I'm almost leery posting 'cause I don't want you to beg, just know if I can...and by can, I mean muster up the courage and the $$...I will. I just want you to know your post caught my attention and so maybe you've also caught the attention of more Cougartown-ettes!

Message: I went to junior high and high school in Redlands, at yon far end of the San Berdoo Valley, 1968-72, and I just wanted to add that I, too, had a fond adolescent fascination with "Kam" Nelson on that dance party show out of Los Angeles... I seem to recall that she had started as teen model, and that she was a licensed pilot, as well. I recall seeing a promotional add for Piper Aircraft, I believe it was, touting "Kam" and her girl pink airplane.
To this day, the sound of "Love Can Make You Happy" by Mercy takes me right back in front of the afternoon television in 1968... Ah, lovely Kam...

Message: Hi Everyone, hope you all had a great weekend and weren't fooled too many times. I am on a mission here, a request from Bud our golf commissioner. Thanks to all those who have sent in their money, but as Bud is recieving checks, he has noticed that women are not signing up to play. GIRLS, GIRLS, GIRLS, please consider playing in this tournament, nobody cares if you play well or not, we are just having a good time here. I am trying to get Bud and Wade to come up with some girly prizes for the longest drive and closest to the pin, but they are not sure what girly prizes are. Girls, if you want to sign up, but aren't sure, please contact me personally at my email address (check the alumni page) or click on the Email link by my picture. I will be happy to answer any questions. Thank you.

Message: I didn't graduate from Hawthorne High but my older brother did. We were just chatting on the phone about the tornado that hit the city of Hawthorne in the early 60's. I was a 6th grader in Ramona ave and my brother was a senior attending Hawthorne High. I can clearly remember the tornado approaching my class room as I sat in the back row by the open door that rainy day. I was the first to "drop" on that day and the girl sitting next to me looked at me and said "what are you doing down there?" right at that moment the teacher said "DROP" the tornado tore the roof off of our class and I looked up at the windows on the opposite site of the classroom patio and saw cars across the street fly into the air and homes getting their damage as the tornado passed over our room and path.
What an incredible day to remember. Who would ever believe us? Tornados in Hawthorne Calif.? I moved from all the earthquakes in Calif. Now I Live in Virginia Beach, VA and we dodge Hurricanes along the Eastern Mid Atlantic each year. :)

I remember in the 60's and 70's Danny Litton and I would watch every replay at 11 on channel 5 even though we knew the score. We just wanted to watch them play. Jerry Miles another good one. Message: Right next door to the Cockatoo was a little auto upholstery shop that was owned by Pat Beltrans'HHS61 dad Luis and his partner Ely. They did great work, I spent several paychecks there.
One night in the mid 70's one of my suppliers took Barbara and I and our two boys out to dinner at the Cockatoo Inn and then to a Kings game at the Forum. While we were eating dinner Patrick (our 8 year old) excused himself and went to the mens room. A couple minutes later he returned and ran over to his little brother Tim and whisperred something in his ear. Tim went into hysterics and said "no way" Pat said "come look" and they both took off on a dead run. They came back in a couple minutes looking guilty and when I asked what was so funny Tim cracked up and told us about the ice cubes in the urinals and how you could melt them. Simple fun I guess!
Sorry I missed cruise night, you know I had to be sick!

I only remember BBQ Pete's at the Hawthorne Blvd. location. I'm told there was a previous location.

Message: JB~ Can't believe it has taken me this long to once again send my thanks for a great 'Cruise Night'. It was my first but won't be my last. It was great seeing the Cook sisters Georgia and Donna as well as Wayne Dickey, Don D, Marsha and Eileen. As always seems to be the case at these gatherings you meet new people too.....like Larry Bach and I'm sure I have missed a few others also. Oh, and the cars! I absolutely fell in love with the candy apple red '69 Chevy Nova (****). You have found your passion JB. You have taken up a cause that really matters to you and we all have benefited from that.
