Message: Just received a postcard from the Ol' Coach today and thought I'd share it with you all.
Aloha Mr. Cougar, Cathy and I are in Maui celebrating our August birthdays and our BIG "60" Anniversary - Cathy deserves a medal. I'm so old now that when I go to a restaurant to eat dinner they make me pay up front. Things are expensive here too. It costs 35 cents to change a quarter. At some of the swank hotels you have to wear a tie to go to the pool. Guests have to use the service entrance.
See where HHS got beat 45-0 by Compton - makes Cap and me sick. Had dinner here with Gary Kimbrell, one of our former players. Great coach too!

Message: What a great weekend. Yesterday, (Sat), I went to a 40th wedding anniversary celebration for 1959's HHS Victory Queen-Patty Smith. There were ten Smith kids and seven were there. 1960, Phyllis (says hi to Rich Sloan), 1962, Sheila, 1969, Cheryl and her husband, also '69, Gordon Oransky. The other kids didn't go to HHS as the freeway took their house, and ours, in 1971. Great to see them all after 30 years!!!!!! And today, at the car show I had my first Cougar sighting. Carl Johnson (1969), walked up to me and said hello. Haven't seen him since graduation!!!!! Looked for you JB, did I miss ya somehow?????

Message: Being reminded of car record players, John Stillwell, c/o 63, had one in his 56 Ford Crown Victoria. He would hang a piece of black cloth over it in order to cancel it. This Tues. Brenda and I got blown out of the building by Mr. Dick Dale. His music brings back memories of So. Cal. and Hawthorne in particular. He just turned 70 years old and still plays with more energy than you can believe. Again thanks John for this place.
