We want to know which Hastings married which Valencia??? Those are some cute kids! We've been looking through the old El Molino and are wondering where all these people are: Mike Casad (Faelin wants to know if you are married? Do you remember our old skateboarding days?), Ron Perly (Faelin wants to know if you remember when you two went skinny dipping? Oops, maybe that wasn't you?? Who was that? Whoever it was send Faelin an email!), also where is Dennis Gonsalves? Teresa Deuel where are you? Laurie Bristow? Terry Agnew? Arnold Keene? Laura Escalante? Linda Kemp? Ron Botelho? Kevin Winters? Kim Severtson and Stacey Bailey? Mickey Hamman (voted "Friendliest"), Robin Morton? Mark McCartin? John D'Errico (Cyndi wants to you know if you remember when we did a science project together for Mr. Andrade's class? Didn't we get an "F" on our project? We were too busy with other experimenting???) Looking forward to hearing from any of you. Two Cute Chicks in Paradise!
Sounds to me like it's not Fosters soft serve party time, but Boilermaker Mai Tai night on the Big Isle. You two have one for me and be safe.

I was so bummed about missing CN that Darryl was a sweetie and came down there with me the night before for a soft serve cone and a little reminiscing....We decided it would be a good thing to leave our mark so that you'd know we were there in good Cougar spirit. When I discovered the crack he made about the Griffins (HIS school mascot) and the Cougars, I told him he would be on his own at the next CT gathering! The cute little gal at the ice cream window was named Ariana and is currently a Cougar at HHS. She was marvelling at the lengths we all would go to.....and too, I think she was a little impressed. I know I am.......Cougar Spirit, RAH!!

Cramer...Sturges owes me about 2 grand...you'll have to wait for your five bucks. He's still always short. But he's a kick.
Betty...I've read all your messages...don't get me wrong, but in every one of them you mention a bar or a party...did you ever go to classes? ANd as for Donna (Cook) Wright...she and I are roommates in La Palma, CA. Honest.
FOr the rest of you 69ers...don't miss the reunion on October 9, 1999. We don't care if you've gained weight, lost some hair, can't drink, don't drive, wear glasses, have wrinkles, hair is gray,...none of those things matter. You're all missed....and everyone who goes will want to see you....ALL OF YOU.

John's right about the reunion business. No one cares what you look like. If they did, They'd have "Magic Markered" my name off the list years ago. Come on people, it's reuniting time. Do NOT miss your reunions. I think there're a few 79ers out there that had their reunion last weekend that can attest to that. If you haven't signed up yet, please do it NOW.

Message: Larry Biller...shame on you. Back on pages 83 and 84 you asked Betty (Kean) if she remembered dancing for a band and the name of the band. You were right..it was the "Civilized Movement." And Betty and Joann did dance at the Sports Area, KRLA Battle of the Bands and Tridents Car Show. The Civilized Movement consisted of Ted Jolly (Drums), John Wilson (Rhythm Guitar), Ron Febbraro (Bass Guitar), You (Lead Guitar), Kathy Glen (Female Lead Vocals), and Me (Male Lead Vocals). Paul Johnson might have been there too. Betty and Joann wore bright lime green outfits and white knee high go-go boots. They stood on either side of us. We all wore black pants, white shirts and ties. It was 1967. We came in 17th out of over 200 bands. We also made a record that John Wilson wrote called, "How Could I Know." The flip side was "Sawdust Hamburgers and Dishwater Malts." It played on the radio three times. Now do you remember?

Message: This is in reference to John's question about the Beach Boys practicing in Ron Swallows Garage in 1969. I lived a few houses down from the Swallows on 123rd Street. I believe the last time the band used the garage to practice was the early to mid 60's. I remember Carl telling me that the band was getting ready to go to England for the first time and he was pretty excited about it. I recall seeing Carl or Dennis at the Swallows off and on for a few years after that but they never practiced in the garage again.
Thanks Kathy for that on the spot report, and now the BIG question......Are you and yours going to make Homecoming?? I've been counting the events so far and It's Gary 1 - Kathleen 0

Message: OK JB, What is it with adding my picture so often? I think everyone has the idea what I use to look like. I'd give anything if I still looked that good. I think the guys get better looking with age. If they are a little overweight thats OK. It doesn't look that bad on them. But us women, well thats a whole different story. I really hope and pray that at this point in our lives looks doesn't matter as much as it did in HS. Also the clicks. I remember being called names in school and to this day I can still remember the hurt it caused. I can even remember who said them. I've drilled it into my kids and now my grand kids not to judge people by how they look. Now if they act like a real jerk thats a whole different matter. One last thing, in 7th or 8th grade I had a friend named Debbie Cosby. She was short, not reg. short but really short. She lived on Oxford right next to the railroad tracks. When the trains came by, her whole house shook. Somehow she had Brian Wilson's phone number and we called him from her house. Maybe it was Carl or Dennis. But I remember him begging her not to give out his phone number. Debbie graduated with us in 69. It would be great if we could find her too. Thanks JB for wanting to show me off some, but lets hold off on the picture for awhile. OK?? I love you and all that you do for everyone here at CT.

Message: Back when I was at Hawthorne High School, there was an amateur radio club. Hawthorne High's amateur radio club was one of several at schools in the South Bay that formed a "net" which would relay football and basketball scores from one school to another (we didn't have cell phones then). Among the members of the club were Greg Nelson, Bill Perry, Steve Edgell, Adrian Reynolds, Marc Paswalk and myself. A person never knows what influence even a high school club can have on their lives. Several years after graduation from high school, I was preparing to go into teaching industrial education (shop class). While going to college I was invited to the wedding of Greg Nelson (66). At Greg's wedding I was talking to Bill Perry (66) who asked me, "Are you still interested in electronics?" I basically said, "yes". Bill got me an interview with the company where he was working. Having never used ICs, I took a crash course in TTL (the stuff that was in ICs, those things that look like multi legged bugs in your TV sets etc.) at an adult education center. I was hired and I spent about 6 years working there. From there I have continued in electronics and have enjoyed nearly every minute of it.
Chris, I've still got a mess of old TTL chips left over from the late 60's. Those 14 legged TTL bugs are dinosaurs now.

I've watched all the documentaries which are loaded with old home movies from Hawthorne. I like watching them; they remind me how similar teenaged life in bedroom communities was in the early 60's. I believe the early 60's to have been the zenith of modern American culture. Too bad it turned out so cheesy. Anyway...Cowabunga! Stay gold!!
