Ray's a cowboy at heart and say he lives by the credo of the old west, that a mans word is his bond and a handshake is as good to Ray as a signature on a contract. I hope you'll make it out next year for a Ctown function. I know you've got lots of old Coug buddies that would love to see you too. Thanks Ray for the pictures.

Message: I'm probably crazy but I think PACO looked a little like Doris Donaldson back in high school. I sure hope she doesn't look like him now. Sorry PACO nothing personal - well maybe a little. I was saddened to hear of Steve Allens passing, but at least he had a good long life. I loved his late nite show in the early 60's. He was so funny, he could make you laugh by just laughing himself. He had such a weird cackle. He had so many expressions that he repeated over and over and it was funny everytime, hows your bird? and Schmock! Schmock! But seriously folks---. And he always talked about those little black things. A lot of great memories there.
Remember El Camino College Professor Julius Sumner Miller on his show? Steve and Dr Miller were at opposite ends of the planet. Another so-called doctor on Steve's show was Dr. Irwin Cory. Steve was a funny man all right. Thanks Marilyn......

Message: Hello Cougartown! Some time in the late 70's, I lost my class ring. Does anyone have any idea's on how I can get a duplicate? I never thought much about it before, but after reading the posts on Cougartown, I'm suddenly feeling the loss.
I hope some of you that will be attending the prom will bring digital cameras to take pictures that I can see on the web-site. Make sure to list the names and classes, it will be the next best thing to being there!

You know Bonnie and whoever it was who lives in Woodburn, OR who posted last week.....the colors here right now are just to die for.....So Bonnie, here is what your birthday day looks like up here in the land of winning Ducks and Beavs.....clear, cold, blue azure sky, leaves in all types of wonderful colors such as bright yellows, electric orange and mind boggling reds, white, fluffy cumulus clouds hanging on the nearby Chehalem Mts., all over the hillsides that have wine vineyards on them, all the grapes leaves all are now a bright, blazing yellow! All of this is so beautiful, it almost makes your eyes hurt!
So happy birthday again, my dear. This day was tailor made for you!

We did not put two and two together until Kirk shared with my husband that he would be attending a funeral right next to our home. (We live right on Lucia where many parked on Saturday) Our sincere condolences go out to Mike Wadman and family. Kirk told us after the services that there had to have been close to 200 + people. He has never seen anything like it before. Kris was very special. It's amazing to me how very close all of us are here in the South Bay. You may have gone to HHS and I, WHS but either way we all know someone, who knows someone else, etc etc...Small world indeed. Living and growing up in the South Bay was and is a truly unique experience. Again, Tom and I send our heartfelt condolences to the Wadman Family.

Message: BROTHER! I must be HOOKED on Cougartown.com!!! I really missed you this weekend!
Yes indeedy do! I had a LIFETIME MEMBERSHIP to Vic Tanny's Gym! I was very active with the gym 1960,6l,62! A few years later when I looked for a Vic Tanny's Gym, I was very disappointed to find out they had bit the dust! There was a class action suit against them in those days, but I was not involved in it.
QUESTION! Who is this "PACO"? Why is he called Paco? Why is he so infamous ... you know, his claim to fame? I'm just very curious! He must have been a freshman when I was a senior, but I sure don't remember the handle. Refresh my memory, John ... I tried emailing PACO but the email I mailed came back.
Also, I'm going to try to rally some of the "old folks" from '57 into coming to PROM NITE 2001. If you have a name and address list, I would be beholden ... please mail it to me. I know you are busy, so just when you can. Thanks a heap!
By the way, how was the Halloween party?!! And what costume did you wear? doris
Ahh Doris, I'm glad you asked about The Legend Of Paco Duran. "Paco" from the Spanish term meaning, "I can out-drink and out-surf any Mother Fletcher at 26th St." Yes, Paco came from a fine upstanding Hawthorne family. He was an outstanding HHS61 student; fine athlete, and later on a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. These days Howard has taken up something entirely new to him and he just loves it. It's called CROSS DRESSING. Although his family had to move to Canada because of the embarrassment, Howard feels totally relaxed and free now. Howard has come full cycle in his life and I for one applaud you Paco. "You Go Girl"!!!

Message: Okay Cougars. Here's another Cougar story. Walline Hohenthaner Watson (66) is visting here from AZ. She and I went to Shoreline Village in Long Beach and were visiting the gift shops. We went into one of the clothing stores and were looking around when the saleslady asked if we were from out of town. Walline said she is from Arizona, but grew in Hawthorne. The saleslady said,"Oh, I was raised in Hawthorne." Guess where she went to school? Right, good old HHS. Her name is Theresa Bowsman. Don't know if I spelled her last name right. We immediately told her about Cougartown and she said she would check it out tonight. She said her aunts and uncles went to HHS too and she is going to tell them about Cougartown. John you are right, it's a small Cougar world. So Theresa if you are out there reading this, welcome to Cougartown, and how is your last name spelled? Always a Coug.
All right Sharon, It IS a small Cougar world out there. I'm glad you had a close encounter of the HHS kind and now know how it feels. Anyone else have a similar story to share?

Millie: I was scrolling up the page and it stopped with your pic and last name showing, immediately I said that's Millie. It sure has been nice seeing pic and names I've haven't thought of for many years. I do hope the world has been treating you well.
For you city folks, you sure are missing out on the fall colors. We've got everything from the deep greens through the yellows and then on to the bright reds. I can also see some of the shrubs and trees putting on buds for next season.
I hope the upcoming holiday season is going to be enjoyable for all. I just received an e-mail message from a friend in China and they are coming on a trip next month and will be stopping by to visit close to Christmas. This lady is from China and her "best friend" from her youth lives 20 miles from me. It sure is a small world.
Speaking of small world, does anyone have any small world stories, i.e. being a long way from home and meeting someone you know or someone who shares mutual friends?
Happy TGIF to all
HCH has a story about running into someone in San Luis Obispo. There are a few stories about people wearing their Cougartown Tshirts and being confronted, far from home.
Thanks Mickey for the picture. I don't know why you couldn't send it to me either. If anyone has a problem with the Internet, please email Kathleen Nix Griffin at CT_Helpdesk@yahoo.com and she'll be glad to help in any way she can.

Message: This goes out to Mike Wadman and his Family-
Mike I have been greatly devastated by the loss of Kris. He was a great friend of mine. I may not have talked to him every day but I knew he was always there for me to talk to. Out of every one I know, he was into hockey the most even more than me. When I heard of his passing I was shocked I couldn't think. It didn't really hit me until a few nights ago when I realized that Kris was gone. As a tribute to Kris Myself, Cesar Acosta, David Littrel, Jason Williams and Adam McGrath will be wearing his initials KW on our hockey helmets. We all played with Kris and we all thought of him as our friend. Also this season of Hawthorne Cougar Hockey will be dedicated to Kris. Mike, Wadman family you have my condolences.

(Really, it's not as bad as we all thought back then) I've been to many interesting places and seen a lot of interesting things, including the Gulf War. Keep up the good work. Revised 2/4/98? What's up with that? ha ha
Hi Rip, Glad you found your home on the web. I think the Navy could use you in their recruiting office.
The revision is when I changed the page "look" or format. Has it been that long??
