Message: Just want to say that what Doris Donaldson said goes for me too. I am so looking forward to meeting all the people I feel I have come to know a little bit through CT. There are so many Cougars that make us all proud. Also, I must say things around old HHS during the 70's really sounded exciting--wow, teachers, students, vending machine nerds, you name it, I think it might have happened to you guys in the 70's. A special thanks to all of you who are working on the Prom. I haven't had so much fun looking forward to something like this since the last Prom I attended! I look forward to seeing everyone there!
Speaking of the Prom, where the heck is Judy with the daily report? I think she and Janny were practicing the Lambada the last I heard, and you know what that "Latin Devil Dance" can turn you into. It gives "I'M OFF" like a Prom dress a whole new meaning. I hope she didn't hurt the poor guy.......

Message: John, At least narrow it down, what year did Mr. C-Town t-shirt wearer graduate. It is the guy playing the drums, isnt it? Looks like a grad from the early to mid 70's. How close am I? Louise, thanks for your message. Glad to know I was not the only one with a crush. Did Dennis D. have a fan club? If not, should we start one for him. (ha ha).
Sharon, would love to hear what it was like to have snagged Mr. Dreamboat.

Yeah, come on Sharon..... did he kiss good?
Jill, Mr. Drummer is from the early 70's.......

Message: Just took my kids to the airport after a few weeks here. ALready miss them. I'll see them again in October. Well to tell you all the truth I had a crush on Dennis too. I envied Sharon or was it I envied Dennis. Dennis was a great guy. He was very inspirational. He tried very hard on the field. Not like Mike C. who didn't even try and was great. I think Mike had a resting heart rate of around 45 and after a good 2 miles got it up to 70. Unreal. As for Stucker he was a...well you know. He definitely wasn't one of my favorites. I do agree with Mike that I think too he was trying to be like Smith. Smith was well liked by most everyone. Remember Stucker drove a Porsche and had 2 or 3 of them ripped off. I'll never forget Tom Fowler and me walking home one day past his car. Only me and Tom know. In addition I think Stucker, Smith, Featherstone and the soccer coach (can't remember his name) were vying to see who was the Don Juan of teachers.

Message: JIM SLOEY, I am SO disappointed you will NOT be at the PROM! I was looking forward to meeting you ... you seem to be such a "target" for John, you must be one heck of a good guy, even if you ARE an attorney! ha! And you know what! I may sneak over and ask that you "step outside" so I CAN meet you!! How does THAT grab you? You're kind of a CT celebrity, you know? And Eddie ... good advice! You want to come to the PROM? COME!! There's a ticket with your name on it! And D-Z-Lizzy ... anxious to meet you, too. You have a GREAT sense of humor! And Paco and the Jensen Brothers, and John and his main squeeze :-), and Judy-Wudy and Janny, and MoMo, and Walter Holt, and Jim Backus, and, and, and, and on and on! I can hardly wait!!!
You left out LeeRoy....OH, and Ramma Lamma
Doris, I can't wait to meet you either. Talk about a CT Celeb. Next weekend, the Marriott, BE THERE, unless of course you're in the classes of 70 through 73 then tomorrow night is your night at the same venue. MAN, We shoulda gotta RATE!!
BTW, the best place to catch Sloey is a ballpark or graduation ceremony.

Im sure that there are several people that enjoy the fruits of your many, many hours, so for being the lazy SHMUCK that i have been i apologize, and challenge everyone else that has been like me and not sent in, (what is it like only 20 measily bucks?) pay up!!!! or, am i the only lazy knucklehead that has enjoyed the memories here and not payed up? Anyway, enough w my gibberish. John, please be kind enough to lemme know where to send the dinero and how much, and ill be MORE than happy to have it sent pronto. my email is (crsh4csh@aol.com ). Hey Eddie, Sorry you can't make the Prom. I'd like to meet you face to face.
About the dues. Yes, please click here if you've never become a member and it will take you to the Membership page, where you fill out the form, mail your check to the address at the bottom of the page, and you're in the club. Thanks again Eddie for plugging the Membership page. We'd like to have full membership but at present only about 9 percent are members. Also member dues are due every June. Thanks Cougs......

Message: Although I won't be able to make it to the Multi-Class reunion or the Prom, I hope everybody has a ton of fun. Now, however, I would like to add my nickels worth about Stucker, Noel, etc. I didn't have Darryl for any classes, nor Mr. Smith for that fact, but I did have them for baseball and one ill-fated attempt on my part to play basketball. Stucker always seemed like a Noel Smith wannabe. Coach Smith was a funny guy and used to bust us up on the field with his comments about the way we played or any other subject that crossed his mind. It always seemed to me that Stucker wanted to be cut from the same mold but his sense of humor didn't play well. Thank God my freshman year I made JVs and played for Coach Smith instead of Stucker. John, you are right about hearing the other side of the story though. Given the times, people do change over the years. One may not have liked Stucker but he does deserve the benefit of the doubt. After all, we don't know what was said to him. Now that people have passed this post over I'll sign off.
Thanks Greg.....

Message: I must add my 2 cents worth re Mr. Stucker, and it involves the Double D, who I see is mentioned more than a few times of late. Mr. Stucker also coached the Frosh/Soph baseball team. Dennis was the catcher on this team and one game they were getting a good ol fashion butt whipping by Inglewood High, I think. The umpire was ready to put the mercy rule in effect, however the coach of Inglewood offered Mr. Stucker to continue playing. The ump said that was fine, the cougar players were doing all they could think of to persuade Mr. Stucker to continue, no dice. From what I was told by the Hawthorne players, Double D was the most insistant with his coach, then came an ethnic remark from Coach Stucker to Dennis that was heard by the players of both teams. Game over. When the team got back to the HHS locker, Coach Stucker called Dennis into the coaches office. Hopefully they cleared the air, though Dennis did not look like he received a pep talk. What makes this worse than some of the bigotry one will come across at any given time, this was by a teacher/coach to a freshman. Nuff said. Double D and I used to have "a couple of cold ones" after most of our home games when we were Seniors, shoot the breeze and talk about the next game. Last saw him at the 20 year, he recognized me, though he had not aged one bit so I did not know who the hell this young dude was, till he said "lets go have a couple of cold ones".
Story that it is, we should hear the other side of this one.

Message: JOHN, JOHN, JOHN, JOHN, Why blame me? Always! You never accuse me of showing up at cougar events! I agree with your assessment that if you don't pay you don't play, its not fair. You and Prom girl, [affectionate term Judy] have worked hard, sweated bullets that enough people would come and you deserve alot of credit along with all those who helped, Janet, Janny etc. Debby and I have a wedding in Las Vegas we can not miss {no it isn't one of the kids) otherwise we would have to look for a graduation or ballgame somewhere. Have a great prom. Will this be an annual event?
Like your good buddy Johnny Cochrane said, "If the ISP is right, You Must Indict".
Don't know about an annual event but it's sure been fun getting all these Cougs together in one spot on the planet, and not that far from good old HHS. Judy has done a masterful job, now I'm not just saying that but sincerely mean it. All you see here, is her clowning around on the website, but She and Janny burn lotsa' midnight oil and I know it's going to show come Prom Night.
Good luck with the 66 Reunion and please straighten the chairs, sweep the floor, and wipe the tables down as we'll be in there the next night......Thanks Jim

Message: Sharon & Louise, would Dennis D. be Dennis Drodowski? Man, did I have a crush on him! I think it was my junior year, and he was in one of my classes. I thought his eyes were very sexy. But alas, he belonged to another, I am guessing that would be you Sharon. NO..........it was ME!!
So I kept my crush to myself and hoped that he would notice me one day, then I got over it and developed a crush on someone else. By the way, I did see him at our 20 year reunion, and he was no longer cute, but now handsome. It was there that I confessed I had had a crush on him in school. It is amazing how much confidence you gain in your late 30's. If only we had that much confidence in our teens. Anyhow, thought I would share that with you. By the way Louise, I seem to recall you, you were probably in one of my classes. Who did you hang out with?

By you telling us about all the old records and no record player, well we have both. If you would like to borrow our player give us a jiggle or E. Larry's folks had records going back even further, we have real real oldies, from the 30's to the 80's, more 40's, 50's.(My Mom still has alot of old records too, some are mine, but she has alot of Mario Lanza Records) We just cleaned out our shed and Larry was working on the player and speakers. You know, checking to see if they work, and they sure do!! He was playing his Jim Morrison, LIGHT MY FIRE. Larry thought for awhile he was back in the 70's, It was loud. All in all, we understand what you were trying to tell us all, just seeing these old records, bring up so so many beautiful MEMORIES. We'll be seeing you on PROM NIGHT. Take care and ALWAYS A COUG

Message: My father passed away in 1987 and a few weeks later I had an accident. I fell off of my balcony and crushed a vertebrae in my back. I was paralyzed from the waist down. Doctors said they didn't think I'd walk again and that I may not survive the surgery I needed. (I didn't believe them for a second). I am a modern, medical miracle. During the year of recovery my daughter and I lived with my mother in our old house on 133rd. Street. Hawthorne had already changed from the small, "white bread" community and it didn't feel like home anymore. After I was back on my feet we sold the old house (after 50 years) and, together, bought a great place here in Redondo Beach. We moved stuff out of that old house and garage without even opening boxes and trunks to know what it was we were moving. Well, I cleaned out the garage this week and found some old World War II ammo boxes that belonged to my father. We weren't allowed, as children, to open his old trunk and boxes, but I opened them this week. And guess what? I found hundreds of old '45's and LP's. Original recordings of Nat King Cole and Harry Belafonte and Ray Charles, and, of course, his favorite latin groups. Trio Los Panchos was apparently one of his favorites. I had forgotten that. I don't have anything resembling the old 'turn table' but I will find a way to play these. He has a 45 of "Shake, Rattle and Roll" Can you believe it? Our house seemed to always have music playing. As kids, we had Saturday morning chores to do before we could go out and play, and during our morning torture we played the sound track to "Westside Story" and Julie London's album where she sang, "Fever" All the sisters danced and sang through our housework every Saturday morning while our father and brother mowed and edged the lawns. Even in yardwork my father whistled his favorite tunes. Easy, lazy days of Summer...that's a song too, isn't it? He may have that one on vinyl. I'm so excited. Wish I had a record player. I'd be dancing and singing
Sounds like a great find to me Liz. Look in the Penny Savers or some of the Trader rags. They have plenty on phonographs in there. My question is, who DOESN'T have a copy of "Shake Rattle and Roll"?
