Yeah, I say if you gotta kid that wants something pierced. Tell him or her it's all right with you, BUT he or she HAS to do the deed themself. Anyone can go to a pro and have it done. Get out the compressor and the Nail Gun......Drive that 16 Penny through your Tongue. That takes some REAL GRAPES boy!!! The other way is like getting your 3 year old daughter's ear pierced. BIG DEAL!!! Get out the Ram Set and "Stud UP" those Nipples. Let's see if you've got ANY "Rooster Cogburn" coursin' through those veins AT ALL!!!
Oh Christine, you don't happen to have a copy of "The Sea Of Love" stuffed in your hope chest do you??

Message: Wow! Stay away from Cougartown for a few weeks and it takes a few weeks to catch up!
Laura Geele: You are a crack up! I love reading your posts!
Gee, only 7 of the class of '76 have NOT checked in? We are a force to be reckoned with, eh class?
Beth T: Does Marla Manriquez have e-mail? My dad coached her in little league. Figures she'd be playing pro-something. My husband's cousin's wife (yikes, sounds like LeeRoy talkin') also played pro-volleyball and is now the women's volleyball coach at Pepperdine (Nina Matthies -- at least I think she still is).
Sharon B: remember in York school when you, me, Suzie Smeltzer, and Aaron Bonnet got into a fight in the crosswalk to the school? We used to always pair up when we were mad at each other. I can't remember which pairing it was that time but someone pulled someone else's hair and well, you know how it goes from there. Were you in our cabin at 6th grade camp? We were in Sherman Lodge (I only remember that because I still have the piece of wood with the name burnt into it with a magnifying glass!).
I sure wish I could be at Fosters when everyone else is there but I'm only going to be close enough to be there on Sat 7/24 (until Fri 7/30) and then I'm at my cousin's wedding in San Diego! Golblastdangit!
Hey Jay Sheeley! Are you still working at Northrop? Or Northrop-Grumman to be exact! Say hi to your sister Joann from me! Where the heck is she these days anyway?
Hey Chris Penny! You are still a goofball!
And John Baker (saving the best for last!): I made out my $10 check the very same day all the talk started about it. I was doing bills at the time and honestly thought it went out with them. Well, whaddya know, I found it sitting on my computer a few days later and guess what? I STILL haven't mailed it! But it's on the way ... I promissssssse. Oh and one last thing .... I noticed you were posting graduation pictures of the class of '76 ... well, um, don't go looking for mine, like, okay? I sorta kinda well um ... shhhh ... moved out of the house at 17 with my boyfriend (now my husband of 20 yrs! Married him 4 yrs after moving out with him. Hey, it was the 70's man!) ... so I kinda sorta well um ... didn't uhhh pick up that little diploma in 1976. So if you use one at all for me from high school, be kind and use the one from freshman year since I'd rather be remembered as a fresh-faced kid than how bad I think those other pics look! And I'd LOVE to see current pictures of everyone ... c'mon guys, get out there and get those pictures scanned. You can get pictures put on disk at lots of places. Just do it!
Cindy girl, Where have you been?? Haven't heard from you since page 71. Gotta check in more than that, as it's a Cougartown Rule.
You don't have a copy of "Theme from a Summer Place" by Percy Faith lying around do you?? No prob', I'll find them somewhere. Thanks for checking in.

Frank, you truely have the right outlook, not sweating the little things...We all could use a little of that wisdom.
Myrna, Ive driven I-5 from Eugene to Hawthorne and back 50 times but Harris Ranch is the only place in the 920 miles that I need a gas mask to get through...love those cattle..maybe coffee at Willows..:o)

Message: Beth, thanks for reminding me of some great fourth grade memories. You and your siblings are to be commended for enlivening the Feedback page. (Where would we be without the T, V and B clans?) Me? I am in the middle of many changes. First, my wife Tara is pregnant and the baby is due next week! This will be our second child -- our son Michael is almost five years old -- so I am already an old hand at diaper and bottle duty. Also, Tara and I will be moving soon to the heart of California's wine country: we have just bought a lovely house in Napa. (Closing costs -- OUCH!) Of course, I am determined to adapt to my new surroundings. One of my resolutions for the next year is to drink more wine. (Finally, a resolution that I stand a good chance of achieving!) This will be a major change for me after so many years in Palo Alto, but an even bigger one for my wife. Before she met me, Tara lived in New York City, working in the field of modern dance and choreography. She thought Palo Alto was a small town, but now -- just as she has adapted -- we are off to Napa. Think of me whenever you sip on a glass of cabernet!

Message: JB, this might be a little long, but a story of how a little place called FROSTYS could have an impact on so many lives, including our own. we would love to be there for THE CRUISE but alas no can do. but we would like you to play a couple of songs for us."SEA OF LOVE" by phil phillips and THE THEME FROM A SUMMER PLACE by percy faith. the connection being, we were both at frostys one night in june of 59. i was going into my sr. yr, she was going into her jr. yr. she had just gotten her drivers license and was there with a few girlfriends, driving i might say, a 54 black and white bel aire convertible. sea of love had just debuted that day on KFWB and was playing at the time on someones radio. being the bad boy that i was, i needed a smoke. i also knew that so called goody two shoes JUDI, smoked! i also had heard rumors at school that she had a crush on me. well i walked up to her car and said "hey, got a couple of smokes i can borrow? she says "sure, but you have to pay me back". a couple of days later at 26th st. she asks me where her "pay backs" were. well i gave her her "smokes" and asked her out! believe me i wasn't the most confident guy in the world when it came to girls. i guess the rest is history. the song "A SUMMER PLACE " also came out in 59 and kind of became our theme song. that was still probably the best summer of our lives, although there have been many. hey you COUGS spin a wheel for us and BRUCE JOHNSON on the blvd. have a great time. thanks for listening. jakejude. el rojo. MAY THE COUGAR BE WITH YOU!
Now how could I NOT play "Sea Of Love" for you two. Great story Russ, and consider it done. I'll turn it up REEAAAALL Loud and maybe, if you listen real hard...... Well, I'm sure you'll feel it in your hearts. Thanks man, and "Be a Coug"

Major water control hiccup yesterday put about 3,000 gallons of mud and water into our home. Between visiting grand kids, and puppy Gus (he's our 150 lbs Dane) its been a real hoot. However, I'm happy to report that I stopped worrying about the small stuff in life a couple of years ago. Hope everyone else is doing GOOD! JB. Do you really want "True" funny stuff for months end?
Frank, Sorry to hear the floods got you. Hope it's all replaceable. You do store your Yearbooks in the attic don't you?
Yes, Joke day will only pertain to Hawthorne related stories.
To all of you who've emailed me, concerned with diminishing the quality of the Feedback page on Joke Day: There will be NO generic "email FWD type" jokes placed on the Feedback Page. Enough said.
Frank, Hope to see you on Cruise Night or Homecoming Night. I just talked to Joyce and she's starting to get the "Beach Party Weekend" planned for later this year too. That should be a hoot. Stay Tuned . . . .

Congratulations to you and your lucky new wife, and on the pending arrival of the newest Collins... you are about to embark on the most incredible journey, and except for the lack of sleep part, I envy you! And I remember Jerry Dorsheimer as well. His sis Diane married my bros' good buddy Wayne Harris; they live here in Thousand Oaks/Newbury Park. Glo, I am glad to hear that you are safe and sound. I heard about the floods late last night and called Lil (mom-in-law) in LV, she's fine, no problems in Summerlin. Took several hours to get thru on the phones... I'm shocked to hear that your neighborhood was affected, but then again, as Laura was so clever to note,
EVERYWHERE YOU GO, GIRL... something happens! Remember the jet fuel plant explosion, the So Cal earthquake, and wasn't there a tornado in Louisiana when you went to New Orleans???? Roni, good luck and God Bless you for your courage to volunteer at Day Camp, we were so LUCKY to have Beth to teach volleyball and the boys loved it! You'll have a blast... Just think, next year, you could be RUNNING the whole thing! What council are you? And Beth, half a year at YORK? I don't remember it, but you were a grade ahead and you know how clicque-y kids are. Looking forward to Fosters, hope it's not this coming Sat or I can't go, will be at the Boy Scout camp in Frazier Park. Just can't seem to stop... need a 12 step program...

Message: To my favorite coach...Hal Chauncey, first of all, I want to thank you for allowing me to use one of my PE classes in my senior year to paint signs in the boys locker room. Like the one that said, "When the going gets tough, the tough get going". Not only did you allow me to develop my talent as an artist it allowed me to encourage others at HHS to work harder toward team spirit and the achievement of their individual goals. Next, I'll confess to a prank I was involved in with Al Jardine (of the Beach Boys) when we were both on track together. One day, we noticed Richard Little entering the equipment storage area out on the field. We immediately thought it would be a great idea to slam the door and lock Richard in who was in the process of getting something for Coach Sevier. About ten minutes later, one of the assistants came running up to the coach and said Richard Little got himself locked in the equipment building. The coach handed him the key to let him out. Moments later Richard appeared in front of the coach complaining about being locked in. Al and I were dieing inside trying to hold back the laughter. The coach smiled and said, "Little, I want you to give me two miles". To which Little replied, "But I didn't lock myself in there." Sevier, with a slight grin replied, "For being late bringing me back what I wanted, you get the first mile. The second mile is for being stupid enough to get yourself locked in there in the first place". Richard was one of my best friends and he was the maddest I had ever seen him. Al Jardine and I thought it best we not tell him for a long time so he had time to cool down. I waited until the ten year reunion. That was long enough.
Hey Alan, Great story. I can see that smirky grin on Coach Sevier's face right now.

What a kick to see so many names from my past posting...I can only hope more of them will soon. Some of you I didn't get to know too well in H.S. But I admired you from a far. (Whether it was from your academic skills, sports skills or just all-around-people skills, so far there is not one 76er that has written in, who's name is not familiar to me.) I landed in Las Vegas tonight, after waiting 6 hours at the airport, due to delayed flights from the storm that hit our city. It's very calming to me to read cougartown, and have a glass of wine and thank God that my house was spared, unlike all the rest of my development.
God bless you all, and be thankful tonight for your blessings...I know I will be.
Bottom Line: Patty was successful.
