E-Mail: cmi50@yahoo.com
Class: 76
Message: David, I remember you (I'm Les Jones bro). Anyway I had the extreme pleasure of catching Mike Scott a few times. Mostly in Middle League and Little League. He was older but I got to practice with him. I caught him also a few times in high school during practice. Our families knew each other. His dad and my dad were friends. His sister Sue was a friend too. Mike won the Cy Young award also. Last time I heard he lived in Laguna Niguel. Him and Mike Colburn and my bro were great pitchers when they were younger. They were all bigger than everyone else. Mike COlburn went on to play in the majors also. He also won the amateur athlete of the year in the whole country in 1976. We had great ball layers come out of HHS

Message: Karen Masters!72' (LeMaistre) I don't have too much time in between our mini reunions on email and the sunsets...but you are all too important in my busy life to let go of! Keith! I knew that Tracey went on to do well with baseball, that was all that tossing of the ball I did with him when I babysat him. How can I get a hold of him?? Any ideas? Hubby does not know Krimbow, but I knew his brother Val? Am I right?
Patti 79' Kristen Jones was about 2 or 3 when I babysat her! do you know where she is at or her folks? I was pretty good friends with her Mom.
Judy De Grazia 64' do you have a brother named Tom? Or relative, he would have graduated in 72 and went to Saint Joe's I think?
Hey cougarar and cougaretts we need a chat room... What should we do?

I have to agree. I remember Leuzinger went a whole SEASON without scoring a SINGLE POINT in football. I think it was their 1960 season.

Message: A suggestion for the after-Homecoming-game party is the "new" Stick & Stein Eatery & Sports Bar at 707 N. Sepulveda Blvd. in El Segundo. It is pretty large and has several separate areas and an upstairs section that we could reserve. They have great food, reasonably priced, full bar, pool tables in one area, easy freeway access and its close to the Hacienda Hotel for those who won't be able to drive home afterwards! Or.... maybe we want to stay on the East side of Sepulveda?! Of course, we make arrangements with the ESPD, they may just let us drive through their town!
Susan

Susan darlin', Everyone has just conferred and we've nominated YOU to take care of this little chore. Please do it for the sake of the Cougartown Homecoming Game. HHS and its alumni are counting on you girl. You find the place and make the necessary arrangements. We'll let you know how many are going to be there. Thanks Susan

Message: In case anyone would care to know, yesterday's edition, 6/6, of the Los Times had a great article written about John Fowler, RHD c/o '68 and HHS c/o '72.
He is now known as Dr. Fowler. After attending UCLA on a football scholarship, he became a physician and now lives in Turkey setting up medical facilities. He apparently is quite renown in the medical community in Turkey.
Congrats, John. It couldn't have happened to a nicer guy.

Message: John...Thank you so much for creating this wonderful opportunity for all the cougar alumni to renew old friendships and create new ones. I have been a casual observer in Cougartown until I saw the posts from my dear old friend, Sharon Willis-Quesnel.
Sharon...How do you have time to enjoy those beautiful Hawaiian sunsets with your wonderful hubby between emailing me and hanging out in Cougartown?!
Keith...I too grew up in Hollyglen..on the corner of 138th Place and Isis (the house with the roosters on the shudders). You may know my sister Paula. I believe she graduated from Dana the year before you. She attended Hawthorne High but graduated (one year early) from Lawndale High. Our parents moved to El Segundo in 1988... but my dad, Roy Masters, still sells real estate in the Hollyglen area.
By the way...if any of you have recent addresses and or telephone numbers for anyone in the Class of '72 (or '70 and '71 for that matter)...I would truly appreciate hearing from you! A reunion is in the planning stages for the Classes of '70, '71 and '72. It is tentatively set for the summer of 2001. I know it seems early but the earlier we get started the better turn out we'll have!

Karen, Whatever it takes to get you to get up here so you're friends know you're watching. Let me know on the big "R" and we'll put a page up here.

Message: This one is for John Baker who has shamed me into sharing this story... I just found Dan Grimsley from the class of 1962 after 33 years. (my very first boyfriend) He most definitely played a big part of my memory book from the early 1960's and I wanted to take that long trip down memory lane again.... so I called him and we talked half the night away. I couldn't have wished for anything better than to go over all the good times, hard times, and recollections only to find out that we all came out OK. Our friendship is special..... Thanks Dan!
Judy DeGrazia 1964

Judy, I think that story is so special. This is what it's all about folks. Finding long lost friends. Danny Grimsley BTW, is one of the people that I needed for my Hawthorne Christian Reunion. It DOES just keep getting better and better. Thanks Judy

Sorry Russ but after deep thought this weekend, Ive decided not to change my name. Too much hassle with all the ID stuff and AARP would want another $8 to re register for 99 (That decided it). Ricki was your mother in my archery bowling and golf class? Its the only serious one I took at ECJC...And someone mentioned Mr Baxter. I had lunch with him and his lovely wife Nancy last week. They and their son Garrick are doing great...Looks like you had a busy weekend JB....just gets better and better...later Cougs

Message: To Sharon and Keith and Greg - it's funny what a small world it is. Ken (hubby and class of '77) has told me funny stories about playing ball on the hhs team (and how hard Greg threw and used to whack the batters, then they couldn't hit him cuz they were scared - hahah). Anyhow - my girls play softball now, and who should be my youngest daughter's first coach but Kristen Jones, sister of Tracey. It was really funny because Tracey's dad used to coach Ken in Little League, and he came and helped out with some of my daughter's practices. You never know when you're going to find a Hawthorne person!

Message: Sharon, Did your husband know a surfer with the name Dana Krimbow. He was a friend of mine that surfed with the Wave Trek surf team. He was rated nummber three in the world in the junior division when we were at Dana. You did know that Tracey went on and played with the Cincinati Reds and a bunch of other teams (in the majors) he has a radio show in Cincinnatti now. The last I heard is that his mom and dad still live in the same house. Here is a fact about Greg Staffon. I was his catcher and at HHS he was being so highly scouted by all the baseball teams. He was timed (as a junior) at 96mph. That is as fast and faster than 95% of the big league pitchers throw today. He was awesome.Jus another success story from HHS.

Message: Hi John,
My sister Patt's Birthday is Oct 14. So she is probably asking that I pay for her to come down for the reunion on the 15th of October. She still thinks I have the money that I had her pay to me to do her dishes when we were small. We would get maybe 75 cents per week for allowance and I would take 50 cents of it to do her chores for one day. She would then have time to go out on a date. I will negotiate with her via e-mail. Maybe we can get her here for the Homecoming.

Chris, Maybe you can get her to paint and roof your house while she's here.

Message: Did you live in the keyhole where Tracy Jones lived (the third one closest to Aviation). Here is a suggestion for a reunion except there isn't much notice. I didn't know it was so close but they are having the Running of the Bulls in Mesquite, Nevada on July 9 thru the 12. As long as I'm in town I'll be there. If I go I will send in some pics of me tackling the bulls (forget about that running crap). I was in Reno once when we ran with cows (that was easy) I don't see any difference between a cow and a bull except that the bull has horns to honk before they run over you. Maybe next year we can get together there and have a mini reunion while we all go have some fun. Afterwards we can all eat some big beefy steaks.
Hi Keith, Yeah, that might be a little too short a notice. Maybe next year. We need at least 2 to 3 months notice for these minis.

I MEAN, HOW ELSE COULD YOU BE MARRIED FOR 38 YRS (THE 17TH) YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN? AS FOR YOU R. HOOD. I THINK YOU SHOULD CHANGE YOUR NAME, TO SOMETHING LIKE "RED WOOD" OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT. Message: John, I wrote a long post a few days ago but I think that it was the day everything got eaten up by your server. Anyway, I have been very busy for the last 2 weeks. My annual art show was last Thursday and it has been very chaotic at school. It is great to have that done and over with for another year. It went very well. The place was packed and SRO in the auditorium.
My mom has been here because she never misses an art show. She donates a one hundred dollar scholarship annually in my dad's name to student. It's a very touching ceremony. Also, she has fallen in love with our puppy Sammy. My mom hates dogs and actually she's afraid of most. She's finally realized how sweet they can be and has even offered to babysit her. She is so impressed that Sammy does what she's told by her and by us. You were right Mike and John, Goldens are the best. Tomorrow, Sunday, I am having dinner with Clayton Williams. If anyone out there has a message, send it in to me and I'll relay it.
Hi Robin and don't you dare change your name. I never would have been in touch with you if you'd done that. My mom even remembered you from El Camino. She was in a class with you. Take care.

Ricki, Earlier, you wrote that Sammy was such a biter. What happened to that disposition, hmmm? Ask Mr Williams to let you sign him up for the Newsletter. We need these teacher contacts. Thanks Ricki
