Message: Jim, LAST YEAR on these hallowed pages I Inquired about the interest in having our 40th reunion and stepped up to the plate offering my services, if our class was interested in having one, to put it together. NO ONE RESPONDED!!!!! Sharon Moore, whom headed up our last reunion and did a great job, afterward stepped up to the plate, Saying she would put it together again if there was an interest. I e-mailed her to let her know I would help and I guess the interest was not there for her either. SO JIM, where was your interest back then and why didn't you step up to the plate then instead of poo pooing the lack of one now. Sorry to rankle feathers, but to me don't slam others for lack of something not happening that you didn't put forth any effort to help make it happen.

Message: Slow Times at Ridgemount High Dept: I'm shocked and appaled with the rampant apathy that my class (1966) is showing toward a 40th year reunion. The feedback pages ring with the shreeks of delight as the 30th reunion approaches for the class of '76. The festive gayety echoes in the hallowed halls of Cougartown as the magical day grows nearer for that Bicentennial bunch. The sound made by the class of 66 is akin to dropping a turd in our own punch bowl. This would be a significant number for our merry band of graduates. 40 years is nothing to sneeze toward. Why, we were in 4th grade playing tetherball when the class of 76 was still in diapers! Now we're in diapers and they're playing tetherball. To get the tetherball rolling for the class-0-66 reunion committee, I'm kicking off the fund raising with a personal check for twenty-seven dollars (don't cash it till after the 15th) AND I will ride my custom 2-speed Schwinn "Paper Boy Special" -- with goose neck and risers (lest anyone think I'm geekish) -- to any location in the continental US of A and give you an unlicensed topless foot massage for only $19.66 (please have cash, check or money order handy). And if you order now I'll include the highly collectable Beta-Max tape of "Pretzel Boy -- He Delivers!" starring a young and hunkish, cornfed, Jim Sloey (class-0-66) along with Morgan Fairchild in her first roll. It's rated PG (pretty good), so you must be over 21 to order. This is all for a good cause, as Mr Baker has said on many occasions, these reunions are magic. I know our 20th reunion was magic as someone magically removed my wallet from my hotel room. But that was 20 years ago (and all is forgiven, you can keep the money, I just want the autograph of Bo Diddley back), so let's do it again (maybe next year). 41 is a magic number too. That's how old Gordie Howe was when he retired, and it's how old Elvis was when he met with Pres. Nixon, and it's the number of rhinestones on Porter Waggoner's favorite jacket. It's also the number of home runs that Eddie Matthews hit in 1955. Have a magic summer.

Message: Hey Roni, Hey Cindy: I'm all registered for the reunion and just this weekend I talked by brother into attending so I'll be sending his registration in as well! When Clark called I was in a very bad cell phone reception area...I heard a little bit of Sharon wondering why I didn't leave a check with Clark, but that was it...I tried calling back but couldn't get a signal, and I was with patients anyway and didn't have a whole lot of time...bottom line..I'm there in August! And Cindy, where are we supposed to send photos?? I wasn't clear if we should send them or BRING them to the reunion. Thanks for all your hard work! P.S. I pulled out the old El Molino and I was NOT most talkative!! I've always been shy and very withdrawn.... :)

Message: Anticipated Cougar sighting. On Friday August 18, EJ Curse (Ernie Curcio Class of '77) and his No Doubt tribute band No Duh will be playing at the really great venue The Canyon Club in Agoura Hills. Now I remember HHS of the mid-70s as a particularly anti-disco school. However, after No Duh, the original Boogie Knights are playing -- and if you like that disco dancing kind of thing, this is the band for you.

What's up with that? I'm glad you're going to the '76 reunion; see you there! Everyone else, too! Get your tickets--they're going FAST! This may be your last chance ever to see Sharon's cheerleading sweater and Clark's letterman jacket and sweaty old track uniform! Other surprises await, as well!

Message: Attention all Class of '76! I see a lot of you mentioning that you will be attending the reunion but I haven't gotten any family pictures for the memory book. We all have the senior pictures in our yearbooks so I'm sure you don't want to pay for a reunion memory book just to see those pictures again! You don't need to send in a lot of pictures, just one good family photo will do if that's all you have. Hope to see you all there!

Message: I checked out Zillow.com and that was really interesting. I think Keith Jones brought it up a few pages or more back....I found my childhood house at 4843 W 122nd St. The last I checked it was valued at $520 something thousand. I think that my dad paid something like $11,000 for it...They bought it before 1952. Before that we lived on 117th st. I sort of panned the area to see old friends houses and my aunt Lucille (Hahlbecks) house. Everything has changed. I even panned out to Inglewood Ave and Lennox Blvd to where Woodson Tool used to be....My dad worked there while we lived on 122nd Street. At least 25 years. Oh, I never contributed my old phone number.....676-6764....and then a few years with 676-0252.

Message: Judy Findley, the wife of Jack Findley, passed away on Sunday,July 23,2006 after a long battle with cancer. Jack is a retired Hawthorne High School counselor and was a long-time teacher and coach at Lawndale High School.Jack is alone, and I am certain that he would greatly appreciate notes from any former students, counselees and co-workers who remember him from their years at Lawndale or Hawthorne High Schools.Although Jack is listed on the Cougartown registry, I know that he rarely uses the computer. (Judy was the computer user in their home.) Rather than invade the privacy of his phone number or address, notes could be sent to this e-mail address. I will be seeing him frequently and would be happy to print and deliver them to him. I know that they would mean a lot to him during this difficult time.

Message: It's been a hoot for me to see feedback from the '76ers...All those names are familiar as they were seniors when I became a freshman. Wow! I looked to them as the gods and goddesses of Hawthorne.. Maldonado, Krikac, Millman, Treckman.... some instilled fear when spotted near Senior Square...others envy as they were so cool...still others admiration as they were our ASB leaders. It's funny how a certain name will just take you back in time...I'm a nervous, inexperienced freshman once again.

Thanks to Jerry for the BeachBoy's Mem. booth info. I believe it will be at the Reno Swap Meet that opens at 7:00 a.m., Thursday morning at the County Fair Grounds. I'll be there in the sun and heat soaking up hotrod junk...parts while soaking in my C-town T-shirt. I will stop by the booth for sure because it must be in one of those stalls in the miles of rows that go up and down the fair grounds....somewhere. I'll give them a big Cougartown Howdy for you John and ask that they visit this great Cougar home site more often.

Message: Actually I attented Lennox High School and was from the first graduating class. I married Nancy Wirz, who graduated from Hawthorne High School in 1959. She lived on West 125th street, just west of the school. Her sister, Kathleen Wirz, went on to become a very long-time math teacher at Hawthorne. I am looking for photos of any of the old movie theaters around Lennox, Hawthorne, Lawndale, etc. I used to go to the Lennox theater on Saturdays for only 9 cents. Thanks to all.
