I was living in Redondo Beach working as a Pre-School Teacher and had just bought myself my first lap top, I went on classmates and soon after that I got my first e-mail from Rick we started talking and the rest is history. I had a crush on Rick when we were freshman's but at that time he had his dad's karmann ghia. Now my two children have three of their own and I am helping Rick raise his daughter Shelby that's twelve. My son Shawn is in Texas and my daughter Nicole is in Canada, both of them just had babys in March of 06. If there's one thing we have all learned from our experience in Hawthorne is that we are all one big family. And we are no longer sleepless in Seattle.

Message: Hay folks: I went to the thirty year reunion to see every one and was suprized that so few from such a large class was there. I re-met Debbie Anderson on classmates and I had been divorced ten years, she had lost her husband five years earlier from ALS. We got married in Reno on our way to the reunion from Seattle. I bought a Silver 05 Corvette for the trip. We drove back to Seattle all along the coast as our honeymoon. Wish I had seen more of you. Maybe next reunion. I have a Z06 on order for that trip. By the way, I didn't have to ask anyone to bail me out, I kept it under 140 mph., almost. Look forward to seeing you next time, Rick and Debbie.

He did something on the battalion chiefs surburban when they were still HFD (in the gas tank lid), good thing not everyone could see it...Right Steve! And yes, you would never see him without paint all over his clothes, and his car is about the same. I saw him dressed up once at the Firemen's Ball.

Message: Does anyone remember a Disney movie, "Dad, Lend Me the Keys to Your Car"? My cousin married Larry Gloege, who lived in Panorama City and had a pinstriping shop there. He was the guy in the movie who was doing the striping when it became animated and went wild all over the car. I understand he striped the Bat Mobile, the Munster's hearse, a golf cart for Frank Sinatra and some other famous cars back in the day. Did any of you know him?

Message: Keith I think you mean STEVE Fienberg-
I worked with him on several jobs around Lawndale in Hudsons old shop; Funny we were disscussing him yesterday here at the Motrocycle shop& Ed Roth TOO!I have recently been asked to do regular monthly piece for an upcoming Biker /chopper rag mag on "HOW TO" custom painting.
Yeah wow can't believe the Cougartown feedback came around to that-like wowsville daddayo! We cherished everthing Roth back in the day, it is great you had the chance to speak with him. If anyone has any old chopper mags featuring Steve F. please let me know .... He did the sign and truck graphics for Bicycle Don's Bike Shop (where I worked) on Hawthorne Blvd just North of the VW dealership- down from Dunkin Donuts- *Steve came walking in to Don's after pin striping a vw bug in the show room,I had no idea who he was! He was covered with multi-colored splatters of paint all over his pants and shirt,I thought he was a wino deralict & was just about to run him out of the shop when Don came out and recognized him.
Steve had a very profound twitch in this face like M.S. but when he held a pin brush he was a rock, he did stuff I have never seen any other man attempt! He actually painted his name down one of the spokes on the bike "painted" on Don's van! The spoke was about one sixteenth inch wide and he put his name on it sideways over the black line with white paint! micro signature.AWESOME DUDE!

For the last 20 plus years Von Dutch lived in a Orange packing house out by Lake Piru. The last house he lived in was in Buena Park off of Orangethorpe and Valley View. I don?t recall him striping the house. I do recall him shooting holes in the ceiling!

Message: For those of you who remember Auto Pin Striping by Von Dutch (Kenny Howard) and ?The Rat Fink? by Big Daddy (Ed Roth) There is going to be an auction of Kustom Kulture artwork and memorabilia offered for sale. Kustom Kulture artists including Von Dutch, Big Daddy Roth, Robert Williams, David Mann and Ed Newton. I was fortunate enough to be friends of both Von Dutch and Ed Roth. If anyone is interested the Auction will be held May 13 and 14 at the Peterson Automobile Museum on Fairfax and Wilshire Blvd. This incredible sale constitutes over 300 lots of original artwork and memorabilia offered for the first time at auction. There are a few vintage automobiles that will be offered at auction also. One that I am interested in is the 1937 Buick (Custom body by Bowman and Schwartz) made for the movie ?Topper? in 1938. You do remember George and Marion Kirby? Hope to see a few Ctowners there.
