Message: Circle May 23rd,2009 on your calendar because the Class of 1959 is having the best reunion ever. Checkout all the information on
COUGARTOWN'S REUNION BULLETIN BOARD. We want all the grads to attend, so break out your old address books and start looking for old friend's addresses. And don't count on someone else to send their address in. YOU DO IT. Make your plans, tell the kids you're going on a trip, get someone to watch the cat and dog, get out the photos of the family to bring along, start saving money for the gas to get here and come and join us. We don't care how fat or bald you are, cause guess what, some of us are fat and bald too, so you can't use that for an excuse. We just want to sit down and catch up with what's been happening the last 50 years. See ya there! Your 50th Reunion Committee

Message: OK, who wants to be the coolest Dude at the next Cruise Night? Well, I?m going to try and be, and you can too if you want. I found the Saint Anna Fire Department is auctioning off a 1966 Black Corvette with a 327 Cubic Inch engine and a four speed appraised at $36,000. It even has an AM/FM radio. The price is right at $5 for 3 tickets up to the special of $200 for 180. I have no connection with this group but I just thought I?d share a great deal for $5. At worst your money goes to a good cause. Good luck to you all (but better luck for me?hehe). Their site is at

Hawthorne High..home of the Cougars..the memories..I was in Hawaii last week surfing in Honolulu and listening to those old Beach Boys songs..WOW Well I remember friends that will live on in memories forever. The dances, the parties, the fights, the times......Reflections of what life was like "Back in the Day" Gas was cheaper, life was cleaner and the music was better....LOL Nice site and keep up the fine work on it...I missed the reunion. Actually Graduated from PV High in 78 and attended Hawthorne until 77 when my parents moved to PV...man I fought that. Anywho turned out semi-normal and working hard at my career and family. HASTA

Message: Max Roelen - about that Missile- My Father Bob Larson class of 1938 Los Angeles High School! Installed that Missile when he was working with STL (space technology laboratories)- I remember he had "burned" his bald head being outside for 3 days in the sun looking up at the crane all day- I think he begged my brother Eric to borrow one of his baseball caps- after the second day of solar torture- That was right across the street from old man Leuzinger's farm house-(later BALL industries) The missile was an actual "unit" that had been gutted, no working parts inside- Next time I call my Father in Redlands I will ask him more about it...

Message: Hi John, Been awhile since I last posted, hope all is well with you. As with allot of 62ers, I've reached the end of my career. On May 30th I retire after 40 years. My wife, Mari, and I will be moving back to our second home in Boulder City Nevada to start the next phase of our lives. I do this with great anticipation for the future and a more relaxed atmosphere. We'll be spending time with our son and daughter-in-law in California so maybe we can hookup and revisit old times. You might recall that I restored a 1955 Ford truck that I'm going to store at my son's house. Just maybe we can make it to a cruise night. You'll see us coming, its bright yellow. Take care John, hope to see you soon. Bryan

Message: John, I am so jazzed today I almost can't tell you, which is why I have to! I am trekking down to Anaheim to be a judge at the Anaheim Marriott at one of those big-time SCHOLASTIC JOURNALISM competitions, just like the ones in which so many of us competed under the tutelage and watchful eyes of Konnie Krislock while at HHS! What a full-circle moment! Of course, I already know that down there in the OC they will check me for my hepatitis vaccination when I try to cross the border as I am coming straight outta Inner City LA, but I think my papers and shots are up to date! John, I can't wait to see how journalism is practiced at the high school level today and to get my hands on an entry...Remember John I LOVE, YOU, MAAAAANNNN!!! and I will try to rep our alma mater with the requisite dignity it merits, to wit, not get as crazy as I remember we were at such conventions were when we were all far younger scribes. Peace and boat drinks, joseph...

Message: Last week I was in So Cal on a business trip (truck driver for the St of Calif), so I drove around the neighborhood in the Del Aire area and had the chance to see a fellow Cougar from Class of 74, Bruce Ailey. Hard to believe almost 20 years past since I last saw him. Also, What happened to the Air Force Base with the MD Rocket that stood in front for so long? It looked like a new gated housing compound replaced it. Til next time, have a fine Cougar day.

Coach has long been a favorite for guys from my class and we have stayed in touch at golf outings and parties. He was on his way to see his kids and two new grandsons. We have made plans to get together for pupus later this week.

Message: Had a Cougar hearing and writing the other day. Got an email from an old friend Eric Keus. He gave me his phone number and I called him. I haven't seen nor heard from Eric since 1976. We used to go snow and water skiing together all the time. He had my dream car, a lime green Ford Pinto. For some reason I always liked that car. He had the cassette player I ever saw. Not those huge 8-track players in his car. He was the best water skier I have seen. He was barefoot skiing way back then. Even took off barefoot. He married one of the Cougar honey's Martha Fischer and they are still married. He runs or works for Kingdom trucking along with former Cougars Larry King and John Stone of the infamous "Stone" family of Hawthorne. It was great talking to him and hopefully we are getting together next month.

Message: Hi folks, I was talking/writing to a ebay seller yesterday about a bid I lost and the bidding was a Northrup model airplane which is VERY RARE and he bought it in the 60's but sold for the price 40 times what he paid for it. I must tell you I am a late 1930's to early 70's model airplane collector. Well, We all know Jack Northrup was head of "Northrup Aircraft" in Hawthorne and this ebay seller tells me that his ex daughter-in-law was so and so Northrup (he didn't give me her first name). So, I was wondering...Did Mr Jack Northrup kids(or kid) attend Hawthorne or Leuzinger High? Be interesting to know since I never seen an Autobiography of Jack Northrup.
