Message: So sorry to hear about Coach Yost passing away. He treated all of us scorekeepers with respect and you could tell he enjoyed the wrestlers like they were his own kids. During the season when the HHS kids were over, he would call my mom up and tell her who could eat dinner and who had to make weight! He came to the class of 70's ten year reunion to visit with everyone, and I could always tell he cared what happened to the kids he coached. He wanted donations to go to Redondo High, but I , for one, will be making a donation to the HHS sports program in his memory. Thanks John, and keep up the good work!

Message: Hey Cougs...been a while....Sounds like my younger bro Ken had a blast at the Reunion. Hey, I am writing to help out a kid that works for us here, a wheelchair user and I think the poorest family I have met in Tennessee so far. Last year we pulled together a cool vacation for this kid, so this year we are trying to TOP THAT. If you can help by forwarding this youtube link to friends we are trying to raise money for an AWESOME vacation for this kid Keith. I am talking no more than a few dollars here. He IS the least of these for sure. Here is
the link on youtube Bless you all and remember....every day is a GIFT. Thanks again John for all you do.

Message: Hey John - you don't know me, but I had a Cougar-sighting that I wanted to share with you. When I was in LA for the 1978 reunion last weekend, my friends Tammy Stiritz and Jeanette Nimrichter drove me to my old neighborhood, Holy Glen, to see the house I grew up in. (My parents sold the house in late 1979!) Jeanette's rental car was a convertible, so we were sitting in front of my house while I was taking pictures.
The next door neighbor came out - I'm sure he thought I was a stalker or something - so I waved and said not to worry, I grew up in this house! He squinted in the sun at me and said "Are you one of the Mann girls???" I said I was, the younger one (sorry Carol, but that will ALWAYS be true!) - and he remembered me! They had moved in when I was 15, and I vaguely remembered him. MORE IMPORTANTLY - HE IS A CLASSMATE OF YOURS! Dave Stark, HHS Class of 1962! We told him about your fabulous website, and he replied that he knows you but he doesn't have a computer! Just wanted you to know that we TRIED to recruit another member of Cougartown for ya, unfortunately we ran into the one guy in the free world without a computer!

Message: I want to thank Bob Daman HHS Class Of '65 for stepping up and offering to make the plaques we need at NO COST. This is a great thing Bob is doing and we all should thank him. He has a shop in Mission Viejo Ca. called
A-1 Awards & Engraving. Please if need any kind of award give Bob a call and support his business. This is the type of support we need. Anything to help alleviate any costs to put this together. Thank you Bob. Also, want to thank Matt Peterson. I remember Matt as a wrestler at HHS. He has given me some great leads and has been a great help. As has Sharon McDonald who is proof reading all the material I am putting together. I average about a C- in English so there is some work. I will have the complete Sponsorship Package done this week.

Message: So far, 52 Cougars have stepped up to donate $7476 for the HHS athletic programs. This is only 12.5% of the goal of $60,000 we hope to raise and right now, it isn't looking good when you see how donations have slowed to a trickle. Most of us were fortunate enough to participate in HHS sports in times where we had better funding and did not have to go out and raise money through car washes and bake sales. These kids today are looking at massive program eliminations this year which pretty much kills the joy and spirit of athletic competition. Yes, maybe we don't have our kids going to HHS and so who cares what happens to the classes of today. But if we don't intervene now to help out, the tradition and sport legacy of HHS will die. So come on all you folks write a check today if you haven't yet done so. Let's see your names on the banner JB has started. Keith, Wade, Leslie, Jim and Bill, you know who you are. We have at least 200 regular CT members still to donate and over $50,000 still to raise. Dont wait for somebody else to step up, do something today to help save HHS sports. There is no good excuse for this fund drive to have stopped so far short of the goal. Be a winner and make a donation today!

Message: The press release is done and the Sponsorship Package is almost done. I thought I cold finish over the weekend but I got going on two other projects. I will have it done this week for sure. I need to send it to you John because there are four levels of sponsorship and I want to make sure we can give them what I said. I don't think there should be a problem. Also, we need a trophy place to make plaques for us. Is there one in Hawthorne or does anyone know anybody. We are giving nice plaques to the major sponsors so they can display them in their business and let people know they are supporting CougarFest. We also need a banner maker for the banner being displayed at home games with the sponsors on it. Sorry for taking so long but all of a sudden I am busy but it will be done this week.

To Leslie Greasby - what, since you had a date to this years reunion you didn't bother to call or come by for a beer? Mike will be soooo upset!! Only kidding...I had been invited by Maggie and company to crash the party, but actually forgot all about it! Maybe next year...

Message: I just returned to OOOOOOOOOKkkkkklahoma, where the wind comes sweepin' down the plaaaaiinnnsss!!!! I had gone on the "Everyone I've ever Met, Known, and Loved" tour of California, starting with a Family Reunion Aug 3, then a visit to the folks and other family and friends in Northern CA, then back to the South Bay for the 1978 Class Reunion. What a blast it all was! I want to thank our reunion committee for a terrific job, and I'm proud of the money that was raised for the HHS Athlete donation. Special Thanx to Tammy Stiritz-Long and Kip Long for putting me up in their house (AND for just putting up with me!), what gracious hosts! I visited with so many long-lost friends, too many to name here, but it was so great to see all of you and get caught up! (I can't believe how many of you bought my story that you have to sing the Oklahoma! song from the musical to get your driver's license here... ) So 1978 classmates - Please know that my e-mail addy is accurate on this site, I hope to hear from some of you!
