Message: The HHSAA (Hawthorne High School Alumni Association) held a very informative meeting last Saturday, 3/24/07. Principal Joy Bramlette visited and gave a very interesting overview of the recent "unrest" at the school, among other things. She is a warm, wonderful and inspiring leader and we should all join in to help her make HHS a great experience for today's students! We invite all Cougartowners to visit the What's New page and stay current on the meeting events by reading the minutes. All are invited to join the HHSAA! We have lots of great ideas and ways to help HHS improve the student experience and it won't cost you a dime! Please consider signing up your Target cards and your Vons cards to support the programs that Principal Joy Bramlette and the HHSAA are planning. Details on how to join will be posted soon, or you can email me directly (after April 9) for step by step instructions. We're also looking into signing up Albertsons and Ralphs shoppers. Please join us for the next meeting May 19, noon at HHS. We'd love to see you there!

Message: Mary Ann, I wish your prophesy had come true. I love my Bruins. But actually felt they couldn't stay with FLA.They would have had to play a perfct game with 50% 3's and outrebound them, which they did neither. But I actually thought G-Town would beat OSU. Wrong again. Oh well, gotta love March Madness. I was actually hoping for an all PAC 10 final.Such is life.MAY THE COUGAR BE WITH YOU. Jake N Jude.P.S. Jude wants to know if you're coming to Catalina in May. We would love to see ya again.

Message: You GO Konnie! It was because of you I got my start in journalism. After high school I went on to write television news and to become Managing Editor of a newspaper and a magazine. Later, I used those skills in the world of advertising and public relations. Thanks to Konnie for instilling the love of writing into her students! I'm living proof that learning the basics at an early age works!

Message: Hey, Jake - get ready for some REAL basketball!!! The UCLA-Florida matchup will probably be better than the final Monday night. Georgetown vs. Ohio State's been soooooo boring - could careless about who wins ... don't think either one can beat the Bruins or Gators. Good tournament.

Message: Dan, I love the Sagebrush Cantina. Used to go every Sunday. They definitely know how to party at that place. My friend almost got shot there in the parking lot. Luckily though a good solid piece of wood across the head with one of my patented home run swings convinced him to sleep it off till the cops came. I may come to the 77' reunion. My two buddies Kurt Morlock and Greg Staffon are going so I may try to make it.

Message: I am really looking forward to the 66-67 reunion. I was not a graduate of HHS, my family moved to Arizona in 65. I did spend all my prior years going to Wiseburn schools. If we had not moved, I would have graduated from there in 67. My brother graduated from there in 59 or was it 58. In my heart and soul HHS is my High School! Anyway I am hoping someone brings their year book(s) to the reunion. I am especially hoping for the 63 (the year I attended) and the 67 year books. I would love to be able to rent them for a good price (say $100 for each) so I could scan them into my computer and return them in good condition.

Message: We know the Stone family. Our daughter grew up with most of them and Jennifer Stone is from the class of 89 with our daughter. I think the Stone family has the largest amount of brother's and Sister's who attended HHS. I know you gave me credit of having 38 years which is true, but if you want to really get the truth, Larry was from the class of 60 and our daughter Darla was the class of 1989 and our son Eric was from 2000 that was a span of 40 years. I see some are counting from when they first started school at HHS, then that would be 44 year span. Always a COUG

Message: FOUND RING FROM CLASS OF 1969. I have been going through a box of things from my parents house. I found a high school class ring with the initials BJC or it could be Bd(musical note)C. The face of the ring is worn down. It is a small size so I am thinking a female's ring. I am not sure where or when my Mom or Dad found this ring. If no one claims it from HHS I will then search the Escondido area. Thanks for helping me. Lisa

Message: Ok John, If we are using relatives that attended Hawthorne High School, like Robert Poorman has, I would have to say that the Greasby, Whitaker, Bradford contingency would be one of the long runners for continual students. My uncle, Richard Whitaker, was the first 4yr. graduating class of Hawthorne High (54), brother Wade attended (69), 3 more Greasby's attended (70's), 2 Bradfords (80's), and the last graduated,(Jaymie Bradford), class of 90. Does that count?

Message: It was great to see Konnie Krislocks post on feedback. I think it's wonderful that she has gone back to teaching, lucky students! My best time at HHS was being part of Cougar Staff! I use to do feature writing for the paper from my sophmore year until my Senior year. Now to pimp upcoming Cougar events! We are getting a good response to the tournament, a lot of return players and a few new ones, but we still have plenty of room for more. I have also received a spurt of rsvp's from the class of 77 reunion. A lot of you have received recently an invite, please RSVP as soon as you can, you do not need to send in money right away, but I would like to know if you are coming! One last thing, some people have asked if we are planning to get together at Gataneo's for our pre-tournament party Friday night, yes we are! So even if you aren't doing the tournament, please come Friday night, I hear it's a good time, and I'm planning to go too. Take care all!
