Message: A NEW YEARS NOTE FROM THE ROWDYS.
A little note of thanks to "The Deer Hunter" John Baker...the guy that came back to get all his buds from years ago.. allowed us to make new friends and brought us all together again in a COUGARTOWN melting pot for the best time we've ever had. We'll never forget the spring, summer & fall of '99 and now the winter of 2000. We owe you more than you'll ever know. (don't go there John) CRUISE NIGHT is gonna be the best..and the ROWDYS are practicing our most outstanding talents.. (ah ahh John-don't edit me out) Now--once more just for Mom B.--I'm off like a prom dress..
Judy DeGrazia THE ROWDYS.
Judy Wudy, I don't know what my life would have been like NOT knowing you and the Rowdys. I DO know it's more full with you here. Thanks for becoming a part of my life.
Marsha and I were talking this morning about life changes and life partners and what's REALLY important. I think we both agree that we've "LIVED" more this last year than in all the years previous, and Cougartown has been a large part of that living. I've met more people this last year that I wish I would've known earlier in life. Also, I knew many of you then, and wish that I could've stayed in touch....... now is not a time for "would'ves and could'ves", but is a time for LIVING. Many of you have touched my life and made it better just by being here. Many people I didn't even know a year or two ago have magically appeared and somehow become a part of my life. You know who you are. That's all for now. I know you understand, and thanks to all the Cougs for being such a close knit family. Cougartown is magical, and a very special part of my life, and I hope, your life too. I thank God for you, and this magical place every day. You are all my family and I love you very much. Now let's get on with this LIVING part.

Message: I took a walk around the neighborhood on Christmas day, to see all of the toys that the neighbor kids received. To my surprise very few children were outside with bikes or skates, balls and bats like we may have done when we were kids. I guess that times have changed and kids stay at home with computer/video games, VHS or DVD movies and talking books (some 25+ years ago I worked with the blind and they received their books on tape now everyone can get them). I guess we have entered the communications age where instead of waxing a surfboard we clean a mouse. Instead of riding our bike to the grocery store we surf to www.netgrocer.com. Instead of walking downtown to the stores we go to www.cyberlinks.com and instead of having a yard sale we just go to ebay.com. Where am I going with all this? With all of the lack of exercise that we are receiving nowadays we need Cougartown for our exercise. Cruise night will allow us this opportunity for exercise. We may even have to walk a ½ block to Fosters. I hope to see many of you at Fosters on January 8th.
Or if you cant' make it, just go to cougartown.com and look at the pictures. No, we need you all there. Or at least the ones that live within a 600 mile circumference. It's a great time and you see all your old buds from school or you meet all the people you've read on Feedback. And it's FREE!! Bring your cruiser, your best girl (what is your BEST girl anyway?) and be there on January 8th.

Message: Well we just had the best and most hectic Christmas ever. 11 of us (5 adults, 6 children) went to Disneyland on Christmas day. Santa left personally addressed tickets on our Christmas tree. It was a blast. Earlier in the week Shaaron Netherton, Jerry LeBlanc and I were going over some priceless mementos from Ramona School and Eucalyptus-the sixth grade camp collection of stories from the campers. Alan Nelson - your story was in there, too. As were a lot of other CTowners. Evidently that was the year of the great snow fall. Shaaron also had the Eucalyptus school anthology of stories and poems from about 1964-65. Brother, memory lane or what? Anyhow, happy new millennium to everyone - and like they used to say on Hillstreet Blues - "be careful out there!"

Message: Hi John and all you cougs! I hope everyone had a great holiday and have a safe New Year. I just had to tell you what a small place Hawthorne is. Late this afterneen Mario and I took the dogs on a walk. Around the corner there is this guy mowing his lawn. He is having an addition done to his house and we stopped to talk to him and see if it was the same floor plan as us and he was nice enough to show us what he was doing and give us tips on the city stuff. We told him we just moved here this year from the South Bay and how much we liked it. He said that both he and his wife had grown up in Hawthorne, both HHS C/O 67 and moved out here years ago. I said I too had grown up in Hawthorne and we compared notes on what streets we lived on etc. His wife who's name I think was Linda grew up on Ramona and 137th right near me and he grew up in Hollyglen. I was so excited to tell him about Cougartown and tell him about the FostersFreeze run on the 8th, I must have gabbed for 10 minutes straight on the same breath of air. After all the gabbing I can't remember his name or her maiden name. I did tell them where I live and told them to come by anytime and I will get them to cougartown to cruise the pages. The girls at work tease me and call me miss south bay or miss yellowpages because I always know someone who's in the office or tell them of stories like this where I run into someone who is from Hawthorne. I don't think they understand how small and tightknit Hawthorne was and maybe still is. Sorry I took up so much space but I was so tickled about this. P.S. If anyone thinks they know who I am talking about, post it on feed back and I'll get back to you. Hopefully I'll see them again soon.
Lori, I keep telling you it's a small Cougar world out there. Thanks very much for the story. I always enjoy those "Cougar get together" stories.
My daughter lives and works in the Palm Springs area. One day she was checking out the Cougartown website and a coworker walked up behind her and asked what she was doing. She told her she was looking at her dad's website and then went on to tell her what it was about. Well come to find out, this coworker was a Cougar too. Amazing.....so see, it IS a small Cougar world.
