Message: Hey Johnny B happy birthday. Thank you for all you do, and have a great day. Wish we could travel the strand again but then who knows. You could come up here and we could do Alamo Pintado to Los Olivos, great scenery and there is about 3 pancake places between here and there! Happy Birthday buddy.
Thanks Jimmy boy and I do miss our 6am rides up and down the strand. Pancakes would be a BIG incentive though huh.

And BTW Keith Jones you are sooooo in trouble!!! John even though Patty wasn?t a Cougar (she went to Dana and Lawndale High) does this still count as a cougar sighting?

Message: At the graduation ceremony, I did not realize that I would never see many of my friends again. It never occurred to me until years later that when we are young we take so much for granted. All of my classmates were so important to me and I still think of them and wonder about their lives.
Hi Chloe Ella, Glad you found us and now you CAN reunite with your classmates. Wish you had a Senior picture though. Thanks for checking in.

Message: Myk, your description of an Al Geverink HIT was right on. He was one of the best tacklers on our team. Fearless! Didn't have great hands as a receiver, adequate, but could take the heart out of running back or wide receiver who got in his way when on defense. He hit Lonzo Irvin after he broke through our line and stuck him dead on his thighs,"UUHH" was all I heard and Irvin kept going until being gang tackled. Tough game. We were out manned. History says that. But we at least got there. An experience most all of us will not forget. I guess you could name it after thats been out for awhile. Friday Night.....well you get the idea.

Message: Sue (Bierman) King thanks for the birthday wish! It means alot coming from you! For those of you not fortunate enough to know Sue..What a class act! In 72-73 I was a lowly freshman at HHS and I had a locker on the west end of the English building. Mine was on the bottom row and Sue Bierman had one above me on the top row. Now if anyone deserved to be stuck-up and indifferent to lowly freshmen it was Sue. She was blonde, beautiful and a varsity cheerleader. Sue was special though! She was never too busy to make a kind comment or ask the freshman" How is freshman football going? " Obviously it lifted my spirits to have a "babe" talking to me and when my friends asked why I was talking to an upper class cheerleader I casually said,"You just have to know the right people guys!" Mom Bierman raised her girls beautiful AND classy! A great combination and a real credit to HHS! Thanks again for your kindness so many years ago Sue!
Sue is still the same Sue, to this day....

Message: In my birthday wish to my sister I committed a grievous error. I reversed the birth weights of my sisters and Debbie Miles? lowest weight was one pound and eleven ounces. She wanted me to be sure that I informed all CT readers that she was not the fat one after all. OK, Debbie, does that fix it now?haha

Message: Well, it sure seems as if August is a good month for birthdays. I would like to wish my sister, Debbie Miles ?77, a very happy one. On tomorrows date in 1959 she was born at our own Hawthorne Community Hospital. She, along with my other sister Sheri, who was born two years later, were known as the Hawthorne Miracle Babies, both coming into this world at about two pounds. Debbie was the fat one at 2 pounds 3 ounces. And while I am here I?d like to give my best wishes to John Baker on his upcoming celebration of another year of life. You have brought so much joy to me and other Cougars and my hope is it will all come back to you tenfold.
That's very nice Jerry, thank you, and Happy Birthday Debbie.

Message: Paco, I think Ty and I are 6 and 7 from the left. I think that's Tony Adams next to me. Tony was the son of the great Bell Adams who fed half of us at the HHS snack bar when we didn't have money for lunch. You mentioned Al Geverink on one of your pictures. Al went to UCLA after leaving HHS and playing across from Russ at the other end. Al was a Senior when I got to UCLA and I remember to this day one of the most painful football injuries ever. Al was required to play defensive end in college and he wasn't good at it. The guards and tackles that came down the line kept stepping on his feet. His nails got infected and Dr. Baszina pulled them all out. OUCH. Another reason we should have gone to USC.

Message: Happy Birthday Baby Sis, Sharon Bierman Branigan. I hope we get to share another 48 - the fun never stops with you! Clark Millman it was great to see you again - the Biermans and Millmans go all the way back to York School. You are a great Cougar and Community man and I wish you a very happy birthday as well. Finally, John Baker, our most special Cougar friend, on Monday the 28th, our resident leader of the Class of 62 officially turns 62. Enjoy it, know that you are wished much love and fun and certainly respect. What a guy! (Hey fellow Cougs, wouldn't CT Dues be an exceptional birthday gift for John? Shhhh - it's a secret!)
Hi Sue, Thank you for the Bday wishes and the dues plug too. This whole Ctown thing continues to be very special to me and I've certainly made hundreds of new friends through it. Happy Birthday Clark and Sharon, two of the aforementioned.

Message: Hey guys...reading the posts about the Four Preps song reminded me of working in Redondo Beach as a Travel Agent in the early 80's. I would call Catalina Reservations and always be put on hold listening to "26 miles across the sea, Santa Catalina is awaitin' for me, Santa Catalina, the island of romance, romance, romance, romance." I learned the whole song back then waiting for someone to take my call. I think the longest I ever waited was when I was booking that romantic get-away for Herendo Mendoza '79 and his girlfriend.
Funny Laura....

Message: Happy B'day to Sharon Bierman, Clark Millman and John Baker! Hope it is a happy and healthy year for all of you.I am still feeling the after-glo of our reunion last Saturday. It was surreal seeing so many classmates again. We were so privileged to have some of the faculty join us too, especially Konnie Krislock and Rich Allen. It's always special to see George Key; he is adorable. John thanks for coming to our party; it wouldn't have been the same without you. Sharon out did herself this time and all her hard work paid off; this was the best party ever!
Hi Gloria, With the group you had, you've never missed me. Thanks again for the invite, Class of 76, I had a great time.

Message: Hello John-Reading Anita's post reminded me of all the photos I've recently unpacked after moving to Kingman, AZ earlier this month. My El Molino's are never very far away from me. And now I'm looking for a place to display my mother's yearbooks from USC (1934 & 1935). I have a very large box filled with photos from childhood, teenhood, and early adulthood. I open the box, peek in, then put the lid back on. I do the same thing with letters. I still have all the letters Billy Cusac and Lynn Matteson wrote me during Vietnam. I have all the letters my mom wrote to my dad when she was in Pearl Harbor - 1941-1942. I have all the very romantic letters my greatgrandfather wrote my greatgrandmother. And John, if you ever publish Feedback, all 800+ pages, I'll buy it, save it like all other treasures and pull it out every now and again. Any Cougars in the Kingman/Bullhead area? Betty
Hi Betty, Don't ever let anyone talk you into dumping your treasures because you need more room. You can always GET more room. Thanks very much for the Feedback and good luck in Kingman.

Message: I'm not sure what compelled me to do this, but I hobbled out to the garage tonight and found a box with the word "photos" marked on it. I managed to drag it into the house and sat down and started going through it. Found a picture of my brother and I at ages 1 and 2 and my report cards from Cabrillo school for grades 1 and 2. My teacher in first grade was Diane Kane and in second grade it was Mrs. W.J. Coutts. The principal at that time was Charlotte Ferris. These were called "Progress Reports". I see it wasn't until I started 3rd grade at Peter Burnett did they actually refer to them as "Report Cards"...that was in the 1959-60 school year. My teacher in 3rd grade was Miss Lawless and the principal was Victor Ferragamo. So I keep digging in this box and then I run across some photos that Mr. Russell Wing took of me one day when the choir took a trip to L.A. to visit the music center. I kept rummaging...then found my senior prom picture with Al Roca (tiara and all)...no, Al wasn't the one wearing the tiara! Last picture found?.....fast forward to my 10 year high school reunion at the Disneyland Hotel, August 11th 1979 (I was 8 months pregnant) thank goodness that picture wasn't full length! Anyway,I had fun going back in time a little bit tonight. And thanks to you John, you have made things so much easier now for reunion committee's to get in touch with their classmates. I'm headed back to work on Monday after my doctors appointment. Being off and layed-up for three weeks was about all I could handle. Sharon Moore - hope you are doing better after your accident. And JB...have a Happy Birthday Weekend!!!
Ahh Thank you Anita, and thanks for the walk down memory lane. I wish I had more pictures from the Prom, Palladium Party and a few others. Keep those memories comin' and glad you're feeling up to going back to work.

Message: ?26 Miles Across the Sea:? That song spurred more arguments amongst the guys than any other tune played. When the song started so did the arguing, ?It is not 26 miles to Catalina!? ? It depends on where you start from.? ?I think it is only 21 miles from Long Beach... or is it San Pedro... Maybe Redondo?? ?Yeah but maybe they start from Santa Monica.? ?I think it is closer from San Pedro.? & my favorite, ?It depends on if you are going with or against the current.? ?and on it went every time that song was played. Never got to hear the entire song from all the arguing. --- Baxter
Hey Baxter, it is EXACTLY 26 miles from somewhere.

Message: I just heard on the radio that Curtis Conway is going to be doing the USC football pregame show on ESPN radio 710. Hey, those Cross Country records for the 2.9 miles are unfair! They lengthened the courses from 2 to 3 miles after I left High School (not that I would have been a record holder but Cessor may have been -- still had the Track 2 mile record).
