Message: Hey Ron thanks for the kudos. But I can?t take credit for making them. All I did was link them. But you are sure right about being a memory jogger. Even though some of the old places flash by very quickly, they produce a torrent of reminiscences including all the people you mentioned and more. In fact one other is Larry Boyce (lurking on this site) who is still in semi touch with David Nelson who has turned into a hermit.

Per Jerry Miles there is still another 90 minutes of this video out there somewhere. I figure if I continue to hint around that someone will make it available without me having to go to Borders and throw down $30 bucks to see it. Carl J.
Hey Carl, Jerry will be adding Parts 1 through 9 to our Video page shortly. Thanks for the interest as it really is a great bio of Brian's life.

Message: Wade & Dean, Thanks for the shout-out. We were blessed to grow up in Hawthorne when we did. With LL, ML, Pop Warner football and the great Parks & Rec. dept. we always had something to do. EUCALYPTUS PARK RULES, we had the only gym in the parks dept. I think that's where they came up with the slogan "Who's got next". Dean, your post about Ric Carden reminded me that in 67 I was on the Stars with his cousin Kelly Carden, he was my mentor that year. He taught me more about life than BB. R.I.P. Kelly. Wade who in your family came up with the nickname "Bad News"? I never knew. Major Cougar get together this weekend at Rob Daquila & Leslie Hanson-Daquila-Freer's daughter Jennifer's wedding. In my next post I'll give a Cougar head count. Now my own shout-out, Michelle Vickers, and Karen Snyder, two Cougar cuties, where are you two? Now to borrow Robin Hood's line, Later Cougs.
Hey Rick, It's Later Skaters You can Cougle it.

Message: I received the tape of "Brian Wilson: A Beach Boy's Tale" the other day and it is a very good watch indeed. The YouTube version is only ten minutes of a ninety minute video. Amazon.com does have a few copies of this film left if anyone is interested.
Thanks Jer', How about adding the 9 Parts on YouTube to our Video List? Just a thought as it might make it easier for some to find.

Message: Many thanks to Jerry Miles for jumping in to help me confirm that I had indeed seen parts of a Beach Boy documentary on the Biography channel a couple of months ago. Jerry's research uncovered a 1999 A&E biography production called "Brian Wilson: A Beach Boy's Tale". Apparently Jerry ordered it somehow and confirms that it has some great old footage of Hawthorne. The fact that Jerry, our resident historian and videographer, was not immediately aware of it makes me think that this video is not well known. I've asked Jerry to reveal how he was able to order it since I have been unable to find it for sale on the net. From the bits I did see, this is a very entertaining video for anyone who grew up in Hawthorne back in the day. Thanks again, Jerry!
Thanks Carl AND Jerry. I have seen it too, only don't know exactly where. Maybe at Rich's house.

Message: Hey EL Rojo, You are thinking of Mariposa & Sepulveda a lot of racing on that street for sure, the big department store was White Front. Chester someone, can?t think of his last name, class of 60? had an old model T Ford took off his passenger side door one night I think he hit a telephone pole. Howard / AKA Paco and I drove over to El Segundo looking for the door and we found it right in the middle of the street. We got it back to Chester that night and he was still upset until Paco handed over his big green door. Try and get away with something like that in today's world.

For those of you who knew Sue, you know that she was always so vibrant and the life of the party. I personally have known Sue since jr. high at Dana and can truly say that she could always make me laugh. Her family is trying to locate Rene Rembert. If you can help out, please let me know. And, Sue, I know that the angels in heaven are now laughing at your jokes. RIP
Sad news Linda, thanks for letting Susan's friends know.

Message: Calling all you Cougars............I am sure many of you are aware that October is National Breast Cancer Awareness month. I heard Dr. Susan Love speak today about a million women research project called The Army of Women. This project is for ALL women, old, young, women who have had cancer and those who have not. I encourage you to go to www.armyofwomen.org and sign up to be involved in the research. Wouldn't it be amazing to be included in a group that helped to determine WHAT CAUSES this horrible disease. If not for yourself, do it for your daughters and grandchildren. Please spread the word and share the website with others.

Message: Tom Whitener, that guys car was a 58 Impala with a 348 in it and 3 on the tree. His name was Tom Hardon, kind of heavy set dark haired guy. I don't know where he went or what happened to him. But his car was a fast mutha back then. Unforunately he ran into a newer car that he couldn't touch. I'm trying to remember the name of a street that came off of Sepulveda and ran down towards North American and Douglas, seems it started by a big department store, that was straight as an arrow and a great place to run. Well, Tom chose a guy off on the blvd and there they went. I started them and Tom got his doors blown off by a 60 Chevy 2 door hard top, brand new with a 4 speed. Of course he had a bitchen looking babe next to him. They didn't race again and Tom went back to the drawing board. But great fun seeing the evolution of a little street racing as the times let us. Great fun. MAY THE COUGAR BE WITH YOU. Jake N Jude
Thanks Jake, That street was/is Mariposa and the department store was Leonards.

Bruce Johnson's (and then mine) 55 Chevy "Young Blood"
My (and then Bruce's)49 Merc "Can't Dance"
John Blankenship's 50 or 51 Chevy "Mr. Blue"
A guy I don't remember who had a really fast 59 or 60 Chevy, spelled something like "Misasisdragin" (lowered of course)
Hey Tom, That was a white 58 Chevy Impala "Miasis Dragon" with a scrolly dragon painted under the words. Can't remember his name either but I bet someone does. Thanks....

Hey Steve, I am confused too. I think Paco wants the name of the guy/girl who owned a car with the name,"MR." and "Tipper" painted on the side????

Message: Thank you to all that worked on putting the picnic together. It was our second picnic and we are looking forward to the next! It was really great seeing and talking to old friends and making new ones. Must say when the games began I all most fell over from laughter with the frozen Tee Shirt contest, Joyce and Howard were in a class all by them self. When the pass the banana contest was held the look on Karen's face was priceless when she turned to pass it to the next person. Just goes to show that you're never to old to have fun. Again thank you to all, it was a special day that will be remembered for years to come.
Hey Bob, Thanks to you and Lisa for being there and for entering the contests too. It WAS a fun day, for sure. BTW, The first batch of Picnic pics are on Pacos Pics as we speak. Enjoy....
