Message: Anyone going to Maui,I stayed at the Kihei Resort one time too. Good place. I kind of like the the fufu stuff so, I really like staying at the Grand Wailea or Kea Lani depending if I'm by myself or not. My kids really like the Wailea cause of the pool area. Depends on what side of the island you want to hang out at. Kihei is really nice cause it is between Lahaina and Kahalui and upcountry. Can't remember the name but there is a fish place on the main road that has the best beer batered fish and chips anywhere in the world and is the first stop I go to before even checking in to the hotel. Ka'anapali is nice too. The Ka'anapali Beach Hotel is very homey. If you really like people (where they hang out) then hang in Lahaina. I stayed at the Royal Lahaina Resort which isn't too bad. I call Maui the "blond island" cause that is where all the tourist go and it seems there are so many blond people there. Got to share this. It was nice early today so I decided to go see my friend who has a fishery here and sells to the stores and restaurants. Haven't seen the guy in years but he remembered me right away. He still remembered what I always ordered from him. He got me 2 pounds of Ahi he had just got this morning. He fillet it and it was the most perfect hunk of fish you've ever seen. It was from the belly and was sashimi quality. So we're talking about $18 a pound. Anyway he gave it to me free. Now that's a friend. So I gave him some MetRx protein powder. I am the exclusive distributor for MetRx and Worldwide Sport Nutrition here in Hawaii now. SO we traded and talked and now I'm hyped. Bring it home and through it on the "barbie" by the pool. After about I'd say about 45 minutes or so it was awesome. Perfect in every way. No it's back inside to make my famous Super Fresh Ahi Tuna Salad for sandwiches. Mix some pepper, Hawaiian sea salt (crushed), relish, just a little Kona honey mustard, Best Foods mayo, roasted sesame seeds, and a pinch of paprika in a nice koa mixing bowl.

Message: In Maui we stayed at the Maui Seaside Hotel and found it to be a friendly, family oriented hotel with a nice pool. Best place we stayed was the Kauai Sands in Kapaa. These hotels are part of a chain that is Hawaiian owned. I personally like Keith's idea - any excuse to go to Hawaii, but Honolulu gets old real quick. Kauai is my idea of paradise.

Message: When I was pretty young my grandmother would take me to Sears and Roebuck's with her to shop. The best thing there was/were the escalators. So while she shopped I was kept busy riding up and down those mechanical wonders. After, we would walk across the street where my mom worked in the hamburger stand and get something to eat. She also worked at the stand on the SW corner of Hawthorne and Imperial. Great memories of the Ferris wheel etc.
One night in 1961 we were standing around waiting for our pizza at the Pizza Show and this blonde girl decided to run back across the street to the center parking area and didn't see the curb (she didn't want to wear her glasses) and fell flat on her face. I felt so soory for her. She was OK. Does anyone remember that? Lanny
I remember both the stands; one in Inglewood, and the Pastrami stand on Hawthorne Bl. I don't remember anyone tripping on the curb though.

I have so many kids checking in from the 60's that I might have to put "Ripple / Thunderbird or Gordo Red" on the wine list..(where is that Gordon Bell anyway? For the 70's people, a little "Boones Farm /Annie Greensprings /Tirolia /Spanada." Message: Sandy Hickey, I know the whereabouts of Mr. Cross. State your purpose on a private e-mail and I will be glad to turn your head in the right direction. It's jakejude@aol.com . We know your name, give us some info. Were old and can't get up but would like to know you purpose. Dennis "The Mammal" Campbell, I put out the challenge to John B that I would kick his buns in any "pool" game. He retorted that he had beaten me in 1964, and my response should have been, "John I was in Spokane WA. in 1964". I think you're still dreaming about those wino derelicts that you claimed the crown from, according to the (heh, heh) trophys. Anyway Mammal and Big John, Kingy Guy... why don't you come "up here" and play your silly games. Last but certainly not least, DONNA BECKWITH, we enjoyed talking to you and yours, so much. It was a real Cougar kick in the buns to meet my first real "love" again (sorry Sandie this was 6th grade). Sloey...does Steve Andersen know how to talk? I know he can spell. All those degree's and such...but damn I could hit his fastball. Just tell him to poke a few keys and say hi! We love you COUGS. JAKE N JUDE! MAY THE COUGAR BE WITH YOU!
You know, all that week you were here and never ONCE mentioned how you were going to "Kick My Buns In Any Pool Game." You spent a couple of nights right here under my roof, actually sleeping but a wall away from my trophies........all was silent. NOW you're a couple of thousand miles away and all of a sudden you've become Willie Hoppe.
Sandy Hickey, I went to Hawthorne Christian with a Carol Ann Hickey; any relation?

I just wanted to post a reply to Nadine Eligon and also let all c/o 86ers know that we will be having a 16 yr reunion sometime next summer instead of a 15 this year. I will post info as I receive it so that we all have plenty of time to make travel plans.. buy the perfect dress... diet our butts off....
Make sure your email address is up to date here at cougartown too. If you have moved and need to update your address for the reunion committee you can email me and I will forward it for you.
Hope all is well with everyone!
All right, another reunion in the works, and plenty of time to plan for it too. Also a good time to remind all Cougs to make sure your email addresses are up to date. If you forget to update your email address, no one can contact you. Also, if you know someone whose email address is outdated, please remind them to update.
Thanks Delia.....

Message: Well, it was 1956. Danny Kieffer and I used to ride our bikes out to the old airport and mess around. One time we found a whole bunch of quarter size slugs on the ground. We picked some up and rode back home. We went straight over to Feltons market and went into the phone booth, put one in the phone and called my house. OS6-9852
It worked! I called Gene Gutierrez, and Bob Fox. Danny called his house. since we didn't have anyone to call we just gave them to my Grandmother who was always on the lookout for a good deal. I remember the Trott sisters across the street. They were really cute but I was way too shy to strike up a conversation with them. I remember their dad coming home everynight in his old truck and always seemed to be happy. When I was 16 and started driving, Gene Gutierrez and I would see these boys on bicycles over at the Troots and chuckle because we were so much older i.e. 2 years. Another time I was on the back of Danny's bike while he was peddleing us up Hawthorne Blvd. heading South between El Segundo and the Bank of America. I had my sling shot with me and I saw a large box van heading north on the other side of the street. so I took careful aim and misjudged his speed and my rock hit a large plate glass window in a store on the east side. Danny took off like a bullet and we never looked back. I felt pretty bad about that but not bad enough to 'fess up. Lanny
Is Lanny the 60's version of Keith D Jones??

He was right except the guy next to me got the answer wrong too. Happy 400 CT. Everyone in CT lets plan a reunion here in Hawaii for next Memorial Day Weekend. I have the Newly designed Hawaii Convention Center reserved for a National Bodybuilding show and World Powerlifting show. I am working with my sponsors now. May is about the cheapest month (airfare wise) to get here from LA and I will be getting the hotels, rent-a-cars and alot of restaurants at good discounts. It would be a great time to come to Hawaii. We could use one of the side rooms or something for the reunion. Come on lets spread some aloha. Anyway, if interested lets see some feedback and I can get on it from here. Aloha Nui Loa Keith
