Message: Probably women only would pick up on what a Lounge Lizard Mike Love is ... the eye contact, body language, etc. He could barely whisper his lyrics, but - dang - if Love didn't do his usual bumping and grinding to the audience ... soooooo, coming on to one classy lady was a bit too much that early in the morning. Sorry, JB, he's no Rod Stewart or Mick Jagger when it comes to the opposite sex!!!

Message: A Big Thank You to Dan Johnson '77 for sharing the link to the story on Claremont High School's Class of '76 internet preunion. It really touched my heart and soul. I have to agree that it firmly resonates what you (John) have done for HHS Cougartown. Your website was the template for Leuzinger High School's Class of 1981 website. We can only emulate you... not imitate you. You give all your readers a great experience. You are deeply appreciated and admired!

Message: Today's LA Times has an interesting
front page story about how the Claremont High School Class of '76 used the internet to really get to know one another before they had their 30 year reunion. A lot of the article resonates with what we and JB have done here at CT.

Message: Went to the CBS Studios 4th of July fireworks show with the family. The featured act was the "Beach Toys" Given that I was chasing two kids through the bounceys, I didn't have a chance to sit and watch them. But being in the "tribute" biz, I did turn an ear towards them several times and I thought they sounded very good -- particularly the vocals which will make or break any Beach Boys tribute band.

Message: Wow..found an ol' Cougar friend 2 days ago in "myspace.com" and I finally got to call her after what...22 yrs! We talked for nearly 3 hours on the phone (remember the good ol' days where you can talk on the phone as a mean of communications)? lol She said she been looking for me for years (as I through her brother STEVE during reunion time). I told her about Cougartown and she said she never heard of it. She been looking for people in classmate and now she excited about this site. I just can't believe there is alot of people who don't know about CT. I wonder if you do an engine search on the Internet and shows HHS that CT would be added to HHS site so people can be directed to here. My friend name is Kim Myers. Hope she gets here soon and post a feedback. later ye all.

Message: For what it's worth department- Back in 1974 I took part in the annual Cinco De Mayo Redondo Marina to Ensenada, Mexico Regatta- Working Crew on Capital Yacht's (of Lomita) entry, a 32 foot "Presidential" model sloop. Captained by one Marty May, whom I met through Hang Gliding along Playa Del Rey. Anyway... I recall, at the time the sister city to Redondo Beach was Ensenada! Yes I did have a Margeritta at the Bahia & I did say hello to the Clam Man! And YES there was a guy on the sidewalk with a car battery strapped around his chest & two chrome metal handles on cords...selling "SHOCKS" for $3.00 to $5.00 depending on the volts! Does anyone else have knowledge of this Mexican Electrical Tourist phenomenon?

Message: Hi Everyone,I just wanted to add to Chris's post that although it "does" make mention in the program for Hot August Nights of all of the former Beach Boys and what they are currently doing, and also sort of implies they will be in Reno, but to date, the only confirmed appearances in Reno are Mike Love and the Beach Boys performing the evenings of August 4th and 5th. It is my hopes that I see a couple of them out at the booth at some point Friday or Saturday, but again this has not yet been confirmed to me. Hope to see you out there, and if you would like any further information please feel free to e-mail me at springerevents@jps.net Paula Bondi-Springer

Beach Boys landmark WEB site and it has been updated with new pictures and an article from the http://www.dailybreeze.com/ Daily Breeze. Though I didn?t find any information on the site, I got it from good sources that there will be representatives of the BB landmark group at the hot August nights. According to their WEB site
Hot August Nights will be July 29 August 6 in Reno, NV. The Beach Boys Landmark?s booth will be located in the Nostalgia faire area but only August 3-5. People of interest who are scheduled to appear are David Marks and his band, Al Jardine?s Endless Summer Band and Mike Love and his band. Yes, John I do promote
Cougartown off of this site also.

Message: I just returned from a fantastic outdoor evening with the Platters at our Cerritos Civic Center. The location was changed this year for the 4th celebration. The group entertained for about an hour and a half, and I was within touching distance. I know there were other Cougars there as well, I just didn't see you. Alex and I met a couple from Morningside ('56) and Torrance ('70). We reminisced, and they will be checking out this website. We also spent Sunday with Carol Villiepigue Cutri ('63) in Trabuco Canyon. So this weekend was spent down memory lane.

Message: The HHS built in it's entirety as it stands now. All three pools at the same time. Although it's on the high school property, it's owned, funded and staffed by the City. I worked there from '65 through '69 and may have taught a few younger Cougs how to swim and also whistled them out at closing time. The main pool is 125' long, which as Alan mentioned is why the "Wall" was built. It could be moved to make the pool 25 yds to conform to normal lap distances. The best thing about the pool was having a home water polo game. Most of the visiting teams were used to deep pools and when they got to ours, the temptation to use the bottom (foul) was too great. We Cougs, on the other hand, knew how to use the bottom without getting caught. "Home Court Advantage". The "Gunga Din" , or the "Drop In" was still in existence after the library was built, at least 1964/65. We used to tell our parents we were going to the library to study and then dance the night away
