Message: Leuzinger Alumni James Osborne '77 is running for Lawndale City Council. He has lived his entire life in Lawndale. His great-grandfather was one of Lawndale's first settlers and arrived in 1908. His daughter (James' grandmother) Helen Buss founded the Lawndale Library in 1913 and later became postmaster in 1918. She married Albert Thomas (James' grandfather) who, along with his brother opened Lawndale's first gas station about 1920. James still lives in the home his great-grandfather built in 1909 which is Lawndale's oldest home. James Osborne currently teaches at El Camino College part-time, and works full-time as the Superintendent of Parks for the City of Gardena. He currently serves as a member of Lawndale's Cable Television Commission. He is also a member of Lawndale's Youth Day Parade Committee. He organized and serves as a block captain for the Neighborhood Watch Committee. He wants to work towards improving Lawndale's infrastructure and parks. He also supports Proposition A on the Lawndale ballot which will authorize the city to utilize funds for the proposed community/senior center. He also has been active for years in fighting against the crime in the city, especially graffiti.*** Hawthorne High Cougars... we need your assistance! Please inform the registered voters of The City of Lawndale to vote for James Osborne on Election Day April 8th 2008. Thanks to John Baker and The Support of The HHS Alumni, your website will help place this candidate into this elected office so that he can make a difference in The Lawndale Community! ***
Good Luck, Jim

Message: Richard in Buenos Aires, No Eddie Carroll was on the Cardinals. I think he has a younger brother so it might have been him. The Cardnials also had Larry Rutter and Rick Fernandez, three great players. I was on the Optomidgets with Rocky Thomas, Robert Pettit, Tony Wilson, and Robert Ramirez. Thanks to Bill Sloey for instilling me with Opto pride. May the Opto be with you all.
Optos are with me too. Hawthorne American Little League Optos.

Message: Hello everyone, I've been reading past feedback pages, I'm in the year 2006 and I'd like to say to Dean Morris, Sportsmans field is still on 90th st. between Crenshaw bl. and Prairie ave. in Inglewood. You guy's beat Haw. american in 1966 not 65. Fast Eddie Carrol was not that fast I guess. Great game that day and a wonderful memory though. Ladera's field was in the oil fields off of La Cienega in the Baldwin Hills. To Kelly Currie, if you ever talk to Terry (The Duck) Smith, please tell her hello for me or give her my email. It's been a very long time since I have seen or talked to her. Be well everyone.

Message: Hi John, I agree name tags for Cruise Night would be great! Dan and I talked about that on our way home, wishing everyone had of had a name tag. Dan and Ernie had lots of fun talking about their days at A&W. Also on our way home we drove down Hawthorne Blvd. and could not remember what street A&W was on, can you help us out? All that way and my friend Sharon Moore Leach was a "No Show." Guess Dan and I will have to make the Picnic. Thanks for everything you do for all of us Cougars!
Hi Diane, Glad to meet you in person Saturday night. A&W was on 136th and Hawthorne right across from Wells Fargo (back then it was Pacific State Bank). I think there's an auto parts store where A&W was now. See you two at the Cougartown Picnic.

Message: 3 Topics for this weeks feedback,,,if things get a little dull... The 1969? (1) Teacher's Sick-IN ...(2) What Year Did the City place a Camera atop the water tower, and can anyone remember the Paranoia about "BIG BROTHER" and "THE EYE IN THE SKY", seems like there was feelings of invasions of privacy...Also, (3)can anyone recall the strong pungent aroma of Chlorine Vapors while entering and exiting the HHS Swimming pool, this probably applies only to boys since I think the filters & Pumps were over next to the Mens dressing area...To this very day, whenever I get a strong Wiff of Chlorine, the first thing I think of, is the school plunge and having to walk through that "odor" ever time I swam.
