Message: For those of you that have written feedback concerning Tim Thomas, I have sent emails this morning to Joy Bramlett and James Eder, the principoal and Vice principal in charge of athletics asking that they no longer allow #23 to be worn and a little information about Tim. Should this not be successful, I will be enlisting volunteers.
Thanks Jim, for the help....

Message: Anyone remember Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol which played for several years on TV starting in 1962? I found a copy and made of it an early Christmas present to myself. Sitting down and watching that old cartoon appeals to the 8-year old in me, causing me to slow down, treasure seasons past and enjoy the present; instead of getting caught up in and stressed out over all the commercialism, frantic shoppers, and bad traffic that make me want to say: "Bah! Humbug!". Now I have the grandkids addicted to Mr. Magoo. Merry Christmas John and Cougars, and may God bless us one and all. U-2 Divotchka!
Thanks Larry, Yes I remember the Magoo Christmas too. Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Message: How I hate to read headlines in the Daily Breeze like this, and then see HHS singled out for exceptional problems....what the #%$@ is going on there? Audit throws book at area schools By Paul Clinton, Staff Writer
Inspections required by state law found textbook shortages, deteriorating campuses and underqualified teachers at eight local campuses in Los Angeles Unified and Centinela Valley school districts. County auditors singled out Hawthorne High School's campus for special scorn, detailing the dirty fountains, rotting wood, leaky roof, exposed wiring and pervasive bird droppings in a 24-page memo released last week. Many of the restrooms were locked when the campus was inspected at a time when students were attending classes, records show.

Even though our boys did not win first place in the competition, they are deeply grateful to everyone who supported them by watching and voting. Sue, mom and I send HUGE hugs out to all of you! We are so blessed to have such wonderful friends! Regarding America's troops, I took a moment to send a card too. It's a small token but I sent a heartfelt message and hope to brighten a soldier's day. Merry Christmas to all of us, and a blessed and Happy New Year!!!
Hey Sharon, you and DMHO are welcome. I'm sure they'll be hearing from some record producer real soon. Thanks too for sending the card. You and the rest of the Branigan and Bierman clan have a Mahhhh-velous Christmas.

Message: Let's see, 1-99, isn't that enough numbers for any team's jerseys? The mighty Trojans have two number 10's this year, so if Hawthorne had to don two 22's or two 24's, they still wouldn't need a 23. And how many football squads have 99 players? What a crock...retired is retired...Maybe someday some Yankee player will wear number 3 again.......ah, yeah, right.
I agree totally, John. Maybe someone could step up and start a Tim Thomas "Retire 23" campaign.

Message: I knew Tim since he was a toddler. His loss affected so many Cougars and others. Using his number is a sacrilege. A new #23 should be put in a trophy case with his bio and an apology to all lettermen. Someone needs to take the time to get this done ASAP. Is there no tradition left at HHS?

Message: It's beginning to look alot like Christmas as Bing Crosby would sing although here in Southern California there is no snow to speak of (except on the mountain tops North of here) I've been told "Merry Christmas" by a few cashiers at various stores and I find that refreshing. The 'Happy Holiday' crowd hasn't taken over everyone's thinking...yet. So, MERRY CHRISTMAS to ALL you Cougars out there and may the NEW YEAR bring us peace and happiness. Thank you, John!
Hey Jim, Thanks very much and to you, my friend, MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

Hey Billy boy, Merry Christmas to you and may we keep this thing going for another 50 years or so (Ok, maybe 20).

Message: Great to see this. A friend contacted me about it and I had to find it. Just the memories, I lived on 136th street just between the A&W and the cheapest gas in town the Winall Station at 136th and Inglewood Ave. In fact I worked at that station for a while. During my school years I worked on the 4/4 plan at Mc Mahon's of California Warehouse directly across from the pool along the Rail Road tracks. Was on the Campus when the Tornado hit the Pool's Heater and we had to swim part of the year without the heater. Nice to see this, keep up the good work.
Hey Mike, Thanks for the memories and for finding us and if you attended HHS, add yourself to our Info List.

Message: I just read Liz feedback and it inspired me that I went on to the Xerox link to send a Card to our soldier. I guess from what I heard on the news(cant send cards to "Any Soldier") and I'm not sure why. I guess the fear of what ever fear they have, they just taking precautions(the military). Anyway...thanks Liz...because I do care about our troops. Interesting story about the retiring Football Jersey #23. Was there any others at HHS(as well as in other sports?).

Message: Regarding Tim Thomas..... I grew up on the same block as Tim from the time I was nine until he was killed. He and my brother Skip were best friends. I've got a few "Tim" stories too, but regarding the retiring of "23", it lasted only a couple years. By the time I got back from Vietnam and acclamated to normal life, I found out the number was re-issued. I asked the very same question and was told that the numbers were needed for the rostered players. I think I asked Otto Plum about it. He understood the retiring of the number, but said the program needed the numbers for kids playing. Sentiment doesn't last long sometimes.....
