I have received several e-mails from people who have told me to reserve a cabin for them for the 11/3/00 cruise to Ensenada. Some of them have not sent in their $300 per cabin deposit though. I can not reserve a cabin without a deposit. I only have a few more inside cabins left. I don't know how many the cruise line will let me keep after the 4/3 deadline. So get your deposits in asap! E-mail me if you have any questions (please don't e-mail your credit card numbers). It's been a lot of fun talking to so many of my old friends! Thanks to all who have e-mailed me, even if it's just to let me know you won't be able to make it! It has been fun catching up, or just hearing from you all! HAVE FUN AT PINKS TONIGHT! Message: Karen Hare - I just read your message regarding "borrowing your parents car". In my house, my parents would let us use the car, but we had to pay 10 cents a mile. So, of course, I figured out how to disconnect the speedometer/odometer. I'd drive the mile or so over to Nancy Gea's and/or Nancy Are's house and we'd drive everywhere from Hollywood to Newport Beach and back. Then when we'd get home, I'd hook it back up and pay my parents 20 cents for the evening. (Back then, everyone would chip in 25 cents for gas and it would fill up the tank.) I only got caught when, one evening after having way too much to drink, I couldn't get the wires back into the slot. I figured I'd fix it in the morning, but I was too late. My dad drove the car first and figured out what I'd been doing. Got in big trouble that time! Then he fixed it so we couldn't do it again.

I know the others but I asked and that's not fair. That young picture of me was just before a big bash I had on 133rd. Petey gave me the macrame belt for a gift, we figure it must been in the bag. This was the biggest party on 133rd. It was known as MINI WOODSTOCK. Had a band and all. Gary Lents mentioned the railroad tracks in Holly Glenn.(who is holly glenn?) anyway, I had this nice Mercedes a 1958 or so. Very clean, for some odd reason I had it lowered, Timmy Fye borrowed it one night, he and Art VanderGalen took a joy ride down those tracks, leaving a painted message on the wall,"I Love Kelley" well he better had you should have seen my car when it was returned*#$%!!! Never thought much of Timmy or those tracks after that. Awhile back someone mentioned working at Northrop. I worked there in 1968-70 not real sure. Thats where I picked up that cool Mercedes for only $300.00. Bye, Bye for you.

And guess what? I do remember when there was the contest for the Hawthorne slogan, and I thought the pick was perfect. But who dunnit? Hmmm.
I was just lying in bed thinkin' about the Golden Days of elementary school. I remembered the May Day Festival complete with May Pole and a parade of all the classes singing songs and performing dances from different countries. We had a Queen and King and because I was a girl scout I was chosen to be part of the flag ceremony. I wore white gloves and carried the flag out to the center of the field for the Pledge of Allegiance and the Nationl Anthem. The most patriotic day of my life. May Day was cool or as RHood writes, KEWL. Just thought of a couple of things I had to share. Who remembers go-aheads? Remember the record the Flying Saucers, a satire of then current rock and R&B songs? It broke a record for most records sold in the first day of release.
Is anybody old enough to remember the film rental store on Imperial just east of Prairie? They rented movie projectors and those big reels of movies. Every weekend they showed movies on the back of the lot outside for free. We got to see Zorro serials. I was pretty young then myself. This would have been early 50's.
Hi Marilyn, I still have a couple of satire songs. "Buchanan and Ancell meet the creature" and "Where's Elvis". Both are pretty dated, but classics. I'll put them on the site one of these days.
