I don't get this electrical power deal. I think I need to track down Uncle Fester to keep the lights on.
It's not bad yet. Wait until it's AC time.

Message: For crying out loud, Mickey Mathena; Oregon isn't the only state helping out California and having prices soar. And WE'RE not crying in OUR beer! It was inevitable, wasn't it? But you know what would be a little more fair ... California should raise their electricity rates to cover what they use from other states! Now why hasn't anyone thought of that!!?? Californians make a heck of a lot more money than those of us in Idaho and Oregon; they surely can afford the rise in costs better than we can, can't they?! Golly! And I would never have thought of that if it hadn't been for you, Mickey! ohwell. Doubt our voices are being heard where they SHOULD be heard ... I'm thinking CougarTown can do very little about it either! Why is it human beings have such an overabundance of HINDSIGHT, and seemingly not enough foresight to even shake a stick at? We wait till we're thirsty to look for water; we wait till we're hungry to look for food supplies; we wait till ... well, guess you get the idea. CHEEZ! HAPPY MONDAY! What WE need are some good laughs!!! How about it somebody!????
Amen to that.....

Message: CT most of the times appear to be all fun and games but I'm wondering if there is room for a serious discussion? I'm wondering what your take is on the power shortage here in the west & especially those of you in Calif? Have any of you been affected by the blackouts if so, how many times and for how long each ocurrance? What do you think the fix is going to be and how long before all is well again? If there is any blame to bear where does it fall and how do you/we we're not blindsided again? What kind of impact do you see this having to the economy?
Here is Oregon we are starting to hear Anti-Califorian comments again and we're not too happy about hearing electricity rates are going to go up about 60% by fall and likely to stay there for several years. Not all of our power crunch is due to the Calif problem. In yesterdays paper there were several articles and cartoons that weren't too favorable to Calif. I think memories still exist from a number of yrs ago when Calif was in another power shortage and Oregon had to bail them out. There were black out's all over here but no signs of a power shortage when I made a trip to LA.
Any comments?
The only comment I have is every time someone wants to build power station in CA, be it hydro-electric or nuclear, there are plenty of "tree huggers" ready to step in and stop it. Now that we're OUT of power, we're the CAUSE of all the problems.
Yes, I've experienced one blackout for almost exactly 2 hours.

Yep, Janet and I'll be at your reunion all right. Should be a hoot and we'll see you and the ID Queen here the week before, for a little get together too.

There was another liquor store on Imperial that helped us all out back in the days, Bob Rierdan remembers...One night we were in the parking lot waiting for someone to buy us "one" beer, Bob was there already, we were all socializing when I noticed Bob had a cigarette behind his ear, a very cool thing to do, so I asked him if I could have it and he said it was his last one, but because I was so cool he would give it to me...I lit it and it exploded!
At last, a "Cigarette Bum" gets his.....

Message: Well, it was only a matter of time before I was called COUP DeGRAZIA again.. Ugh... Now for the suggestion from Don DiTomasso..regarding all these activities (70-71-72-73 / 66 reunions & PROM NITE) within a week of each other. I don't foresee a problem Don, because the committee members of all of them have been in touch, and believe it or not, we felt it was a "good idea" to schedule them separately. Not everyone can go to class reunions that don't involve them, but all are invited to PROM NITE! Remember that PROM NITE is not a reunion, but a great alumni dance.. and the other 2 "are class reunions." We committee members thought that mashing them all together would only be confusing and messy at best..and the good part is that people coming from out of town can squeeeeeeze a whole lot in a week if they want to stay or have another great night to rekindle whatever needs rekindling.. PROM NITE will be getting some 60's & 70's people that wouldn't have come for just one function..same with the reunions--que sera sera. All we know for sure is that AUGUST-of 2001 will be a record breaker for HHS parties. Doris.. Ok kid, you're from the 50's..Janny and I have mass emailed everyone on the alumni list, but some need a nudge. Email me..and we'll talk. I don't wanna hear any whiiiieennin' when the tickets are all sold. Oh my God.. there's Buddy Holly (True love ways) on my Janny's Real Jukebox.. gotta get Ivan the body pillow and dance.. maybe next will be a Tommy Edwards song.. let's go Ivan!!

JudyWudy, I suspect one reason you might have a problem getting more 70 folk to the PROM is that a 70's reunion is a week prior. It's a shame that the scheduling ended up the way it did. Since both events are so close in time, that would be interesting if they were combined in some way...one section for one and one for the other but a common dance floor...probably too late to work on that...
Yes, too late, but thanks for bringing it up.
