Message: A question. I was just recently at a party at a doctors house here in Kona. We were talking about something and The Little Rascals come up. If I remember right he said one of the cast lived up the street in a private estate. His first name was Larry if I remember. I told him about Mr. Fix. I still don't remember the connection. Was Mr. Fix on that show or another one like it. And what was his name. I am pretty sure we have gone over this but I have a feeling I made a mistake by telling him one of our teachers in my high school was a Little Rascal.
Hey Keith, I talked to Danny Fix about his acting days in 1998. He said he wasn't one of the Little Rascals group, but was in a similar group that came before the Little Rascals. Don't know what his name was, but maybe someone else does.

Message: John, Forget looking at those prices look at the comment in the the upper right hand corner next to the little elf looking guy, this ad would most likely bring a boycott to that market in todays climate, this was the 40's no doubt. I can't figure out what it says above the word "WASTE" ?
Hey Steven, It says "Let's lick a Jap with your waste fat". Most likely you turned in your lard, bacon grease, etc to some outlet to somehow help the war effort. Remember, this was WAY before political correctness.

Message: Well it's been awhile since I've posted on Cougartown, but I'm always checkin' in! I go to the alumni list to see who's new signin' in, then read current feedback, but tonite I checked the tributes page and that's where it's like goin down memory lane, that's where you can re-read those who've left and yet still leave a lasting impression on us. A part of our past that nobody can take away. It actually fills my heart to see the pictures and the tributes that have been posted there. I'm so glad to read from alumni who've taken the time to write a small tribute to old friends. I just got back from playing softball, then out to have a few drinks with team mates and am feelin' abit sentimental but where else can I go and pour my feelings out. I just hope I don't check in tomorrow and see what a blubbering fool I was. We're planning a get together for a few 'ol classmates in May and can't wait to see everyone! I love ya John (maaaan), you know that, thanx for all you do!!!
Well thank you Michelle for the nice words, and no, you're not blubbering. The Tributes Page is very popular and too humbling. Lots of memorials from loving classmates and family there. If you haven't seen the page in awhile, please check it out.

1942 was a couple of years before my time. It says Roths Market AND Food Terminal. Maybe it was a Food Terminal in that location? Sorry, I don't have the answer.

Message: Paid $2.69 in this small town for 87 today. Was $2.19-$2.29 earlier in the week. The gas thugs've just gotta gouge the spring break travelers here. Wal Mart's the worst! Can you believe it snowed in Fayetteville yesterday? I had to cover all my spring plants and herbs today - hard freezes throughout the weekend. Go Figure. Easter blessings to all.
Thanks Mary Ann. Happy Easter to you too.

Message: Fuel prices are interesting. Supply and demand or a captive audience (i.e. Hawaii) We have been on the road since Feb 24th (Taking 6 weeks off and went to Phoenix to watch a few Spring Training games. Currently in Coos Bay, Oregon on the way home)We have been living in a 39' diesel pusher motorhome, towing a Jeep Cherokee. Fuel at times is cheaper by the gallon for the motorhome than the Jeep. I believe the highest we paid was $3.15 for diesel. We saw plain old regular unleaded for $3.75 someplace on Hwy 395 in Calif. last week. Curious about fuel prices around the states/Canada? Check out www.gasbuddy.com.
Hey Cheri, Thanks for the info....

87 was $3.14 at Costco yesterday.

Message: In regards to whether the gas prices are going to drop or not; it's not the Gas Companies that are greedy. Its the politicians that the Gas Companies represent who are the greedy ones. The ones that want to keep our troops fighting in the middle east, that raise the prices of our gas. Everytime we hear that the troops may be coming home, the prices in gas seem to go down. But when our leaders want to keep our troops there, "to police" the situation, or send more troops in to defend the rights of the newly formed government, the prices go back up. I dont think we will ever see gas prices fall below $1.00. but, I do think that the grade of 87 wont be higher than $1.75 and the grade of 89 wont fall any lower than $1.95, when situations subside. It's just one persons opinion. But, the way the prices are now, it's hard to get to school and back home everyweek, on a teachers salary.

Message: Hey John...That Gas sign at "less than a buck" will probably go down in history...When I was back in Missouri last year around September, gas there was $1.95! That was the "best price" we saw going across country and back. Do you think it will ever go back down to under a dollar again? I don't think so! Gas Companies are way too greedy! Kind-of takes the fun out of crusin' doesn't it?....I wonder what it would cost now days to cruise from the A&W up to The Wichstand, and back and forth for half the night like we used to do in the "Days"...Papa had better have a good paying job at Douglas or someplace...or we "all" might be awalkin'!!!...David
Hey Dave, That's for sure. The way we drove, we got about 5 miles to the gallon and it was a 16 mile round trip. We did at least 50 miles a night. At 30 cents a gallon, that's 3 dollars. Today would be 10 times that. Glad I grew up in the 60s.
