Message: My condolences to the family of Sally Fraser. I grew up on the same block with Sally and also knew her, and her family. My father and Sally's father were very good friends and went to school together. Both of our parents knew each other quite well. I believe my dad and Wally Fraser went to Inglewood High School together. Mary Ann Walton lived across the street from me and we played with movie star paper dolls. I think of you Mary Ann, and the fun we had when I see those in the antique stores (sh...).

Message: People were worried, John. I got a call this morning from a CTer wondering if you were all right. I went feedback and clicked onto add feedback and saw your note which eased our minds. You have a whole world out here that cares about you. I'm glad to hear that you were able to escape from the gang bangers. I haven't been to the wine country in years, but I whine all the time so I don't need to visit. Boo! Glad to have you back John.
Thanks very much Sharon, and do NOT despair. We are already planning next years Cougartown Wine Country Weekend. We'll keep you all posted.

Message: DON'T PAY THE RANSOM, CTERS!!! A roving band of Lomita gangbangers had me locked in the bathroom all weekend. I got away by kicking out the bathroom window. Well.....actually, I went to Sonoma this weekend with some good Cougar friends for the Vintage Car Races. I probably should have left a Feedback telling you all, but thought there wouldn't be any problems. When I got home, about an hour ago, there were about 7 messages, all wondering if I'd fallen and couldn't get up. Thank you all for being so concerned, and I really should have left a Feedback, but just didn't know you'd be that worried. We're all back to normal now and the Feedback page is open again so please add away.
By the way, thanks very much to Glenn Crist HHS64, Gordon Bell HHS62, Dave Homewood, and Mike Doyle for the great weekend in Sonoma and thanks to Mike and Glenn for the passes to the Vintage Car Races, the party in the Plaza and to Dave for providing all the Homewood Winery Port and for the lodging. We had a blast!!

Message: I saw someone mention Mr. Fitzgerald. I forgot all about him. But I remember him now. In Miss Findlaters class when I put my hand through the window and cut my first three fingers almost off I had to go to his office while I waited for my dad to come get me and take me to the doctors to get them sewn back on. My index finger was just hanging on. It was kind of cool. Scared the heck out of Miss Findlater. She was easily one of my favorite teachers of all time.
Hey Keith, If you remember Mr Fitzgerald, please send him a birthday email with your picture as he might not remember you.

They will always be a part of the Eastern European Treasures for Francisco and myself. I hope they check out this site. They won't be disappointed.

Message: We just got back from our trip to Southern CA, where we expected to see family and maybe meet up with Dennis Campbell. We left last Monday driving down 5 in 105 degree weather. It was way too hot to camp so spent the night in an A/C motel in Kettleman. My husband got a bee string that swelled up his knee and was very uncomfortable. Driving in our 1969 VW camper then became very uncomfortable to shift for him. We finally made Crestline on Tuesday. My son lives there and we where staying with him. The VW had a leaky gas line and we lost most of our $4.25 gallon gas, twice. Which my son fixed. We did get to take a walk around the lake on Tuesday afternoon and then woke up Wed to snow, rain, hail. Since we had only brought sandles, shorts and t-shirts, needless to say, we where not dressed for the weather. That night our dog got sick and ended up at the vets having surgery for 4 bladder stones. Ever camp with a dog in a cone. Lots of laughs. We spent the next 3 days in a small cabin with 6 teenage boys watching tv because it was raining, hailing, snowing outside. FUN!!!! Freezing, with a sick, cone head dog, and a bee sting knee, (the camper got fixed) we made our way to Laguna Beach to meet with a friend and see Dennis. That didn't happen and we then started home early to beat the holiday traffic. It was so cold going up 5 that we again needed to stay in a motel, because we only had clothes for the heat. Our motel room in Gorman had no lights, only cold water, and smelled. so glad to get out of there. We finally made our way back to San Mateo and our own bed and warm house. We will try again in July to meet up with friends when I am down there for the Long Beach Quilt show. We will make it this time Dennis.

Message: Mark the dates: September 12, 13, & 14. Hawthorne's own Brian Wilson will appear at the Hollywood Bowl, accompanied by his awesome band & the L.A. Philharmonic Orchestra, to offer up his latest musical effort, "That Lucky Old Sun," a combination of songs and narratives celebrating life in Southern California. The usual Beach Boy hits (w/ a few surprises) will bookend that presentation. A fireworks display will close each show. I managed to score backstage passes, so I'll be making that 565 mile drive down I-5. With gas prices the way they are, maybe I should check the airlines. - Gibby -
See you there, Gibby. Just got my ticket tonight.

Tix are 55, 65 & 75. www.hotaugustnights.net will provide you information regarding this annual event. It is fun and there are several free events available. Enjoy
Thanks Cheri, and before travelling to Reno for Hot August Nights, make SURE you have a place to stay before you go.
