Message: Ken Sawdon - I don't know you but it seems our life stories are the exact opposite of one another. You grew up in Hawthorne and ended up in Starbuck, Minnesota. I grew up in Lowry (7 miles from Starbuck, pop. 300) and ended up living in the South Bay and going to Hawthorne High. How are the walleyes biting on Lake Minnewaska?

His pointing me in this direction has truly changed my life and I am grateful. So much so that I have occasionally paid for a CT year's membership for him. Message: I've missed all of the reunions for one reason or another but my home has always been Hawthorne. I brought my two sons back to Cally last year so they could see where they were born and were I grew up. What a change! Would love to hear from anyone who remembers me. I was one of the littlest guys in the graduation class along with Harry Phillips and Ned Schmidts. It took a trip to Nam to get me to my fighten size of 6' and 200 lbs

Message: Hi, I teach at Fremont High and came upon your site a few years back...I finally assigned my students to retrieve a soldier's bio from your Vietnam page. They are going to bring them to school by Wednesday, I will make transparencies and they will share them with the class, as well as their thoughts. I really commend you on this site and hope one day that California can provide the type of truly well rounded education that you received at Hawthorne High.

Message: Ok sorry I won't make the meeting tommorrow. It is marching Season for my Son's High School band. So they will be in the La Palma Parade.They are practicing for Ireland in March 08.They are so lucky they will be in Dublin for Saint Patrick's day. The best trip I went on in High School was down to San Diego with Mrs. Duffy & the girls Tennis team.That was a cool Tennis Camp. All those Girls plus I got to play Tennis ! Ah the Memories! Everyone have a great weekend. Route for USC tommorrow. It will be a tough Game against CAL.
I had a friend who went to Ireland on St. Patty's Day ready to party his head off. He went to the local Pub where nothing was going on at all. He asked where all the St Patty's Day parties were and some guy told him, "Hell Boy, that's an American holiday"

I never even added the 2 and 2 together and I know both of em but never knew they were related. Bonnie and I had a class together(was it German...I'm sure it was)and she was so HOT and funny so I am glad to know her. Merril...I enjoy our "short" friendship we had in football. I felt you were a really descent guy. I always wonder how you been doing all these years. Now...I need to rest my's still "boggling"!

Folks, if you live anywhere near the Agoura Hills area, I wanted to let you know that Which One's Pink? is playing a benefit concert (along with other bands and Kevin Cronin from REO Speedwagon) at the Canyon Club this Sunday night (hosted by Rick Dees) with the proceeds going to the family of LAPD officer Mike Selleh who was killed in a tragic accident in July. Message: I wanted to pass on George Gross's obituary and to thank everyone for their prayers during this difficult time. He will be missed deeply. Please remember to keep Carol in your prayers.

GEORGE GROSS George Kenneth Gross, 60, was unexpectedly called home by Jesus Oct. 25, 2007. He was born in Los Angeles Aug. 5, 1947. George was greatly loved by all who knew him and he loved all he knew. He will be greatly missed.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. George had been a resident of Nevada since 1980. He was a master electrician and employed by the City of Henderson for the past 11 years. He was also a Realtor with Century 21. George was a parishioner of St. Thomas Moore Catholic Church, where he was very active in the Catholic community. He is survived by his wife, of 37 years, Carol; two children, Jason Gross and Mary Ann (Mike) Contreras; and two grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers, Arthur Gross and Dennis Gross, both of California, and Robert Gross of Virginia. The Benevolent Account for George Gross has been set up at Wells Fargo Bank, account #3953067218.
