm in Newberg, Remember? I'm not driving 35 to 40 miles for ice cream! Some things, yes, but not ice cream! But....if I'm ever around P-town and you want to treat, well....that's a different story altogether, Raymond....by the way, how was the air show, bud? Sunday, I heard the Blue Angels all the way over here! Awesome!

Message: Anita, anita, ANITA! Haven't you been around? If you look closer you'll notice we TOO have a Farrell's Ice Cream Parlor, ah, sort of. It's called the Portland Ice Cream Parlor and it's located a few blocks away from Loyled Center. I knew a guy who was related to my ex-wife who almost became co-owner and it started right here in Portland, OR before moving on to CA. The name has change but the atmosphere is the same (almost) but man, plenty of yummies. Go check it out. I remember the old Farrell's in Torrance and I remember it changed to "Eat at Ed's". That was the coolest restaurant I've ever been too. How did they go out of business? They couldn't of been in $$$ trouble could they? I remember waiting for an hour OUTSIDE just to get in to that place. Now what is it called? I can't remember the restaurant next to it but the Mexican restaurant had some awesome Margarita that has like 31 flavors. Miss that place. Was it called Casa Maria? Had another chain restaurant in Playa del Rey.

Gina Peck Black! so good to see you again, dear heart! I love people who are as wacky and sick joke wise as I am...let's me know I'm not alone in the world!LOL!
I know what you mean about the caca cows off of 15. My mom lives in Sun City and when me, hubby and my daughter, Cassie, went to see her in 1998, we had to go by that disgusting smell on the way to her house! I thought I was going to gag on a meal I had 2 days before, it was so bad, so yeah, your friend Dee is definitely out there ( finally, someone who makes me seem sane!) I wish I would of known there was a Farrell's out that way, though.
The last time I was at a Farrells' was the goodbye party that my brother and a bunch of our mutual friends threw for me and my then boyfriend, Drew Shryock ( Aviation High) right before we moved to Oregon in 1980. It was the one on Hawthorne Blvd. in Torrance, which I hear is no longer there ( Bummer!) I spoke of my friends, Carla Pasch and Marcia Wells earlier in feedback...well, that was the last time I saw them was at my goodbye Farrells' party. There was like 20 of us, all we all had the MJ munchies and we ordered those hot fudge mountains, (or were they called volcanoes?) and a bunch of banana splits...hell, so much stuff, it was insane! We all got so loud and silly, yelling out to the waiters and all "More nuts, more cherries, more bananas, etc. We were by far the loudest group there! We even drowned out a birthday party there and a few people who ate their hog troughs and were on their chairs oinking (remember how they used to make you do that when you ordered and finished one of those?)
Ah Farrells....not a whole lot that got much more fun and fattening and all that. But who cares about the calories, huh? John, pass the spoon on that Cherry Garcia, bud! =)~
Sorry...BUUUUURRRPP!!!

Anita, darling, I'm glad I can make you chuckle. No, I'm not a vet, but a former Executive Secretary turned dog groomer! I have a small household zoo and a dog grooming business.
I want to toss out a BIG thank you to the Coug who left feedback about the Farrell's Ice Cream Parlor in Temecula.
I drove down to San Diego to pick up my new bunny's cage, with my crazy friend Dee, and the deal was we could go back on the 15 if we could stop at Farrell's. Dee likes to take the 15 because she likes the smell of the caca cows. She actually rolls down the windows, sticks her head out of the car, inhales deeply and yells, "I love you caca cows! I love you my angels!" So, now you know why I think she is crazy. But, the hot fudge nutty, nutty was a delight.
Man, I'm glad you brought that up Gina. I forgot I've got a quart of "Cherry Garcia" in the freezer. Later Cougs!!!

Lee Leanord lives right next to Stacy now behind HHS and he is still a sprint car driver although his car was mortally wounded recently at Perris (a few barrel roll's and a splat). All was lost except the Donovan motor (580 horses) and misc. parts. Lots of cougs finding this site. I see one of the neatest ladies that I know from HHS (Jimmie Lee Rowe) just attached herself to the email list.
Yeah, it looks like Stacy is now the coolest street in Hawthorne. Lee, sorry about turning the sprint car into garage sale memorabilia. Nice to save the Donovan though huh.

I remember spending time at Melody Music in the mid 70's as my friend (Paul Meacham) played drums in a christian rock band with one of the salesmen that worked there. I HAD to have a Fender Stratocaster (Ritchie Blackmore fanatic) and it took 2 months of hard earned part time wages on lay-a-way installments to buy a 76 Strat...Still have it too.

I just had hernia surgery last Friday and I can't do a whole lot but lay around and eat pain meds and do light duty with my daughter, Cassie. My husband took care of her mostly over the weekend, though. What I did was to lay on my futon and with this WebTV thing ( perfect couch potato internet for recovering from surgery), went and started from page one on this feedback section. I did this for several reasons....to see if there was anyone who came into feedback but didn't register on the alumni list that I might want to get in touch with ( and there were several) and to just see everyone's memories. I also found out that one of the people who's memories I liked the most, Keith D. Jones, is a cousin of someone I have wanted to find for a long time now, Carla Pasch. She moved to Rolling Hills right after our 9th grade year.
Carla and I met each other at Juan Cabrillo school in 6th grade. She had this really cool house that had not only a swimming pool, but a koi fish pond too. She lived in the Holly Glen area. Me, Carla, and her friend from Lawndale, Marcia Wells, used to go horseback riding too. Carla and Marcia had their horses at the Tee-Pee corral. We used to have so much fun horseback riding and having impromptu swimming parties at Carla's house. Me, Carla, Marcia, Leslie Chapin, Valerie Rosauer, Marilyn Horn, Shelly Tomlinson, Ibett Irizarri, Lauren Bryan, Teri Painter, Debbie Araujo, just to name a few of the gals, Norm Field, Robert Kattan, Larry Dion, Ron Stone, to name some of the guys. Me, Val and Marilyn have gotten together this year. We just found Teri here in feedback the other day. Does anyone know the whereabouts of any of those other people I named?
And, for you Cabrillo people....remember the teachers Julie Haratsuka, who was Japanese and taught us about Japan and had our whole classroom decorated in Japanese stuff and she and her relatives made us an authentic Japanese meal and we all sat on the floor on those mats? And what about Alice Marshall, who read cool stories to us out loud like the Hobbit, and had her hippie like friends show us how to do tye-dye and they'd come to class with their acoustic guitars and sing us folk songs? Those were some good ol' times over there in that area of Hawthorne, memories I'll cherish for a lifetime. I'm only on page 85 of the old feedback so far. I think I came in on like page 215. I have a long way to go, so I better go and catch up!
Thanks Anita, I'm glad you're getting lots out of the feedback. As time goes on, there're lots of clues to *friendships past* in the forest of feedback pages.

I can't think of anyone that's had such a profound impact on so many lives in just one short year. The picnics, the breakfasts, the parties, the crazy emails, wine country, cruise nights, pink's runs, oh ya..Maui and the weddings. Thanks big guy..we all owe you one. Thanks Judy and Janny for becoming great friends as it's been a real ride this last year huh. I've made bunches of new friends and reunited with many more. Gosh it's been a party from cruise nights to hanging out with HCH and "Our Miss Brooks" to all the new people that have found THEIR old friends. Yes, and the rekindled high school sweetheart relationships, engagements and Maui Weddings. It's going to be hard to top this last year of my life. I couldn't have imagined how it would've turned out, and still more and more Cougs, Olympians, Lancers, Warriors, Eagles, Cardinals, Comets, Mustangs, Seahawks, Monarchs, Sentinels, etc. are finding the city limits of Cougartown every day. This next year promises to be even better, so no one wander too far from the outskirts. Thanks Judy. . . . . .
