Message: It is times and places like this that makes the meaning of being an American foremost is one's mind. No matter where you are in the world, you can always find a gang of proud Americans to reflect with. When I was a kid, my family went to a park in Inglewood every 4th to watch fireworks. For the life of me, I cannot remember the name of that park...any help out there. I hope everyone had a great day and wish to thank you all for giving me daily reconnects to a time in my life I really cherish. Sincerely, Bill

Message: Happy firecracker day. I can't believe that we are on the downhill slide to the first thousand pages of feedback. And while there is a cruise night planned, I truly hope that more might be planned for that auspicious occasion. Can't we put together a three day celebration, picnic or something close. I'm in No. Cal but would be willing to put forth organizational skills, blood, sweat and tears toward such a monumental bash. Come on Cougartown, lets rise to the occasion and truly make this a century grand time.

Message: I want to wish everyone a safe and fun 4th. As for us, we will be in a parade in Anaheim Hills on our Segways with a group of Segway enthusiasts. We'll be all decorated in red, white and blue. If you are in the area, come on out and see the parade. It starts at Canyon High and ends at Peralta Park in Anaheim Hills where there will be food booths and fireworks after the parade.

Message: Well, I had a Leuzinger sighting today. I was eating lunch in Fountain Valley and I heard a couple across the isle mention Leuzinger, Hawthorne and Torrance. I just had to ask. They went to Leuzinger and graduated in 1952. The lady -I didn't get their names - lived 2 blocks from me for a while then moved to Grevillea. I wish we could have talked more. Very nice people, I told them to check out Cougartown. She said if she would have been able, she would have liked to have gone to Hawthorne High. It just didn't open early enough for her.

Message: Want to add my thanks for the work you do to keep this great site going for all of us. Would love to see more "oldsters" check in. I am late with my dues but promise they are on their way. Had a chance this summer to re-connect with some HHS classmates and also attend the LHS reunion. What a blast we had there.........would you believe some of us from Hawthorne Intermediate were able to get together there and catch up with each other's lives!! Such a good time. I have heard from some of them they too enjoy our site and that you have done such a good job they are looking at it as an example for improving theirs! One thing I, along with others, would thoroughly enjoy, should it ever become possible, is viewing the senior pictures from our old yearbooks......relating then to who it is we are now talking to!! and recognizing who they are when we see these "old" people!!! LOL Have a Happy and safe 4th and thanks again........ Joanne

Message: As I recall, most fireworks sold were basically from the same company. As kids, we used to rate "Red Devil" as best (fewer duds) with "Freedom Fireworks" as second. The worst was "Black Panther Fireworks" since they had the most duds. "Black Panther's" name was changed in the late 1960s to "Wildcat Fireworks" due to a, ahem, well-known radical group of the same name.

Message: I find it interesting that firecrackers are legal here and they even sell them in grocery stores and places. The strings they sell here of up to 50,000 firecrackers. People hang the strings from trees and lite the firecrackers. It takes like 5 minutes for all of them to blow. It sounds like a machine gun. And the mess is unreal. Usually the next morning all of Waikiki is covered with smoke. I heard Waikiki has the 4 or 5th largest fireworks show in the country. Happy 4th

Message: Happy Tuesday All......I had a "planned" Cougar siting. (Planned on my part.) My husband and I were driving to our property in Elsinore, Utah and we pass right through Baker, NV. That is where Roberta (Caldwell) Moore HHS67 lives and works as a Forest Ranger. We lived 2 houses apart on 122nd Street in Hawthorne since we were small kids, and until I moved in 1965. We had not seen each other in 42 years. So I walked up to her and tapped her on the shoulder and asked her if Fury could come out and play? That was her German Shepherd when we were kids. She looked at me for a minute and said "Janis?????" I think after that we hugged for 20 minutes. It was unfortunately a short visit as we had to get on the road, but it was the first of many. It was awesome!!! Happy 4th to all!! Jan
Steve, seeing you back on Feedback made my week. We all missed you so much. Keep up the good work, and send pics of your first dance at the reunion. HUGS!!

Message: Safe and sane fireworks are still legal in most of the Sacramento area. We have many Red Devil stands open right now to prove it. But some groups, especially churches and such do not like using the Red Devil brand. So the same company offers fireworks branded TNT and Freedom too. We have all three represented but they are really all the same thing. I hope everyone?s Fourth is safe, sane, and happy. Happy Birthday America.

Message: Yo John Baker-The last ten years and your dream to connect us all up on the world wide web has been fantastic. Hats off to you John and your success with Cougartown. I'm late regarding my first job at ten years old which was pushing a small ice cream cart for Bunny Lou out in Inglewood and Lennox on Saturdays. Weekdays after school I sold the Inglewood Daily News at the defense plants on Aviation and Imperial making a whole 3 cents per paper. Currently I am working with Ned Mansour who was the president of Mattel for many years up until 2000. He retired and wrote a book called "Divided Roads" and I adapted the story into a motion picture screenplay. Check out our project together on the web site at
dividedroads.com. Its a fun filled serious movie that will definitely move the human spirit regardless of your age. Alan
