Message: Bake , Mary Ann and all. You just can't realize what a step up this is for Mid-Majors Colleges, in this country with this victory. And John I can't put any other game close to this, or the 70 Nebraska, O.U. game except ,SC, UCLA game of 68 or 69. The infamous 66 yard run form the killer!!! But Gary Beban wins the Heisman. Etc, Etc, Etc. Hey it's a step. Kind of like I told you three years ago Bake when BSU played against L'Ville. They didn't win that game. I told ya they'd be back ! Little Engine that DDIIDD!! HooYaH!! MAY THE COUGAR BE WITH YOU.Jake N Jude.

Message: John my son asked me how I could root for "USC", when I hate their buns as bad as i do? And, I said because they're playing a team east of Hawthorne, except Boise.:-)). Hey Bake was that a nail biter or what? I'm glad I took off today. I would have had a sick day one way or the other, I would have had an episode like Red Foxx as in "I'm having the big ONE"". What a classic! Any Pac TEN team that wins against someone east of the IDAHO line is cool. MAY THE COUGAR BE WITH YOU!!!

Message: Sue , all I know about the blue field is that my kids all have a piece of it. "A real Piece". Connections to get that, had to be people close to the field. Long story. Our Son got to play the very first game on the original blue turf back in the 80's in High School, before the college game, as alot of our local HS teams played at Bronco Stadium back then. As far as being "blue" it came from a whim from the athletic director and maybe the coach. Hey our colors are Blue and Orange! Lets put Blue turf down. The crazy stories started from the sages at psen. Corssett, KerbHrbstreee or one of those other brilliant sages

Message: WOW 2007!! Can't believe I made it this far! HAPPY NEW YEAR everyone on Ctown. For once I was able to watch most of the Bowl Games this year and I'm so glad I did. What a fun time watching the underdogs win with such outstanding plays. I haven't had this much fun since high school football seasons. And as always, thanks to JB for another outstanding year with Cougartown. This is the best thing ever invented since door knobs!! We love ya, MAAAAAN. KK
Hey Karen, thanks a bunch and Happy New Year to you too.

Message: JB, I realize this is not Cougartown Noise. But my son asked me why I would be rooting for sc and I said it was Michigan and east of IDAHO sucks and he said dad you're a Bruin fan. I set my son down( he weighs 290) and said the Bruins did their work for the year, it's done for the year:-)) Go Trojans. Great victory against Michigan. Especially since my sister in law lives in Mich! Long story. But then we have the Fiesta Bowl. One for the memories. THE "LITTLE ENGINE THAT COULD, did it, MADE THE TOP OF THE HILL!! Great football game. One of the best heart pounders you'll ever see in the annals of college football. We had three ER runs in 20 mins at my daughters house 4 people over 50 YRS OLD watching the game. Unbelievable!! Two fourth quarter completions for touchdowns? Back come the ER's, Get outa here. Ya know there was a ton of luck and a lot of skill. Adrian Peterson 19 carries "77" yds. Ian Johnson 21 carries, 103 yds. BOISE STATE (who wasn't supposed to be there, according to LICK Herbstiff of ESpNevver never gives CREDIT, I say never.. Never said a good word about a Mid-Major since his Mom was a step child! Herb, dirtsreet, eat some worms. Dirty Idaho night Crawlers!!! Catfishin CRAWLERS. Give the "little guy some respect"! CONGRATULATIONS BOISE STATE! Been 10 yrs(1A) building a program and got lots to go to be a tradition. To beat Mighty O.U. a classic! Go Little Blue ( Mich is still big Blue). Lookout Big blue, we might show up on your doorstep. And I guess the real time deal would be BSU and SC!! We are not quite ready, but don't underestimate the fight in the dog. Boy what a fun weekend of college football. MAY THE COUGAR BE WITH YOU! Jake N Jude N The Broncos Too. Hoo Rah!!!!!
Great game, Jake. Almost turned it off when it was 4th and 15 with 9 seconds to go. Gotta say there's still room in college football for the "hook and ladder" and the "statue of liberty".

Message: Happy New Year All! Congratulations to the Broncos from Boise State for the most inspirational victory of this season over the OSU Sooners. They played with heart, inspiration and pulled out all stops to beat the big boys from the Big 12 in a game they were not supposed to win. Made me realize why I like amateur sports so much better than the pros-- games like these don't happen in the NFL. Condolences to the entire Greasby clan for the hard loss, offset only by how great our Cougar Alums in Idaho must be feeling right now!

Message: Got to hand it to Boise State! What a "GREAT" FOOTBALL GAME. The Greasby's will be in mourning, along with the Sloey's. Expect the unexpected! Congradulations to the BSU fans out there. The Coach pulled no punches and used all his artillery(or trickery). Co-Champs, along with the Buckeyes, if The OHIO STATE University wins next weekend, in the same venue. Happy New Year to y'all.
I agree, best College game I've seen since OU/Nebraska 1970.

Message: Happy New Year everyone! I know the USC fans are thrilled but not as thrilled as we were watching Texas Tech pull out a miracle in Phoenix! But I do have a Hawthorne twist to that road trip...while driving to the game we were listening to a Jim Croce CD I got hubby for Christmas. The song "Lover's Cross" came on and I flashbacked to an afternoon at Hawthorne Intermediate. I can't recall if it was a talent show or maybe the HHS Choir visiting but I remember Carol (I believe her last name was Smeltzer..or something like that) playing guitar and singing that song on the stairs of the stage in the cafeteria. Funny how things just pop into your mind. Keep up the wonderfully passionate work you do for all of us JB....Let friendships begun stay true to the end!
There you go, Laura. Thanks for the story and have a Happy New Year.

Message: Well the sun is setting on the first day of the new year. Where does the time go? Happy New Year to one and all. Just remember to write 2007 on your correspondence and checks. We watched Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin Eve. When I was young it was Guy Lombardo. Boy have things changed. Dick Clark was much improved this year and looking pretty good for an old guy.
Hey Marilyn, I made it to 10pm and it was off to bed before the fireworks started. I can remember when we didn't leave the house until 10pm. Happy New Year....

Message: First, a VERY HAPPPPPY NEW YEAR to all Cougartowners. If you have had GREAT fun this New Years Eve and New Years, you must email me and tell me about it. I've had a nasty cold and it sent me to bed at 8:00 last night with my dog! Secondly, to Sue: Boise's football field reflects their colors; blue field, orange end zones ... they wanted to be different. Guess they succeeded. I don't think it's attractive either! And to Jerry Miles: What an outstanding and entertaining addition to CougarTown ... your very clever slide shows. I have enjoyed them over and over again. Thank you for your labor of love on them. And last but FAR FROM LEAST, to our own JB: As Jake says, "LOVE YA MAAAAAAN"! And a huge thank you for all the entertainment, memories and labor of love you have GIVEN to ALL OF US! We are so lucky to have you and so fortunate to have Cougartown. Did I say thank you? Hugs on you John!
OH BY THE WAY SUE! Say "hi" to Ann for me. She and I go waaaay back, to the days when Hawthorne really was HAYtown! Ha!
Hey Doris, Thanks a bunch and I wouldn't do it if it wasn't a total blast (60s term there). Happy New Year to you too and "May the Cougar be with you."

Message: Just punched out from doing a bit of overtime at Santa's workshop. Work is getting harder and harder there. Kids toys are so complex these days. Everything is electronic. Todays young'uns won't experience the exhilaration of finding a 500 piece jigsaw puzzle (of Roy Rogers, Dale Evans, Pat Brady and Nelly Belle), a chemistry set (by Hasbro), or a Mr Potato Head in their stocking-- unless old Spud is talking on a cell phone. I did notice that Santa and Sloey (Jim) look a lot alike, and Jim has been absent from C-town as of late? Makes me wonder?? I know where he is right now though. The Huskers and Auburn are locked at 14 (halftime). My new years resolution is to be the first to wish King John a happy birthday, and to thank him for the wonderous opportunity to communicate with the past, present and future that he has provided through Cougartown. It did backfire on me once though. Mrs. Rhodes, HHS Librarian, contacted me (through C-town) and wanted to know where the medical book (with the pictures of elephantiasis victims) that I checked out in fall '66 was. She wasn't mad, mearly miffed. I owe $2,734.35 in library fines. She won't take baseball cards in trade. Oh, well -- hope everybody has a great year (again).
Hey Jim, Thanks for the "62 and one third" BD wishes although you are 4 days late. Funny that you should bring it up, but I just finished my 1954 Nellie Belle jig saw puzzle on Friday (all that gray made it mighty tough). Happy New Year and I think a CD is owed you, isn't it? I'll work on that.

Message: Just a quick note to wish everyone a Happy and Great New Year. Doesn't it seem like 2006 just started? My newest grandaughter was born in July, number 21! My youngest son and family moved up from San Diego, so it's only 45 min to an hour drive to see them now! We celebrated my parents 65th anniversary (Nov 30) with a party yesterday. My brother Randy Moffett and his wife Dawn (Koch) made grandparent status, had their first grandson in Oct. He was born in England where his dad is attending school and they came home for the holidays. It is fun to call my bro "grandpa". He is now officially part of the "old" crowd. Well it was a busy year and I hope a good one for everyone. May you all be blessed with good health, good fortune and lots of fun in 2007! See you at the CTown get togethers. Nancy
Hi Nancy, Thanks for the shout on the family. See you at the next Cruise Night maybe, and have a Happy New Year.
