Message: To John Baker, Mitch Skaff was my father. That picture you posted with Liz Estrada's message sure took me back. My dad owned Centinela Cafe on Hawthorne Blvd. near El Tarasco. His buddies used to hang out there and shoot the breeze. I think your dad was one of them. For sure Ed Lutz was one of them. He was there all the time. He practically supported our family, he was such a good customer and friend. I sure would love to have a copy of that photo. I'm not computer savvy but if you could email it to me maybe someone could help me get it to a photo shop. I'd be grateful.
To Liz Estrada, Your friend Joey is a nice lady and I didn't tell her any secrets. Her smile isn't from anything I did, or said. Hope all of you out there are well and happy. Jerry
Yeah, I remember the Centinela well. I loved the penny peanut machines on the bar. Your dad was a great guy and one of Hawthornes good guys. That picture was from a yearbook. I'll scan it and send it to you. My Uncle is in that same photo. Thanks Jerry

I was so smart I dropped out of El Camino and started pumping Standard Stations Gasoline to pay for helicopter flying lessons...and got drafted before the first lesson. About the UCLA ride, I haven't been on that one yet and I doubt that we have crossed paths recently, you may recognize Pat when you see her. I moved back to Ca from Missouri just a little over a year ago. I picked up my 2000 softail on Dec. 31, 99 after being on a waiting list for what seemed forever, What a nice New Year present that was. Pat has a 97 Sportster Hugger punched out to 1200cc with a stretch tank and a custom paint job. I rode into work today and am about to head out to lunch with a couple other riders from work. Pat gets concerned a little that I ride in rush hour traffic. I'm not trying to worry her, riding is just "To Much Fun". Sorry Baby! Joyce Check out this ride scheduled for this coming Sept.
Pat and I will be on this one.

Message: Hi everyone!
Usually a reader not a poster but I could not resist. Last night on spur of the moment I was asked to a Ricky Martin concert (love of my life) and went. I had to pick up my friend at work (lax) and passed thru Hawthorne. Our high school looks so different as does Hawthorne itself. A bit disappointing. On my way to the concert I was telling all these younger women about when I went to a Beach Boys concert on New Years eve and had third row seats in 1976. They could not relate! Then I tried telling them about the Rod Stewart concerts I used to attend in the 70's and again they could not relate. I felt a bit old until I got to the concert and saw "RICKY" and for a moment felt "16" again! What a great feeling if only for an hour! Not used to being a spur of the moment kind of gal but the whole evening was just way too cool. I recommend that everyone do something wild and crazy every once in while just to relive the magic of our youth. Thanks for listening!!!!!!
Thanks Louise, but Ricky Martin!!?? I can't relate......you MUST mean Ricky Nelson.

So, just read Anita e-mail and I've been talking to Terrie and somewhere Mike is in the picture all taking an interest in having a some short of a reunion all-class style here in the Northwest. Well, I know they're alot of folks living in the Northwest and some are very interested in meeting everyone but for the rest of you????? We need to start a list of "Who's interested" so we can plan accordingly. Seaside Beach is a good place to start and I will be getting in touch with Shilo Inn to see what kind of discount package they're willing to offer. So, E-mail me and let's get together! Can't be all that hard can it? Act quickly because summer is almost over (well, we got til early Oct. do we?). I'm up for a fun game of Volleyball, skating on the strand (yes we got one of our very own but not nearly as good as the good ol South Bay Strand). Be looking forward of hearing ya all.
There you go Northwest Cougs. The gauntlet has been thrown down. Let's see what you can come up with. I know there are hundreds of you, so it will be a great party. Good Luck....
